Do you remember
that old doll?
The one you used to take to bed
when you were a child?
The one you tucked away
with your bunny rabbit
your old kite
your children's books
when you said
"I'm too old for this now."
Her yarn hair is dusty now
her dress is spattered with grime
her sewn-up skin is tattered, torn
and her button eyes glimmer dully
from beneath ashen cobwebs.
