Certainly one of Histories more colorful characters (and the model for Johnny Depp's most brilliant character acting), Hunter S Thompson is one of America's favorite dope fiends.
May his perpetually high soul RIP
I am re-entering this for two reasons. The shear number of voters was really disappointing, and a certain group (who I shall not mention) decided that I should be a target of mass down voting in week 46.

- Raoul is the fictive name he takes in the movie, it is his pseudonym for reporting on the race and getting hotel rooms, it never specifies the characters name in the movie

...And in case you're confused, the name of the movie character is Raoul Duke even though he is based directly on Hunter himself.
