I wouldve made it that it was two men, a man and a god. In a fit of lonliness in the absence of his Godly lover, the man, [insert name], cheated on him. When the God found out, he burned his unfaithful lover to a crisp, but couldn't bare to kill the man he loved. So he instead cursed him to forever be a freak of nature, shunned by the world.
