When Loki agreed to marking the pizza place as their first date, Tony grinned, shaking his head. “I’m afraid everything we do will end in paparazzi in some form or fashion.” He joked. “Curse of being who we are on Earth. People may not care to pay attention on other worlds, but here everyone wants to be nosey at all times.” He continued. Trailing off, he watched as Loki yawned and seemed to settle more into his seat. “Yeah…you rest. We’ve run into both of your nap times anyway.” He teased gently. He didn’t mind the silence on the drive, just the sounds of the car and Loki and Fenrir’s breath. It was peaceful. He’d always enjoyed driving, made sure to drive himself everywhere. Some part of him wondered if he shouldn’t suggest a family roadtrip in the future. The drive itself was uneventful, but right as they were entering familiar territory, he hear Loki moaning and shifting. Glancing at him, he smiled faintly, hand reaching out to stroke his hair and soothe him a little so he could settle for the rest of the ride. But as he was shifting his attention back to the road ahead, he felt a shock come across the bond. Clutching onto the wheel in surprise, his gaze snapped over to Loki. “Lo….babe….” he said quickly, trying to separate himself Loki’s pain for the moment. Seeing the god clutching his belly, he couldn’t help the small bubble of panic rising in his stomach. Were the babies coming? It was early still wasn’t it? They weren’t completely prepared yet. Or he wasn’t at least. “It’s alright Lo…just hold on. We’re almost home.” He promised, speeding up. “Jarvis!” he snapped, the phone is his pocket picking up the name and lighting up. “Yes sir?” Tony unconsciously reached for Loki’s back. “Get Bruce, tell him that he needs to be waiting when we arrive.” He said sharply.

"I don't mind that the Midgardian media wants to have something to say about everything we do. I will mind however if they pull a stunt like they did while we were ice skating again, especially when the children are around." Loki huffed. He was going to be sure to make it clear to the media that they would not touch their children. He didn't care if they came after him with their stories but the children were throughly off limits. "People on other worlds are nosey, they just keep it to gossip though and don't tend to be in your face about what they want to know." the god explained with a shrug that turned into the god sticking his tongue out at the genius when the man teased him about nap time. It was true that he had been taking naps at the same time as Fenrir, but he was carrying two children he was allowed to be tired since they were taking everything from him. He settled down to nap however without any words of arguement and dozed soundly until the pain had woken him.

Loki took gasped breaths as the pain subsided for the moment after Tony's mind had pulled away from his own. He understood why Tony had done it but a part of Loki's mind still wanted the man close. Tony had to drive though and he needed his full mind for that and pain across the bond wouldn't help. He could feel bits of Tony's panic through the bond and that only fueled Loki's own panic. He didn't really know what was going on, what had caused or was causing the pain because while the pain had lessened he could still feel it on the edge waiting to flare up. His thoughts drifted to the thoughts of the children, he too wondered if they were trying to come already but the pain of what he felt while similar had come on to quick. His thoughts from there jumped to a complication that might cause him to lose their children. That thought brought about more panic and the pain that had been sitting on the edge waiting lanced through him again causing the god to give another pained cry. It felt like everything in his abdomen had tensed up and was trying to crush all of his organs. The pain from that was intense and brought tears to his eyes and caused him to gasp for breath, it also made things hard to focus on. His whole being was so focused on the pain that he barely heard Tony tell him to hold on. The pain was waining again for the moment when Tony was telling JARVIS to make sure Bruce was waiting for them. Loki didn't like the thought of needing Bruce even though he was sure he did need the man. If Bruce was able to stop or fix whatever was going on Loki was sure the man would be putting him on bedrest. The god didn't want to be on bedrest, he was already so restricted even if it was by his own volition because of him not wanting many to see him in such a form. To have more restrictions would be irritating to the god but another lance of pain made Loki suddenly ready to agree to bed rest if Bruce could stop this pain and make sure his and Tony's children were safe and healthy.

