Charlie sighed at what he said, smiling a bit as he nuzzled against the other's chest. He knew he still needed to be exposed to things, but he liked when Lori tried to pump him up with compliments and positivity. "Thanks, Lori. You're the best," he said sweetly. He saw how late it was, and thought it best to go to bed. "Well, I guess it's time to hit the hay," he said, reluctantly pulling away from the other. He stood up, but then thought about his situation. Would today be the last day that they could ever be casual? Would today be the last day they could be together? "Hey uh...can I ask for something weird?" He asked, scratching his arm nervously. "Can...I sleep with you tonight? For old time's sake? Like a...rite of passage?" He asked, joking a bit at the last part. Back before they lived here, Lori lived alone. He didn't really have a place for Charlie yet, and Charlie had issues sleeping alone (He often shared a room with a foster sibling). He'd usually sleep with Lori for the first year or so. He just wanted to feel that closeness again. This might be the last time he could.

It was sort of a weird request, but he had kinda scarred him with the film, so he definitely owed him one. "Yeah, that's fine. Just don't kick me out of bed." Charlie was even more of a cuddle bug when he was asleep, and even if they started out on opposite ends of the bed, a few hours in and Lori would be on his side with Charlie molded against him. It was kinda cute except in the dead of summer when the apartment was deadly hot. He cleaned up what little was out before preparing for bed himself. He had to peel out of the shirt like a snake, and even then it was difficult, he'd wash it later and hand it off to Charlie, he definitely couldn't use it anymore. For once he wasn't particularly tired, but he wanted to get up early to get some things done, and he was certain his body would protest doing anything differently.
He had a double bed that was pushed up against the wall. He cleared off the book and iPod and other stuff that he had just kinda thrown on the bed throughout the day and actually tried to straighten out the covers a little. In common areas, he tried to be at least a little neat, but in his own room it was just organized and tidy enough to function well. He pretty much never made his bed, and stuff he had been using recently was piled on the nightstand or dresser in no logical order. "Wall side or other side?" he asked Charlie.

Charlie gave a bright smile, clapping her hands together. "Yay~! Sleepover!" He joked, running off to his room to get ready. He threw on a short pair of baby blue shorts and a white T that was too big. He brushed his teeth and washed his face before coming back, leaping onto the bed face first. "Outside place, please," he said, cuddling into bed. Charlie had some crazy claustrophobia. He didn't know why, but small spaces gave him anxiety attacks. Being near the wall wasn't that bad, but it did make him uncomfortable. "Ah,
I get to be warm tonight~" he sang, shoving his face back into the pillow. Holy crap the ved smelled like Lori. It was so nice being in here.

"Uh-huh, it's all fun and games until I accidentally roll over on you." Not that he would, he was pretty careful and in all of the times they had shared a room, it had never happened. He was wearing a pair of light flannel pajama bottoms and a plain white undershirt, pretty much his standard wear. He had to climb into bed from the foot because someone was occupying the entrance side. It would make things difficult in the morning when he needed to sneak out, but hopefully he would be able to manage. "Your feet aren't freezing, are they? Cause that is one hell of an evil way to wake someone up." More like liable to send the other into cardiac arrest, but no need to be dramatic.

Charlie watched the other climb in, immediately moving closer to steal some warmth. "Not unless you keep them warm for me," he said, twisting his feet up in the legs of Lori's pants, teasing the other. He wondered what he'd do without Lori. What would their life be like after tomorrow? Would they grow apart? Would he be kicked out? Or will they actually be closer than ever before? He really hoped the other would be happy with his feelings, and maybe even embrace them. A boy could dream, right? He snuggled up next to the other, deciding not to dwell until morning. "Good night, Lori. See you in the morning," he said sweetly, closing his eyes to sleep.

