• Chapter 1- Gaia’s Protecter

“Why did you guys decide to move here?” Hiro asked his parents. He stood outside Barton Town. He had light blue eyes and red hair. He wore a black and white zip-up sweatshirt and blue jeans.

“You’re dad got a job here,” his mom answered.

“Ah,” Hiro replied. He entered through the door and into Barton Town. “I’m gonna go check out this place. I’m meet at home later!” Hiro ran into a crowd of people.

“We do we have a sixteen-year-old again?” his dad asked.

“I don’t know, but I’m guessing were cursed,” his mom answered.

Hiro ran through the crowd of people. He was so far glad to have moved here. He came to a fountain square and headed into a blue shop. In the shop was a boy in his twenties. He had dirty blond hair and brown eyes and wore a brown suit and a brown hat (complete with tan feather) to match.

“Welcome,” the boy greeted. “I’m Ian, the owner of this here shop, called the Barton Boutique. That—“ He pointed to a blue-furred cat sitting on the cash register “—is my cat Rufus. He helps run this here shop.

    “I’m Hiro Sato,” Hiro greeted.

“You’re knew here, aren’t you?” Ian asked. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you before.”

“Yeah, my parents and I moved here today,” Hiro explained.

“That’s cool,” Ian replied. “I guess I’ll be seeing you around then.”

“Yeah,” Hiro grinned. HE left without buying anything. He got outside to see some kids fighting in the fountain.

“What the hell did you do with it!?” a kid asked.

“I didn’t steal it, dumbass!” the other kid shot back. “Get your facts straight!”

“I know you took it!” the first kid yelled. “Now where is it?”

    “I didn’t take it!”

    “Yes, you did!”

Hiro ran up to the kids and stepped between them. “Knock it off, both of you!” he yelled. Unfortunately, one of the kids had already sent a punch in for the other, but hit Hiro, sending him flying into the ground, head first.

“Oh my God!?” a girl exclaimed. “Is he dead!?”

Another kid ran over to him and checked his neck. “No pulse! He’s dead!”

“I can’t believe we killed him,” the second kid said in shock. By now, many people (including Ian and Rufus) had gathered and were staring at the dead body.

The first kid looked down and picked up a bag. “There’s my money,” he said.

Hiro got up and stared at his hands. “Am I…dead?” he asked no one in particular.

“Don’t worry, you aren’t,” a voice told him.

“Who’s there!?” Hiro asked. He shot up and took in his surroundings. He was in an endless grassy field. In front of him stood a kid his age with blue hair and yellow eyes, wearing a white shirt, blue vest, and blue pants. “Where am I?”

“I’m Gaia, and you’re in my realm,” the kid explained.

“Why named that?” Hiro asked. “It sounds girly and I mean, Gaia’s the name of our world.”

“Because I protect that world,” Gaia explained. “I watch over the planet and make sure things go right.”

“Why am I here?” Hiro asked. “I should be dead.”

“Because you aren’t meant to die,” Gaia explained. “You are Gaia’s hero. You are destined to go on great adventures and do great things. Your adventure starts now, and you can’t be dead, not yet.”

“Are you saying I’m supposed to save the world?” Hiro asked.

“I guess you could put it that way,” Gaia replied.

“I’m just a kid!” Hiro pointed out. “How can I save the world!? There isn’t even something threatening it yet!”

“Not right now, but Gaia has a twisting future, and you’ll be a part of it,” Gaia told him. “A lot’s going to happen and you’ll keep Gaia from chaos.”

“I’m having trouble believing you,” Hiro replied. “You give me a reason why I should.”

“You just died in a square in Barton Town and ended up here a second later perfectly fine,” Gaia pointed out.

“This could be a dream,” Hiro suggested.

Gaia punched Hiro’s gut. “Do dreams hurt?” he asked.

    “Good point,” Hiro gasped.

“Well, let’s head back to Gaia,” Gaia told him, touching his shoulder and closing his eyes. “By the way, I’ll be following and watching you from now on.”

“Okay,” Hiro replied, convinced. The next thing he knew he was laying in a hospital bed with his head getting worked on in surgery.