As Loki worked his way through the pain, Tony reached over and took his hand, holding onto it tightly. He was sure Loki would bruise his hand at the very least, but if the little bit of physical contact might help, he needed to offer it. “Breath Lo….just breath babe.” He said quickly. By that point Fenrir was awake and whining softly in his seat. He still had enough sense to remain in his seat though, just watching Tony and Loki until one of them told him he could move. It only took a few moments for JARVIS to connect them through to Bruce and his slightly baffled voice rang through the car. “Tony? What’s wrong? What’s going on?” he asked quickly. Tony shook his head, trying to push his car even faster. “It’s Loki…something is wrong….” He responded tightly, glancing over to the god. “Lo, can you tell Bruce what’s going on? Maybe it would help?” he asked, hoping the distraction might help and that whatever Loki might say would help Bruce. Speeding around a few cars and flying down the road with his emergency lights on, some small part of his brain thanked his formula one training. This car was far from a racer, but he was managing it pretty well. He’d have to update the engines in all of his cars, increase their horsepower and handling for emergencies. “Mother?” Fenrir spoke, voice quiet and wavering. Tony let out a shaky breath, trying to remain as calm as he could. “It’s alright Fenrir. Just stay in your seat. We’ll be home soon.” He promised. Soon enough the gates to the mansion came into view, swinging open automatically as Tony squeezed the car through as soon as he could manage to race up the driveway where the Bruce, Thor, and Steve were already coming out to meet them.

Loki grasped at Tony's hand when the man took his, he squeezed it through the pain he felt only releasing for a moment when the pain faded. He squeezed again as the pain came back, it kept up like that as Tony raced home. The pain came intermitedly and it only seemed to grow each time it came back and the time between the pain became shorter while the bursts of pain stayed longer. It made Loki's mind almost numb as he wanted to seperate himself from the pain, but he tried to keep breathing through it just as Tony told him to but it was hard when the pain seemed to strike him and steal his breath. He could hear his son whining now from the backseat and he wanted to offer some comfort to the boy but he couldn't seem to form the words. He then heard Bruce's voice through the car and realized that JARVIS had contacted the man and that Tony was telling Bruce something was wrong with him. The pain was receeding momentarily when Tony asked him if he could tell Bruce what was going on. "Pain...Intermintant pain. Squeezing and sharp.... its going longer with less time between it....but...." Loki hissed out before giving a sharp cry as the pain flashed through him again. He heard Fenrir ask after him but he couldn't form any words to comfort the boy thankfully Tony was there to save him a bit with Fenrir. The god himself remained drawn into himself, curling up as best he could as if that could lessen the pain. The hand squeezing Tony's the only limb not pulled close to his body as they approached the manor. He was breathing as the pain receeded momentarily when the car came to a stop and the door on his side opened.

Thor swept forward to open the door as soon as the car pulled close, but before he could move to pick up Loki, Bruce was kneeling down next to Loki. “Hey Loki…I need you to listen to my voice and try to do what I’m telling you. I’ll take care of everything, but you have to help me out.” He said firmly, rubbing Loki’s shoulders slightly. “You have to breath, as slow and deep as you can. In through your nose and out through your mouth.” Bruce stayed where he was, ignoring the nervous, fidgeting men around him until Loki tried to follow his directions. Nodding, he stepped back for Thor to move in and carefully pick Loki up and out of the car to carry him into the mansion. Tony carefully extracted his hand from Loki’s as Thor took him and scrambled out of the car. He wanted to run after Thor and Bruce, but Steve was already pulling Fenrir from the car. Taking the pup from the soldier quickly, the genius cuddled hum close, letting Fenrir whine and cling to him. “It’s alright pup, it’s going to be okay…Bruce is going to help your mom, I promise.” He murmured, bouncing Fenrir and rubbing his back as he slowly followed Thor and Bruce to the infirmary. As soon as they reached the infirmary, Thor was setting Loki on a bed, staying next to him as Bruce and Betty rushed around, setting up heart monitors and other machines.

