[Event] A New Queen of Pride Rock

Over the last month, rumors surrounding abdication and succession have dominated the social circles in the Pridelands. King Tau was king no longer! The young king passed the crown, and the burden of it, back to his grandfather; the venerable Simi. In an emergency meeting with his council, Simi called himself regent, not king, and set about naming a new heir and monarch for the Pridelands. Amending the order of succession once more, Simi named his niece his heir and crown princess of the Pridelands.

Mahea was a well-known Pridelander, recognized for her talents as a healer and diplomatic skills already shown in aiding some former Pridelanders in finding and negotiating a place in a new pride. However, she was not ready for the task of ruling a pride so large and vast as the Pridelands, but the council has shown to be united in their support for Mahea, aiding in tutoring her alongside Simi. While she had only been the Pridelands' crown princess for less than a month, a steep decline in Simi's health forced the royal family to act.

On a cool morning following a night of rainfall, the amber lioness ascended Pride Rock with the confidence befitting her new position as monarch of the Pridelands. Taking a moment to observe from above, she waited for the gathered creatures to calm themselves before speaking. "Pridelanders!" Mahea called, "This is our home. The lands of our ancestors and our children. These lands have ever been my home and even when away from them, I am called back. I rise before you as queen, but also a guardian of you, these lands, and the Circle of Life."

Once silence fell, Mahea roared to the Pridelands, solidifying her place as Queen, waiting to see if the Pridelands would roar back.

Key Notes

• Mahea is on Pride Rock. Your Pridelanders are way down on the grass below. In this RP, there is no interaction between the Queen. You are interacting with your fellow members.
  
• This ORP is open for anyone to join, but each user may only have one non-Pridelander join this event.
  
• If you do not have a Pridelander or SoA, you may roleplay an unlined creature, such as a zebra, elephant, warthog, or giraffe.
  
• It is entirely possible for your Pridelander to be unhappy with this announcement. Conflicts of opinion are quite alright.
  
• Quite a bit has changed between the 2018 meta and now! The Pridelands' history has been updated. Please take the time to read it to see where the Pridelands are currently.
  
• Vitha's cult is no longer active and has effectively disbanded.
  
• The murder and kidnapping cases have been cold for years with no further victims.
  
• Tau will remain in the Pridelands as a hunter.
  
• This ORP will remain open permanently for all Pridelanders to participate. Please bear in mind when your Pridelanders joined or was born, to see if they would have been able to be present.

Macheo was rather new to the pridelands, despite having lived near the area her entire life, she had only just recently joined the pride in an official capacity. She'd barely begun to get her bearings, listening quietly to the chatter and rumors over the last month, and attempting to piece things together herself. It seemed, she had joined at a particularly uncertain time for the pridelands and that had made her nervous. Maybe not quite so nervous as to regret her joining altogether, but certainly enough to make her feel uneasy.

But here she stood, gathered with the rest of the pride, and what had to be the entirety of the pridelands itself, at the bottom of pride rock looking up as the solitary lioness made her way to the edge of it. The whole experience had her a bit awestruck as she had never once been a part of something so much bigger than herself. Her golden eyes locked on the form of Mahea as she watched the regal lioness take her place on pride rock, so high above them all, that she couldn't help but be stunned into silence at the sight of it.

Her ears twisted forward as she listened to every word, a conflicting sense of calm and excitement griping Macheo. It seemed whatever turmoil she had jumped into, would be coming to an end with the rise of a new queen. When Mahea's speech ended and the queen gave out a roar, Macheo couldn't help the quiet, "Wow," that had escaped her maw. It was a lot. For someone who had been on their own for most of their life, she hadn't quite expected to be drawn in so thoroughly. In that moment, in a sheer sense of joy and an overwhelming feeling of belonging, she understood what it meant to have a home and a pride. And for that, she did not hesitate to roar back at the new queen.

Calanthe roared out for her new queen. The decline of the old was sad but thus was life. She'd accepted it long ago. The roar back of her queen made her heart swell with pride. Looking around to her other pride members, the pale lioness couldn't help the excitement that bubbled up inside her.

Having been born in the pride, she'd seen a couple of new rulers, but something about this new queen filled her with more hope than she had in a while. They were going to be living in a new time. Rules may change. She wasn't sure, but honestly Calanthe wanted to find out.

"Wow indeed!" She said, hearing someone near her speak in awe. "She's got big paws to fill, but I think she's going to do amazing."
