What makes them speacial is the noise that they make at night which is "Kokkie" sound (not cookie its the "co" from "coshure" and the "kie" from "cookie") and because of it its what they are name after.
I took this picture at my grandmothers house this summer when i was cutting down a banana tree so i would the the fruit and the coqui just fell on me yea it feel nasty.