Loki was aware of movement next to him once the car door had opened and he could vaguely sense his brothers presence through the lessening of the pain he felt at the moment. Red eyes flicked up locating Bruce though when he heard the man beside him, they showed the pain he felt and the fear there as well. Loki didn't know what was happening but he assumed well enough that it was not good. The twins weren't due so soon but he didn't think it was that because his body hadn't shifted for them to arrive, which meant it had to be something more dangerous and that terrified him. Following Bruce's instructions was harder than it should have been but he had barely been breathing when the pain struck so all the god wanted to do now was suck in as much oxygen as he could. Still though he tried to regulate his breathing to what Bruce wanted as best he could; in through his nose and out through his mouth. When Bruce seemed satisfied that Loki was doing as asked the man nodded and moved aside allowing Thor to scoop him up as Tony released his hand. The god didn't know if it was the shift in position or no longer having any physical contact with Tony, or even just the pain coming back like before. But in the seconds after his hand had been released and Thor had picked him up the pain lanced through him again, more so than before and for a few moments all of Loki's senses whited out. In those few seconds he was in his own mind shying away from the pain and that was when he realized fully though part of him had already known that the shield around his mind that his mother had made with her and Thor's power was gone. That alone freaked Loki out almost beyond what he could take, thinking that Thanos was the cause of this pain. His mind turned to the doorway of his twins to see it there even though he realized he couldn't fully sense the twins before he was out of his mind again when his senses came back. The pain that had caused the white out was still there but Loki pushed through it to search out the twins within him needing to make sure what he thought as an attack wasn't affecting them. What he sensed instead surprised him and alieviated some of his worry for the moment. The twins were alright, encapsled in a shield that Loki wasn't sure of if it was his magic's doing or the twins themselves. The shield though was more physical than the god had expected and he realized that all the squeezing in his body was being fought against the shield and that was where some of the pain was coming from. It was during this realization that Loki felt himself be set down on a bed while things were being attached to him. His breathing was raged as he tried to follow Bruce's instructions once more as the pain began to wane once more for the moment. "Shields... gone...." Loki gasped out to his brother hoping the older god understood what he was trying to convey.

Thor was careful to cradle Loki close as he felt the god seizing up in his arms. Taking his hand once he was laid down, Thor tried to be support for Loki until Tony came in, just letting Loki hold onto him and reassuring him. When Loki gasped out something about shields, Thor frowned, taking a moment to process it before shaking his head. “Don’t worry about it right now brother. You can think about it later.” He said firmly. “Worrying about anything else isn’t going to help you right now.” Tony stayed with Fenrir for a few more minutes, cuddling and comforting him until he was a little more relaxed. When the boy seemed like he would be alright, he handed him back to Steve, who was waiting to whisk the boy away and keep him distracted upstairs. As soon as Fenrir was out of sight, Tony hurried to the infirmary, sweeping in and instantly crowding Thor out of the way as he took his mate’s hand and began to smooth his hair back. “I’m here Lo. Right here.” He said quickly, leaning down to kiss his forehead. Betty and Bruce had continued to buzz around, speaking to one another and trying to figure out what was going on. “Loki….you just need to keep breathing.” Bruce reminded as he carefully put sensors on Loki’s belly. “We’ll figure this out soon enough, just try to keep as calm as you can.” He continued. Tony watched his friend for a moment before he turned his attention back to Loki. “I told you Bruce would fix everything babe.” He murmured.

