The Duke has 3 powers, each tied to an emotion.
Anger = Destruction: He can manifest his energy into heat, which is hot enough to melt steel and causes permanent damage to cells when contact is made. He can only cause damage with direct contact.
Fear = Barrier: He is able to manifest his energy into a nearly impenetrable barrier which can be large enough to cover a mile in diameter. It is limited though, and the larger it is, the less time he can keep it up before he is drained.
Happiness = Healing: He is able to heal small, moderate and some severe injuries. Life threatening injuries typically do not work out because he begins to become fearful in those situations, which causes his avaliable power to change.

The Duke is somewhat emotionally unstable, which makes controlling his abilities a difficult task.
What is their personality like?
The Duke is a very opinionated and brash person. He often starts conflict with his mouth. He is insanely smart, but due to his lack of formal education and strong country accent he is not taken seriously. He does not care for many people but will fight hard for the ones he does care for.
What is their backstory?
The Duke was born in a cabin in Clay County, Kentucky. His mother and father abused him from infancy until he was 4 years old. It was then that his parents were shot and killed by a security guard at a coal mine when they tried to break in. Duke was not seen there and got away, but he was alone.
Eventually he wandered into a small town called Allen and was taken into a small foster home. He was 12 when he was adopted by some farmers who only wanted to use him for labor around the farm. He would work non stop, not being aloud to go to school, but in his free time he studied things on the internet and became quite intelligent in the process.
He was very reserved and did not show much emotion until he turned 16 and a group of kids surrounded him and were going to beat him up because he was considered a disgrace among the townspeople. He discovered his powers when he became angry and pushed one of them away, leaving a really bad burn on the kid's chest. The rest ran at him to attack him, and when he covered himself in defense a barrier manifested and the attackers ran into it, knocking them back very hard and pretty far. They ran away after that but once word spread about what happened he was chased out of town.
He wandered around Kentucky tying to stay under the radar for years, studying up the best he could about what he was. He learned he was a deviant and where his powers came from. Then he learned about Dominion,
and decided he wanted to help them achieve their goal. He wanted to show those who made his life hell that he is better than them.
