What is their backstory? Katrina was born in the desolate woods of Romania, raised in a small European town by her parents. She had always known that she was different in some way... Starting with when Katrina found she was able to quite literally speak to the bats that lived in the woods near her home. Things began to rapidly change for Katrina as she grew up, after she found herself with an incurable blood related illness that no doctor was able to diagnose. Unable to obtain nutrients from food no matter what she ate, Katrina slowly began to starve to death due to this 'illness'. However, that wasn't the only change that Katrina noticed. After being released from the hospital, told that there was nothing else they could do for her... On the way home, she suddenly scented blood. Lots of it. It was in that moment that something else inside Katrina took hold over her. Feeling her speed strangely increasing, she began to track the scent, following it until she reached a crime scene in an alleyway and the murderer behind it. As she looked at the murderer, she found that she was able to quite literally sense the blood inside him... And that it awakened her inner hunter, sending her into a blood frenzy. That evening marked the night of Katrina's first kill. Her sickness and hunger were healed soon the moment Katrina began to drink blood, but that wasn't all. She found that she could quite literally control it. Out of not wanting to cause harm to her family due to her new discoveries and hard to control blood lust, Katrina faked her own death to them by sending them a false letter from the hospital and left in search of a new life.