Loki let Thor hold his hand after the man had lain him down on the bed, infact he more than let him as he squeezed the hand Thor held his with. The younger god was glad for the support his sibling was offering because while he was sure it was clear to all he was terrified about what was going on because he really had no definitive answers and no one else had offered him any at the moment. Thor's response to his words however had the god frowning as it seemed Thor didn't realize the implications of Loki's words. "No... Thanos... could be the cause... without the shield....to block him." Loki argued when Thor told him that worrying about anything else wasn't going to help him at the moment. Loki didn't think he was worrying about seperate things. He was sure the two instances were quite connected and though he was right in some ways he had no way of knowing like everyone else that Thanos most likely had nothing to do with what was happening. He wanted Tony then because he was sure that his mate would understand what he had been trying to say. Soon enough after he lost time because of more pain Tony was there and moving Thor, taking the older god's spot while kissing his forehead. The hair Tony had pushed back from Loki's face was wet with sweat as he tried to breath past the bits of fading pain to speak. "Thanos...shields...gone..." Loki panted as best he could, he was getting less and less oxygen the more frequently the pain came and that only brought a glare from Loki when Bruce told him to keep breathing. He was trying to keep breathing but that didn't seem to helping, nothing or no one seemed to be helping and that brought tears to Loki's eyes along with the pain. He was trying to keep calm too but the longer the pain went on the less calm he became, right now Tony was the only thing keeping him from yelling or snapping at the doctors and others around them. He almost did so when Tony commented on how he had told him that Bruce would fix things. The man hadn't fixed anything yet but he didn't get to say that as another wave of pain struck him causing the good to give a sharp cry and whimper as his body curled up towards Tony as if pleading with his mate to make the pain stop.

Loki’s words brought a small frown to Tony’s lips. He knew the shield was gone, but it hadn’t occurred to him that Loki would connect that to whatever was going on. He knew well enough that Thanos wasn’t doing this, but he didn’t know how to explain that to Loki. But before he could ponder that too much, Loki was letting out a cry of pain and curling towards him. Cupping his face, Tony leaned over the god and pressed their foreheads together. Without a second thought, he threw his mind open to Loki, summoning what little magic he had up and trying to soothe Loki’s mind with it, trying to help the god separate the physical pain from this thoughts to help him calm down. ‘I’m right here Lo. You’re alright. This isn’t an attack, this isn’t anything dangerous, I’m sure of it…but you have to calm down to see that.’ He whispered into Loki’s mind. As Tony was distracted and keeping Loki busy, Bruce managed to get an IV into him, starting him with some liquids but also dosing him with a very small amount of medicine to help his muscles relax. From the readings, he was fairly certain of what was wrong, but he didn’t want to speak up just yet, not until he saw if the medicine was having any effect or not.

Loki saw the frown Tony gave to his words and he mistook it for disbelief and that only fueled irritation in the god. Why didn't anyone seem to believe him about the Titan attacking his open mind once more. He didn't have anytime to try to make his case when the pain flared up again. He could feel Tony's hand on his face and he knew it was his mate even though his eyes were screwed shut. He knew of course that it was Tony without looking, of course who else could it be when Tony had been the only one by his side. But Loki was too familiar with his mates touch to even entertain the thought of it being some one else. It was soon after the pain had started that Loki felt Tony's mind with his pressing close and very open, magic pressed across the bond too with a soothing influence and Loki tried to suck it up as much as possible. To take all the soothing and comfort he could despite the pain as Tony promised he was right there and that he was alright. He wanted to shove away the comfort and soothing in the next instance though when Tony tried to tell him that what was happening wasn't an attack by Thanos and that it wasn't dangerous. If it wasn't dangerous at the very least then why was there a shield around the twins, a solid kind of shield that could fend off all kinds of attacks. Still Tony was trying to promise him that of such things and telling him that he needed to calm down. He couldn't calm down though with the pain and the thoughts of similar the pain felt to the torture that had been afflicted on him whilst in Thanos' "care". All he wanted was got it to stop because despite all the pain he strangely felt numb to everything else. That numbness was why he didn't even notice that Bruce had gotten an IV into him. Even as the pain wained and struck again over and over, he didn't notice the IV. He stayed curled on his side keeping Tony's hand locked in his refusing to let go as he tried to keep breathing how Bruce wanted him to when he could. It was about a half hour before Loki's body seemed to calm with the muscle relaxer, it still took another ten minutes or so before Loki reliazed that the time between pain had waned and the pain itself had lessened. His breathing had evened out even when the pain struck he was able to breath past it since it had faded down to a managble level. About ten more minutes and the pain had almost completely disappeared leaving Loki more exhausted then he had felt in awhile. His muscles ached as well around his stomach but he was much happier with that than the pain that had been afflicting him. "It's almost stopped and gone." Loki murmured softly a bit of awe in his voice. Some part of him hadn't expected the pain to ever stop really, especially not since he thought that Thanos was behind it.

