Edward Elric has been kidnapped by a group of alchemist bent on creating something magnificent.They are discovered before they can complete their project and flee as the military storms the lab. Colonel Mustang is the head of the raid. He is over seeing the rounding up of a lab assistant who hadn't escaped when a solider appears telling him that Lt. Hawkeye requests his immediate presence. The solider goes on to explain that they found a chimera with human features. Mustang is immediately directing the solider to lead him back to the Lt.

Mustang arrives at the cell doors marked 34 and 35 with the 34 crossed out that Lt. Hawkeye was guarding. With a nod from him she opens the cell door allowing him in. Mustang enters the cell and examines the chimera to find that its not Edward. The chimera is female and does not hold any of Ed's features. As he continues his examination Mustang discovers a collar with the marker of number 34, which leaves him wondering where 35 is. As he is about to make his exit of the cell to question the lab assisstant on where the missing number is hears a growl come from the darkest corner of the cell. Number 35 is still in the cell.

As the creature emerges from the darkness Mustang sees it is another chimera this time he knows its Edward, the chimera's human features are unmistakable. Edward doesn't seem to know him though as he attacks. Mustang must bring the boy that he believes is still in the creature to his senses. If he can, can he separate the animal from the man or is it better to kill Edward and save him the agony?

Alphonse had reported Edward missing 4 months, 2 weeks and 3 days ago. In that time there had been n o sign if the young alchemist. At the current moment the army was storming a lab, it seemed mostly abandoned and that suited Lt. Hawkeye just fine as she stood guard near a cell door. She was at the end of a fairly long hallway with cell doors on either side every few feet. The place gave the Lt. the creeps not that she was willing to admit it. The whole building gave off a very evil and forbidden vibe so Riza didn't much feel like facing an enemy at the moment. Looking through the cell doors it hadn't been hard to see why the place seemed so forbidden and evil, in many of the cells lay dead or dying Cimeras all fusions of animals only. The cell she was guarding however held a dead chimera this one holding human features on what she could make out of the partially decaying creature. Not trusting anyone but herself she had stood guard and sent the solider who had traveled with her after the colonel.

The Lt. hoped for everything the creature laying dead in the cell was not Edward, she was unsure that Alphonse would be able to handle it if it was. Looking up at the cell door once more the Lt. puzzled over the numbers on top. Number 34 and 35 but 34 was scratched out; what did it mean? The sound of rushed footsteps nearing the hallway broke the Lt.'s thoughts and she saluted as the Colonel reached her. "Sir." she greeted.

His foot steps echoed off the walls as he made his way to the cell that Hawkeye had staid to guard. His heart was in his throat as he feared the worse for Edward. As Roy Mustang came upon Lt. Hawkeye he stopped and nodded, taking note of the numbers 34, which was crossed out, and 35.
As Riza stepped aside and he went inside. The smell of decay and other unsanitary things assaulted his senses. He walked slowly over to the dead Chimera, this one did have human features, but none of them were Edward's. The collar and tag around this creature's neck said 34... so where was 35?
Colonel Mustang stood and was about to bark an order to Hawkeye when he hear a rustling, and then growling.
He strained his sight in the dark cell and caught movement and the glint of silver in the light from the hallway. As the thing charged at him he quickly slipped outside of the cell and as it came at the door he saw Edward's face and intently felt sick to his stomach. "Edward.." he said softly as the chimera charged at the door again.
The noises it made were heart wrenching. He sounded like he was in grate pain with every thing he did.
"Edward..." he said again a little louder knowing that no one was around but Riza and himself. "Calm down Edward... we're going to get you help." he said gently. He wasn't sure what he was going to do but he knew he couldn't put Edward down without at least trying to help him someway.

The creature hidden deep within the shadows listened intently as things conversed at the door. It did not sound like the beings that had created him so it left the creature cautious even as the door opened and a being entered checking over the one that had been paired with him. Fur on its back raised in a threatening posture even though the one that had entered the cell couldn't see him. The creature wanted the being to leave the other alone even if she was dead, she was not to be touched. A deep growl wound its way up through its throat when the being stood.

The creature shifted through the room avoiding the light. The he charged by the being avoided him slipping out the door of his cell. Despite the pain in his body he slammed himself against the cell door trying to get at the other that the barest reaches of his mind recognized. He didn't know if it was to hurt the being or to seek help. Then something the being said caused him to stop, that part in the barest reaches of its mind surged forth to bring some understanding. Then the word again, no a name...his name. "Ed...help...Ed..." the chimera whimpered. Hawkeye whom had drawn her weapon when the chimera charged lowered it in surprise as he spoke.

"Sir?" she questioned the Colonel.