He jumped slightly when the cold hit, it wasn’t too bad, but still it was kinda cold against his warm skin. “Gute nacht, Charlie.” It didn’t take long for him to fall asleep, not because his mind was worry-free, but because the same worries were constantly in his mind and he had made peace with them. He wrapped an arm around Charlie’s shoulders, the boy was so small, it was almost like back then, like he was still a child, but he knew he couldn’t be thinking like that anymore.
The next morning he woke up extra early and snuck out of the room, trying hard not to wake up Charlie. He made it to the kitchen with his secret stash. Opening up the bags, he pulled out streamers and a birthday sign as well as a few cooking ingredients. He decorated first, trying not to go overboard, but still streamers and such were kind of fun to play with. Once he had gotten that part done, he started fixing breakfast: pancakes with gummy bears or chocolate chips cooked in them, and some other breakfast foods.

Charlie had trouble falling asleep again.
As soon as he could tell that Lori was asleep from his breathing patterns, he got up and took some melatonin so he could crash. It didn't take long for it to kick in, and passed out promptly.
His dreams were absolutely not good. It was dark, and he was cramped. It didn't take long for him to realize he was locked in some kind of box or chest. He started screaming, freaking out in such a tiny place. Anxiety over came him as he somehow knew that Lori was outside the box, drinking coffee and shaking his head disappointingly at the chest, not minding the racket the other was making. Charlie felt like he was going to die there, the air getting thick and tears stinging his eyes as he begged Lori to let him out. He was terrified.
Charlie woke up with a startled gasp, reaching over to grab onto Lori, but only grabbing bed sheets. He panicked for a millisecond, hand moving around frantically to find the other until he realized what had happened. It was just a dream, and Lori had absolutely gotten up earlier than him. Charlie had slept til 11, and he frowned, sitting up. He reached up and rubbed the forming tears out of his eyes from the dreams he had. Then it hit him. Today was the day. Today would absolutely change everything, for better or for worse. He felt nauseous, but stood up anyway, levitating out of the room lazily, again, letting his feet drag. He yawned, noticing all the decorations, and all the food on the table, and his face burst into a wide, bright smile. "Lori!" He gasped, touched at the other man's sweetness. He wasn't really sure what to say as he floated over, wrapping his arms around the giant man in a hug. "Thank you!" He said happily, loving when the other did anything for him.

It was sort of hard keeping everything warm and ready for the other, but he did have a few cooking tricks up his sleeve, even if there weren’t that many. “Herzlich zum Geburtstag.” Maybe German first thing in the morning was a little rough, but it was the first thing his mind went to. Growing up in his household, he spoke almost exclusively German at home, and English outside. It was just sort of habit now.
The hug was a bit of a surprise, though it really shouldn’t have been, that was one hundred percent Charlie’s nature. “Was? Denkst du…did you think I had forgotten?” He doubted that, but still, it was his partner’s birthday, eighteenth at that, surely a date not to be forgotten or overlooked. Something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. He gently tilted Charlie’s head up to look at him, and his suspicions were confirmed. “Your eyes are red. Were you crying earlier? Is everything alright?” May not have been the wisest move to keep Charlie not feeling self-conscientious, but that was who Lori was. It didn’t matter what sign or symptom he saw, he always had to get to the bottom of things and make them right. In that regard, it was a good thing Charlie wasn’t popular among his peers. Lori would have embarrassed him to death by now.

Charlie chuckled, hugging his tighter. "No! Of course not! I'm just happy," he replied to the other, nuzzling his chest. "Vielen Dank. Ich liebe es!" he said back, having learned enough German to get that out. Sure, it was still earlier, but sometimes Lori babbled in German, so he had to keep up. He was a bit startled when the other took his face and tilted it up, a light pink tint covering his cheeks at the gentle touch. Whoa, this was a bit weird for Lori. Of course, Lori was gentle, but this touch was almost affectionate. That was not his thing. When the other mentioned his red eyes, he gave a small sniffle in response, his nose still a bit runny. "Yeah. It was just a bad dream though. No need to worry, Lorcan," he said, a sunny smile forming back on his face sweetly.

It was rather strange to be addressed by his full first name, that was usually reserved for admonishment whether mock or real. Still, there was no hint of admonishment to what he said. Curious. "Well, if you want to tell me about it you can of course, but may I suggest we do so over breakfast? My cooking is mediocre at best, and probably only gets worse with time." Well, he wasn't actually that bad, but he was nowhere near Charlie's caliber, and really ok to decent was the best term to describe it. He wasn't actually hungry, still full from last night, which he found disconcerting, but there was no need in letting that slip. May as well appear perfectly fine for today, maybe tomorrow something might let slip.

