	Iwe had been given a mission directly from the King himself and, as usual, he was taking it all very seriously. The problem he was facing was that things were suspiciously quiet even as rumours of cult activity came and went over the months. It was possible everybody else was as doubtful and bored in the peace they had had for some time now, or it was possible the cultists were getting better and better at hiding their activities. If it was the former, he was just wasting some of his time doing the job he had been given for his home. If it was latter, he sure as hells was going catch wind of it before it could cause any more trouble for the others. He spent enough time in the day wandering around in case anybody tried the old "in plain sight" maneuver with their shenanigans, so tonight it was past sundown and he was patrolling through some of the busier spots and watching for anything or anybody suspicious.

	The night was her cloak, and it was when she was her busiest. Even though it had been a long time since that fateful night, it hung over her like a burr buried within her fur. She could not, and would not, forget it. It kept her going, even through all the silence and the strange sense of normalcy that the pride forced itself back into. The downside to the darkness was that others could cloak themselves in it as well. She had to move carefully and quietly, her focus on the border this night. There were things to tend to, and she preferred to do them alone rather than with others in her cult.

	There were only a handful of known suspects in cult related activity, and the white fur around her eyes was what got Vitha spotted by the diligent soldier. He thanked the stars his fur was better suited to hiding in the dark of night and ducked down instinctively to avoid being seen, his breath held in as he tried to listen.. She didn't seem to be out for a leisurely stroll, she had the pace of someone who had somewhere to be. That made her all the more suspicious, really it would be ridiculous not to follow her. He was under orders from the King, after all! "Hmm.." He fell in step some distance away from her, doing his best to keep track of where she was headed without getting himself caught. It wasn't easy but he was trying really, really hard at it!!

	She continued her pace, pausing for a moment when she thought she heard something. There was a rustling sound that was nearly always present in the grassy pridelands, and there didn't seem to be anything else that seemed out of place. Satisfied for the moment, Vitha continued her pace towards the border. It was strange, considering anything as open as this a "border". Other than hard-to-see markings in the dim light and a faint scent of the mark, it felt like there was no difference between her place of rest and the dirt a few feet away. "Now, to test the earth," she mumbled to herself, digging her claws to try to get a feeling if there was anything amiss. Within herself, within the land, within... her surroundings. Someone was possibly following her, but she was not afraid of anyone seeing what she was doing, either. Vitha was hiding nothing.

	More than once, Iwe was certain he'd been overheard but she didn't seem to notice, so he blithely believed he was masterfully stealthy in this chase. When she finally stopped, he realized they were quite far from the central pride lands and .. she said.. something?? He wasn't quite sure what it was and, feeling confident in his skills, he started moving closer and closer. What on earth was she doing? She was just.. standing there? Were her feet still moving? It was hard to tell in the dark.

	Vitha continued to paw at the dirt, finally finding what she wanted to find; a bone. It wasn't very large, but she felt like it would tell her more than she cared to realize at the moment. Things weren't going to stay quiet. The question was if she should leave it within the earth here, or move it away from the border. What would be safer...? Ugh. "If you're going to watch, you should at least pick a night where the moon shines brighter," the black and white lioness spoke out into the night air. Someone was nearby, and she wasn't amused enough to glance around aimlessly to try and spot her would-be-guest.

	He kept on creeping closer and then froze when suddenly her voice rose above the silence, calling him out for following after her. Now Iwe had a choice, he could come out and interrogate her about what she was doing and out himself as the observer.. or he could stay hidden and either run or keep watching. She knew someone was there, maybe, but was she sure? Did she know who? Iwe knew who Vitha was, she was famous, infamous even.. but nobody really knew who he was. Iwe chose to stay frozen and see what happened. Now he could tell that she had been digging something up but he wasn't sure what.. and trying to see, or mark where he was, would get him caught for sure. So he stayed perfectly still and hoped she would think she was wrong about being watched. He did not stop staring, though.

	The quiet was her only answer. Well, it didn't matter to her. If someone was there, she would find out soon enough. She had decided to just bury the bone back where she had found it; let the truth become what it must. Her moving the bone may only shift the misfortune to somewhere else. At least she was here to accept it and work towards fixing what was wrong here. Better that than to pass on this cursed luck to somewhere else, more innocent. She inhaled for a moment, breathing in the scent of the dirt and grass and oldness that always seemed to stick with bones. "You shall continue to sleep," she said quietly before ensuring that everything was reburied correctly. Well, there was a bit of dirt left over, so she reached down and tossed some of it over her shoulder.

	You shall continue to sleep. The first real words he actually heard her say clearly. They were ominous, moreso than he was expecting - he felt a shiver run down his spine as he watched her toss some dirt over her shoulder, and he finally decided to leave in a hurry. He'd try to retrace his steps to figure out where they were and investigate the area when it was daylight, but he wasn't sticking around right now. While he tried to remain out of sight, he didn't make anymore effort to conceal his presence. If the silence had convinced her she wasn't alone, it didn't matter anymore as long as he wasn't spotted and got the heck out of there. He wasn't sure what it meant but he would have to look into it. Hopefully he could find this spot again.

	Ah. The tell-tale sounds of someone moving. It didn't quite sound heavy enough to be another lion, but she knew that there were some scouts within the pride that were probably quite skilled at concealing themselves. No matter. She had never been one to hide anything, and would continue to act as she always had. With conviction. "As one sees nothing, hears nothing... the future is quite uncertain as it always was." She laid her paws down on the ground atop the reburied bone, wanting to take a moment before leading herself back home. The Pridelands would always be home, fallen stars or no.