"Tell no one of this." He said sternly and then taking in a deep breath he opened the door to the cell and came back inside closing the door behind him. "Edward... I'm going to help you." he said holding his hands up and not advancing on the creature before him.
He was thin and the way his body trembled Roy was sure he was in pain now. He needed to know that more of Edward was in there, desperately he needed to know.

"Sir!" Hawkeye exclaimed as the man opened the steel cage door once more. The chimera backed up unsure of what to do as Roy entered the cage and closed the door behind him.

"Help Ed..." Ed spoke softly standing away from the man for moments. His body was shaking from the pain he felt. He had pushed his warped body too much by charging the man and then the steel door. He finally moved forward towards the man and lay down at his feet. "Ed...hurts...Bas...tard..." he whimpered.

Roy took off his long coat and knelt down draping it over the creature at his feet. "Don't worry Ed... I'm going to get you something for the pain." he gently touched the side of Ed's face, those eyes were so full of pain. It made his chest ache to look into them, but he made himself do it. He needed to see that Edward was really inside.
"I'll be back for you Edward..." Colonel Mustang stood, never turning his back on the poor creature, he knew Edward was in there but so was a wild animal in pain. He slipped back out the door and closed it latching it.
"Lt. Hawkeye..." He looked to her, he knew she might question him with what he was about to say. "I need some pain killers and a way to get number 35 out of there." he waited for her response.

Ed looked up as the man draped something over him. "Ed..." he mumbled hearing the name again, his name. "Pain..." he repeated as Roy touched the sides of his faces. "Back?" the creature questioned softly as it watched Roy back away. Its pained eyes filled with confusion as the man closed the door to the cage again locking him inside once more. He whined still able to see man.

"Yes sir, but by number 35 do you mean Edward or the other one?" Hawkeye questioned.

"Yes Ed... Riza you know what they will do to him if they knew he was alive. No one must know Edward was ever here." Roy ran a hand trough his hair. For weeks he had been searching for Edward, hoping that he would find him alive. But he hadn't been prepared for this. "We need to get him out of here... I want to give him some pain medication so he can sleep for the move." Looking back into the cell he watched as Edward watched him.

"Yes sir, I'll get you and Edward a way out of here but I recommend taking him to your home. No one but yourself goes there most of the time. I will be back with something to help him with the pain and to sleep." with that Hawkeye was walking down the hall the click of her heels caused Ed's ears to twitch. He moved closer to the cage door sticking his nose through whining again.

"Ed..." it muttered.

Kneeling Roy held his hand down to the noise. "Yes.. your Ed.... I'm Roy... do you remember me Ed?" he asked softly keeping a sharp ear for anyone approaching that might discover them.
Take Edward to his home... yes... that was a good place. No one ever visited him, but then again he was always at work as well. He could take a few personal days to secure his home so that Ed couldn't escape while he was away.
Damn where was Riza? He should have asked if she could find a blanket for Edward...
The smell of the place suddenly hit him, assaulting his noise and making him gag a little. The smell of dead rotting bodies and excrement mixed to make a nasty combination.

"Ed...Roy..." the creature murmured pushing his nose into the others hand. The creature recognized the name but the animal portion of his brain wouldn't let him remember. The creature's ears perked minutes later as foot steps resounded coming down the hall, Hawkeye was returning caring a big blanket and the requested medication.

"Sir," she said holding out a needle/syringe to Roy. "it morphine mixed with a tranquilizer. I have Havoc pulling the car around to the back entrance area. Once Edward is asleep we can wrap him in the blanket and carry him out." Hawkeye stated. Edward upon seeing the needle/syringe quickly pulled his nose from the cage door and slipped out from underneath the coat that Roy had placed on him. Giving a growl he disappeared back into the darkness of the cage.

"Thank you Riza.." He said was he heard Edward growl. "Ah.. Ed... you don't understand.... I want to take you away from this place... away from the pain.." he said sliding the door open again. "Look... it's just medicine to ease your pain and make you sleep.... when you wake up you will be at my home... in a bed." he took the cap from the needle and slipped it into his pocket so that it made no noise. He held the needle in his right hand. "Ed... come back out... I only want to help you... to take you away from here."

Riza nodded in response watching the man move to the cage door and unlock it. Once it was open again Riza's hand was on her gun. Ed didn't seem to understand as the growling grew louder. The creature obviously voicing its displeasure at being stuck with more drugs that had caused him such pain before. The human portion of his mind argued that Roy would hurt him like this but the animal didn't want to take that chance. "No!' the creature barked.

"Okay." Roy held up his hands and slowly laid the syringe on the ground. "See?" he held up his empty hands. "Come on with me Edward... we're going to leave this place okay? Come on.. I'll carry you." he used his foot and slid the needle back towards Hawkeye. "Come on Ed." he said again taking another step.
