It's happening, the new Charter. I love you. Whatever happens after this, I love you.

America sent a text before entering the veil on her way back home, but she sent the message through her thoughts too, so her wouldn't mistake the tone. It was definitely not a goodbye. There was conviction and optimism behind the assurance. They could do this. They could make things better and protect the people of both worlds without using anybody.

Giving a wave to those she knew, the redhead also kept a sharp eye out for Shun. Just in case. He'd missed the wedding somehow, but fortunately she had video of it on her phone.

America probably didn't have to look too long because Shun soon showed up. His expression remained serious, as usual, as he looked on about the others who had gathered so far. Black smoke oozed out of his left eye, as he kept it uncovered. There was no need to wear the patch right now, and he figured maybe he could catch something with it.

He stepped into the area, then went to hang out by one of the walls while they waited. He didn't greet anyone. He was just there.

It was just about time to get this done with. And he had a bad feeling about what was about to transpire.

Cass straightened up as the two older men approached the railing, feet now touching the ground again. "Looks fun!" she said looking up to Algernon and Jeremiah before looking back down again with a slight grimace. "I'm really glad it's them doing it and not me," she added.

"So I'm not quite sure what's supposed to happen now that we've assembled everything that was uh...needed for whatever is happening. Do either of you have a better run down than me?" Cass's bright blue eyes glanced between both men expectantly.

Jeremiah, when he caught sight of Shun, just gave him a look. The kind of look that said your mystery double has been up to s**t again. His gaze flicked back to Cass and nodded.

"There will likely be instruction given at some point but, essentially, what you've said is it. At some point we'll be needed for casting, as we're simultaneously destroying and creating the Charter anew."

Shun caught that look Jeremiah shot towards him. His eyes narrowed as he really didn't like that look at all.

He had enough s**t to deal with. But there were other things at hand. As Jeremiah was busy, he continued to keep to himself otherwise.

Temperance showed up in blue scrubs, having been summoned right after (luckily not during) a shift. She was dead tired, twelve hours on her feet with only one fifteen minutes break tired. But they had things to do and there was no way she wouldn't be showing up for something which would affect her and so many others. Hart, however, wasn't here, she noted. At least, not yet. She liked to think they'd grown marginally closer. At least she didn't worry about the fetch stabbing her in the back.

There were a few already gathered, but no one she really knew (not that the number of those people was terrible high, anyway). Leaning over the railing, she snapped a picture of the ritualistic set-up on her phone.

---------------------------------------

There were no cupcakes. In fact, there were no baked goods at all this time. Instead, Horace's arms were filled with a bulky styrofoam cooler. It was kind of heavy because of all the ice he'd dumped in it, but he hoped it would keep things from getting.... squishy. Melany, however, had opted to stay at him and Horace hadn't insisted. Theoretically, they wouldn't need her.

He nodded briefly as Nasir and looked around to see if his 'compatriots' were here yet.

------------------------
No were-ing, she reminded herself sternly. Preacher sighed and picked at a hole in her jeans. She'd immediately found the most out of the way chair she could and now was curled up in it, people watching. But it was boring. Reaching into her messenger bag, she pulled out a plastic baggie full of cheetos. Crunch, crunch.

Still a-munching, she oozed out of the chair to go stare at the set-up below. Was that a sigil?

Theo seriously debated ignoring the portal when it first appeared. He knew he had the will to tell it to ******** right off, and in his mind he would be completely justified in doing so. But his opinion of the otherworld had changed, and it was the 17th. He kind of wanted to see the result of what he had helped to build. He was confident that he wouldn't lose Toto, he couldn't now that he had found him, and the rest of the problems with the charter really weren't his. He had nothing to lose and nothing better to do with his time.

The warg stepped through, missing his skunk already, and took a few wide-eyed steps toward the hole in the center of the space.

When Lily stepped into existence, it was barefoot and washed in a thin layer of sweat. There was a towel around her neck and a foam block in her hand, and she wore dark form-fitting clothes that covered more than they showed. Wiping her face with the towel, she looked around at the general assembly and then down at the phone in her hand, taking note of the time.

Oh. They were doing the charter thing now. Right.

She recognized most of the faces, but gravitated towards the general group around Nasir, giving him a brief nod of greeting. Something was happening on the floor below, but Lily didn't pay it much mind. She was more interested in watching people as they teleported in, and perhaps in summoning herself some shoes. She scuffed her toes against the ground and found herself wearing a simple foot covering, not unlike a ballet flat. It was basic, but it worked for the time being.

Alexis looked over at Shun with murder in their eyes -- and their inner darkness had changed, too. It'd been an ocean, before; now they looked drowned. It pooled at their neck, their heart, their wrists, their fingertips; their eyes were black, black, black ink, dripping down their face - with every breath it oozed further.

But that was all metaphysical, really, so it was probably fine.

They looked away.