Tony continued to stay next to Loki as he dealt with the pain, kissing his face, petting his hair and rubbing his back. The whole time his mind remained open to Loki, offering every shred of magic he had to help the god cope. Whispering to him, both out loud and in his mind, he didn’t let Loki withdraw or reject him, he couldn’t let him, not after everything they’d been through. Only when Loki began to relax and breathe normally did he slowly straighten up, needing to use his free hand to support himself on the bed. Even if he wasn’t as physically exhausted as Loki, sharing his pain and spending his magic like that had made him lightheaded, the room shifting dangerously before his eyes until Thor pushed a chair into his knees, forcing him to sit down. Loki’s word managed to bring a chuckle from Bruce, who came over to gently roll Loki over a bit so he could check him. “That would be the muscle relaxers doing their job.” He said calmly. “That was what we refer to as false labor, Braxton Hicks contractions. I’ve never heard of them being that intense before, but I guess that’s just another strange side effect of this pregnancy. Lots of things I’ve never heard of before.” He said. Carefully placing his hands on Loki’s belly, he felt around for a moment before using his stethoscope to listen to the babies’ heartbeats. “I’m sure you’re tired and sore, but overall everyone is alright. No lasting damage that I can find….” He continued, glancing up to Loki. “Does anywhere else hurt? Is hard to breathe or anything?”

Despite his annoyance at Tony's disbelief in his concerns about Thanos attacking Loki was glad the man stayed and provided the comfort he did. The god wasn't sure he would have handled the pain without him. Hell Loki didn't think he could so anything about this pregnancy anymore without Tony, not just because the babies required the magic Tony had. Never having the support of a mate before it was something he could now not dream of being without. When the world became clearer and he could focus on things around him he noticed how tired Tony was. He was then glad for his brother's assistance as the elder god pushed a chair into Tony causing the man to sit down. Loki gave Thor a grateful look as Tony sat down but looked to Bruce when the man chuckled at his words and let Bruce roll his over. Loki didn't release Tony's hand as the doctor checked him over and explained that it was the muscle relaxers doing their work that had relieved his pain. It was then that he finally noticed the IV line in his arm. "Oh...." awe in his tone as Bruce explained that it hadn't been Thanos that had attacked him causing the pain. Braxton Hicks.... he had heard of them of course with the ammount of research he had done about pregnancy. "Maybe it was intense because of the shield around the twins... it was more physical than i thought one might be. Maybe my body was squeezing against that and causing more pain." Loki suggested now starting to come to accept that perhaps that pain hadn't been caused by Thanos. He didn't try to apologize to Bruce about everything the man was learning about his pregnancy or his biology in general, he was sure the man wouldn't accept it. "Can you hear them?" Loki questioned when Bruce had the stethoscope to his skin more than a few seconds. He nodded when Bruce said that he must be sore and tired but that there was no lasting damage. "No... everything feels better now, just a bit sore. I think... think its mostly stopped now. Thank you... thank you..." Loki breathed a bit choked up in almost an instant now. His emotions and relief at the pain being gone and the babies being alright causing his eyes to tear up and his throat to get tight.

