• Artist Info: Rialet- short for Lorialet.

And what, you may ask (or not)is a Lorialet? Aside from that freaky elite four boss-lady from the original pokemon games?
A lorialet is actually a type of fairy, or an 'enchanted child'. As far as it's mythical origins are concerned, there are two main myths.

Myth 1- When a women undresses by the light of the full moon, she will become pregnant and her child will be a lorialet. Mortals who gaze too long at the moon also evidently become Lorialets.

Myth 2- Lorialets are the children of Selene, the moon goddess from greco-roman mythology, and her lover, Endymion. Legend says that Endymion was a youth of surpassing beauty, and while he was out at night, guarding his sheep (he was a shepard)Selene saw him and fell in love with him. she loved him so much that she put him in an eternal sleep, from which he never wakes, so that he'll always be there when she makes her rounds across the sky. He neither ages nor dies, lying forever asleep on the mountainside under the light of the moon. It is said that Selene bore him fifty daughters...and one son. (I would feel so sorry for that boy...) The son, enticed by the lure of the earth below, left the heavens to live there. The lorialets are his decendents, always wishing to return to the moon.
It is agreed that Lorialets, wherever their origins, will never find true happiness on earth. They are fairy-touched, and will always seek to escape they reality they live in. They are small and pale, and have a rather abstracted manner of dressing due to their preoccupation. Quiet, melancholic, and solitary, they seek out towers, attics, hidden glades, silent places of magic and wonder. Followed by cats and fireflies, gloworms, moths, and mushrooms, they are talented and intelligent, but look down on using their abilities for "practical purposes". They have powers of prophecy, and have perfected the art of metaphysical travel, but seldom share the knowledge they acquire this way. They live inside themselves, removed from the mundane, their mind roaming the world of dreams and visions.

They have wings, visable only to others of their kind. They are poets, musicians, and wanderers, exploring their dreamscape while neglecting reality. It is said the weather reflects their emotions- it rains when they cry, but when they laugh the sun shines.

While the weather isn't quite as accommodating to me, I'm also an artist and a dreamer, with a habit of researching odd things. I'm a specialist in mythology and folklore, though I'm fairly knowledgable about the ancient civilizations as well. I like learning languages, especially dead ones. I study religions and philosophy in my free time. I read...alot. I like to write stories. I stay up at odd hours of the night, and prefer to sleep during the day. I go to bed when the sun rises, unless my schedule prevents it. (Which, sadly, it often does.)
It snows alot where I live...wonder what emotion that would be...