Kaleb entered with his usual nervous air, somehow managing to look even smaller than he was. He carried with him the usual well-worn messenger bag with it's comforting books, a necessary security blanket for stepping through the shimmering curtain into the unknown.

His spirits, however, were bolstered as he recognized not just one or two familiar faces, but a growing handful dotting the room here and there. Was the whole magical community going to be here? Despite the nervous twist in his stomach, he felt a little reassured by the group, and even a little bit proud to be a part of it.

Before wandering over to say greetings to his closest friends, he made his way to where Leila stood. Even the lady next to her was somewhat familiar, although they had never met personally.

"This is it, right? The new charter stuff?" He asked hesitantly.

Shiloh arrived without much fanfare. He wasn't awestruck by the set up of the Court, he was just... here. Whereas others had arrived through the shimmering portal, Shiloh had taken a side-road to his domain to pick up an important article for the events that would transpire.

One hand held Jamie's (of course it did) and the other held onto a leather folio, the symbol of a lock glowing faintly on the back of it. He looked angry—maybe tired? Definitely tired—and so, so, so done. His fingers itched absentmindedly at his throat.

A nice line had formed there.

Just because he had rapid regeneration didn't mean he didn't scar. "I guess this is do or die time, huh?" He gave Jamie his best attempt at an earnest smile. It wavered, but it was an attempt, and that mattered a lot. "There's a lot of people here already..." Shun, for example, got something of an empty glare. The Mercer conglomerate received little acknowledgment at all, but Jamie would feel the flare of rage there, like a freshly stoked fire. The unfamiliar girl with them was a little curious; Shiloh thought he knew everyone in the magic community.

    Apparently it wasn't the case.

Which was fine, because they'd all get real acquainted tonight. He noticed Kaleb in the crowd and offered him a small wave, and then did the same when he saw America.

Rabbit had been waiting for a summons since four in the morning, pacing a groove in the carpet and smoking so many cigarettes in succession that he made himself nauseous. A couple of drinks had mysteriously found themselves down his throat as well, despite the fact that it was well before noon, but the sirens couldn't see him, safely stowed as they were in a location not even he could name, so that was completely all right.

When the portal appeared he inhaled deeply, trying to come off as a proper example as he stepped through. He had hoped the change in attire would help him compose himself, but when he was left in his jeans and fuzzy blue sweater, he realized he'd have to do that on his own. Spotting Temperance, he made his way over to his former tithe, glancing at her phone then at what she was taking a picture of. Oh, look. A gaping hole with a giant sigil at its bottom. Right.

"Hey! I hope you've been okay? I feel like I should have thrown a party or made a noble puberty pamphlet or something, but there's been a lot going on." While there was technically no obligation to help new nobility through the other side of their induction, he had hoped he would have been of more assistance than this.

Oliver had been on campus when the portal appeared, and while he didn't want to go, he was sure there was about four people who would kill him if he didn't turn up. Did everyone get a private summon like this? Would Elliot? He sent him a text just to be sure before he stepped through.

Half expecting his attire to change, Oliver was pleasantly surprised when it didn't, even if it meant he looked like a tired starving college student (where was the lie, really) because he hadn't dressed to impress today. His hair was clipped back haphazardly, he was drowning in a hoodie a size too big for him and his jeans had holes in the heels, but whatever. He yawned before trying to shake the sleep out of himself.

"Oh," He also found himself drawn to the railing at first, if only to marvel at the design at the bottom. Like Temperance, he was taking a snapchat of it, for lie, science. "Might as well..."

Oh, right, he should probably assess who all was even here.

"Hey Nasir." He started to walk over to him and his companions (both were unfamiliar), but he stopped when he belatedly noticed Horace, Hey! Over here. Why do you have a—oh... He grimaced a little.

Chester hadn't been at home when the other side had sent its summons. Frankly, he hadn't been expecting an invitation at all, and for a full minute he simply watched the hovering portal in the Rider-Waite library, debating whether or not to show up. He was invested because of the people he knew, he had participated in the collection of components, but he still didn't feel like this was for him.

In the end, he proceeded into court with a sigh, struck by the stark beauty of the space and the calm he knew wouldn't last. He saw plenty of familiar faces, but Chester remained where he was, leaning back against the wall when the portal disappeared behind him.

She looked up and smiled. "Hi, Rabbit. What- like one of those pamphlets we keep at the hospital? 'Here's this blood test and you should take take it due to vague reason 1 and vague reason 2'." Temperance shook her head. "I think I've been doing okay. Did you know that the court used to have a sort of clinic as well? I'm trying to get it properly re-stocked, but a lot of the fetches don't seem to really trust me." She trailed her fingers along the railing. It would take a lot of work. If only there were 36 hours in a day and she needed to sleep for exactly zero of them, that'd be great. Maybe magic could make that happen.

"Oh, look at this." Suddenly Temperance had six arms.