Loki’s mention of a shield made Bruce freeze a moment, staring at him in surprise before a slightly defeated crossed over his features. “A….Physical shield?” he asked, hand pushing through his hair. “Right when I was thinking I was understanding everything….” He mumbled, Betty’s bright laugh distracting him as she brought over a small cup of water for both Loki and Tony. “You’re just going to have to write the first astrobiology book Bruce.” She said lightly, Tony smiling slightly at her words as he accepted his cup, sipping on the water gratefully. The question about the twins had Bruce turning over the ears of his stethoscope to Loki however, allowing the god to hear the two fluttering heartbeats within him. As Loki listened, Bruce crossed his arms thoughtfully, looking Tony and Loki over. “I imagine the excitement and stress of going out today triggered this, perhaps with a little dehydration and poor circulation from such a long car drive. But…with this having not been common through your pregnancy thus far. I imagine we’ll be meeting the twins sooner rather than later. Your body may just be signaling that it’s ready to have the babies and it’s starting to test everything out, make sure you’re ready.” He said carefully. “With that in mind….We’re going to have to adjust your schedule a bit. No more exercises unless you feel like relaxing in the pool. Minimal movement, no running after Fenrir or anything. If you don’t have to get up and get something, don’t. Daily baths in cool water I think, Betty has some aromatherapy that should help you stay relaxed. And we’ll up your water intake. Maybe turn one of your meals into a smoothie to help with that a bit.” He listed off before pausing and rubbing the back of his neck. “And you may not appreciate me for it, but I’m putting you under medically advised house confinement until these babies come. No more day trips, no more school visits. If we can catch this early if it happens again, maybe it won’t get so bad.’ Turning his attention to Tony, he shook his finger at the genius. “Which means that press conference of yours. Two hours, then he needs to be back here relaxing.” Tony frowned slightly, caught between annoyance and offense that he was being dragged into these rules now, but he gave a small nod all the same.

Loki nodded when Bruce seemed confused about a physical shield and then defeated too by the prospect about it. "I can show you when I have more magic..." Loki offered gently trying to alleiviate any concerns he had caused Bruce. Betty distracted both he and Bruce telling the doctor that he was just going to have to be the person to write the first book on astrobiology. He like Tony gave Betty a soft smile when a cup of water was handled to him. He rose as best he could on the bed with the forearm holding Tony's hand to sip at the cup. He was glad for the water, it feeling cool to his throat and soothe the rest of his nerves. When Bruce moved to hand him the ears of the stethescope Loki was quick to set down his water and taking the devices ears. Hearing the twins heartbeats calmed any remaining anxiety the god had about what had happened. He listened for a long few moments breathing deeply before he took them off and held them out to Tony in an offer to listen to his own children's heartbeats. He then looked to Bruce when the man spoke saying that he assumed the events of the day had caused what had happened to Loki. Loki could only nod but he wondered still if part of what had caused the Braxton hicks was the disolution of the shield around his mind. Still he said nothing about any of such and let the man continue to talk but frowned at the prospect of meeting the twins sooner rather than later. He wasn't ready to have the twins to come and he didn't think Tony was either, there was still too much to do. "If this is my body testing it out what the actual labor for the twins will be I don't think I will be ready for it." Loki complained softly. He couldn't imagine what the actual labor would be like if the Braxton hicks had been so painful.

He had mostly expected what came next from Bruce but that didn't make the god any happier to hear it. More retrictions, basically bed rest which was what he had expected to have been put on. No more excercizing unless in the pool, minimal movement. no getting Fenrir and basically no fetching things for himself. The cool baths and aromatherapy sounded nice enough but he didn't care for all the restrictions even if he did understand them. The drinking of more water was understandable too, even if that would make him have to use the restroom far more often. "No... no I understand this, I figured at the very least I would be stuck on bed rest." Loki sighed, it wasn't like he was going out looking as he did anyway, at least not anywhere else. They had already visited Xavier's school, and he had thought that the interview was going to take place at the mansion. He frowned when the man continued telling Tony that he was not to be at the interview for more than two hours before he needed to be relaxing once more. Loki looked to Tony frowning just as much as his mate did. there were so many rules for him now. If the braxton hicks happened again he wanted Bruce to catch them earlier and not have them become so painful. So he would follow such rules like Bruce wanted. "Fenrir! Is he alright?" Loki questioned suddenly remembering his son.