Charlie gave a small appreciative smile, pushing hair behind his ear awkwardly. He thought about the box, and shivered. "I'd rather not," he said simply before making his place at the table. "Lori, I'll eat anything you make. What's important is that you made it with love," he said teasingly, holding up his hands in a heart. He knew Lori wasn't amazing at cooking, but he did try his best. Plus, he usually made stuff that his mother or grandmother showed him, which Charlie always loved. He really should make something traditionally German for him soon. "Whatcha make, chef?" He asked cheerfully, hoping the other would forget about his bad dreams. He didn't like discussing them, but nights that his powers broke things always made Lori worry. Charlie never remembered those dreams.

He rolled his eyes about the whole "made with love" part. He had heard some people say it made a difference, but likely only a little he thought. "I did just a little but of experimentation this time, so it may just be poisonous. Heard about dessert-like pancakes from somewhere, thought I would give it a try. So we have chocolate chip pancakes, which should be safe, and gummy bear pancakes, consume at your own risk. Other than that I've got weisswurst and fried potatoes. Stereotypical of me, I know." He knew that there were fancy terms that he could be using, but it just seemed deceitful, especially as these were recipes that had been a staple in the family, not the special at some fancy restaurant. He was still a little worried about whatever the nightmare had been, but nothing had been trashed, so it couldn't have been too horrible. "Feel free to translate any of that into culinary speak if you want."

Charlie smiled in appreciation, taking a little bit of everything. The gummy bear pancakes had their own plate, for they actually kind of looked like garbage. He'd try it, but he didn't want it touching his other food. He decided to try those first, pouring syrup on them. "You say 'culinary speak' as if it's a whole different language," he said, giggling a bit.
He took a bit bite of the pancake, his face screwing into something...not great. "Oh. These are...not good, Lori," he said truthfully, much like when he tried the beer last night. He actually liked them better than the beer. "I think it's more of the dish than your cooking though." He ate a few more bites as to not waste them before moving on to what he assumed would be amazing. And it was, per usual. He smiled, using his shadows to get some powdered sugar to put on the chocolate chip pancakes, and some whipped cream as well, putting them on. "Next time you make these let's try a strawberry syrup," he suggested, chowing down happily. It was a good, normal breakfast. He wondered how much longer they could be just "normal". He wondered when he'd finally spill the beans to Lori: that he was in love with him.

He grabbed a few as well, as he hadn't made all that many and he didn't want to waste them. Charlie was right, they weren't that good, but they weren't horrible either. "It was an experiment I had heard of. And at least I didn't use up all of the candy." It would have been tragic to use it all up on something no one really liked. "And culinary speak is another language. When else are you going to use French next German next to Polish? And actually have people understand it at that." He cocked an eyebrow at the mentioning of strawberry syrup, "only if you make it or know where to buy it." Honestly he had never heard of strawberry syrup before, but it made sense that it existed somewhere.
He probably only had a little more on his plate than Charlie did, which overall was unusual, but he didn't seem to mind it much. For that matter, he probably would have been fine not eating anything. His body just wasn't up to it. That and he was actually pretty nervous.

Charlie giggled a bit. "I'm glad. We can snack on gummy bears later tonight." That is, if his appetite holds up. He was getting more and more nervous and his stomach was upset. He wanted to eat enough to please Lori, though. His pace was slow. "Touche'." He put a bite of sausage in his mouth, shrugging. "I can learn to make it. It'll probably take some time, though." He noticed how little Lori seemed to be eating as well.
He wondered if his dinner was too big, or if maybe something was bothering him too. That made him even more nervous. Now he felt like he was going to be sick. "Hey, Lori? Is...everything okay?" He asked, now unable to eat. He'd force it soon enough. Lori did slave over this meal after all. Charlie decided he'd just throw it back up later if he had to.
