• Long ago when the children of pure bloods could roam free without the fear of pain and death, my story begins to form. The streets of my town were cover in snow and my friend and I were rushing home. The cold weather didn’t settle well with our kind, but yet it was still was calming. Each tree, pond, and field glistened in the ice and snow. Joy and love flowed through the air like perfume. All I could smell was the blood of some poor soul whom cut themselves with their ice skate, while putting it on. Well it’s a normal thing, no matter where I am the smell of blood and chaos lingered. It hunted me down with every step I took; this curse of mine never lets up. Well until that night. I was walking home during the late hours when I was distracted by an unfamiliar smell. It wasn’t my vampire comrades and it wasn’t a human. It had the smell of peace and love. I ran towards the scent. My senses were going insane; this aroma was what my body yearned for. You see unlike my vampire brethren, I hate the taste of blood. It doesn’t suite well with my body, and no matter how much I try I couldn’t kill an innocent life. The smell became stronger, and I stopped. My heartbeat sped up.
“What wrong with you?” a blonde hair teen asked me.
“Your scent…are you one of the fallen angels the council of elders warn us about?” I glared.
“Ahh, then that means you’re a vampire. Please tell me, are you the fair maiden known as ‘Scarlet Moonstone’?” I was shocked.
“How do you know my name?!” I glared even harder. The blonde boy knelt so we at eye level. He reached out and caressed the side of my face.
“Such a beautiful girl as you should not glare, but smile with dignity. Here I believe this is yours,” he pulled out of his pocket a small amulet. I looked into his golden eyes.
“Thank you, this amulet belonged to my mother.” I smiled and graciously took my amulet, “where did you find it?”
“All questions with answered in good time, for now I must bid you farewell.”
    “Wait what is your name?”
“A vampire showing kindness and interest in an angel is unheard up, but if really must know… its Leo.”
“Thank you again Leo.” After that I never saw him again. I made a promise to myself to find him before the eve of my eighteenth birthday. Unfortunately for me the reason my friend and I were rushing was so we would be late to my eighteenth birthday party. Hmm, I now at the legal age to acquire a human partner. It’s too bad really that it would be pointless for me to take a human partner, the only need for them it feed their vampire masters. Besides I was looking forward to finding that angel again. It has been five years since we last met and each year I become more curious. I smiled as my flowing red hair blew in the wind.
“Hey Scarlet, your being kinda quiet are you alright?” Scythia asked me. My blue eyes glanced at her.
    “I’m fine, just…lost in thought.”
“Well shape up, if your spacing off during your party your father will lecture you again.”
“You are always showing concern for me aren’t you?” I smiled a toothy smile.
“I see you followed my advice, Scarlet.” My eyes grew. I turned slowly. “Le…Le…Leo?”
“You look like you seen a ghost.” Tears started to form in my eyes. Scythia glared and stood in front of me. She barred her fangs to show she was ready to protect me.
“Down kitty cat, I’m not going to harm her. I just come to give her gift.”
“How did you know I was…?”
“… A Werecat, Not that hard actually. This world you live in full of creatures and divine beings, but to be honest your mannerisms gave it away.”
“Whoa wait a minute... how do you know lady Scarlet?” I grabbed her shoulder.
    “Because we have met before.”
“What!? We were ordered to kill these things when we saw them… and you befriend one.”
“Such a quarrel between friends should not occur. I am most sorry if I caused you trouble,” he tosses a small box into my hands, “I’ll be one way and let you two talk.”
“WAIT A MINUTE!” Leo looked a little stunned, “Answer my question, where did you find my mother’s amulet?!” Scythia looked confused.
“Hmm, such a memory…lets see…um, I believe I found it in the meadow.” He smiled. I smiled back. Then my smile was gone when a stabbing pain in my chest decided to become noticed. I grabbed my chest and fell to my knees. My vision was becoming blurry and my self-control of my instincts started to dissipate.
“Lady Scarlet, you refused you blood tablets didn’t you?” I let out a growl to warn her to stay away. I could feel my eye turning red from my blood lust and my nail slowly turning into claws. I could feel a light, gentle touch on my shoulder.
“You must control these urges if you are to live, and take care of you body in all ways possible. If what you need is blood then I will give some of mine, but only this once.” My eyes met his, and all I could do is cry.
“No…I could do that to you… if you are bitten you to will share my curse,” I screamed as the pain grew stronger.
“It is better think of you in time like this, is it not?” I shook my head. The pain became too much for me to handle. My strength was gone. I fell into his arms, and blacked out.
I awoke in my bedroom. My walls glistening in the sunset’s reflection and my family looming over my bed. I could smell the stench of blood on my clothes and the familiar scent of my fallen angel.
“Than goodness you are well my daughter.”
“Thank you father for caring for me in my condition.”
“I am sorry to inform you that I did not care for you but a young man about your age took my place. Such a gentleman this boy, he didn’t leave your side once.” My cheeks turned red. Could it possibly be Leo? No, how could it be him. He would have been killed if he took even glanced at my home. I couldn’t shake them smell of blood, it was one my hands and lips.
“You should thank him he gave his blood to you so you life a little longer, even if he is…”
“HE DID WHAT!!” I sprung from my bed.
“Am I interrupting?” a voice came from my door way. I glanced over to see my mother standing in the door. Her face was filled with anger and disappointment. I jumped out of the bed and knelt to the ground.
“I apologize if I worried you mother.”
“Stand up; it’s not acceptable for you to show such weakness. You are a pureblood and should act as such. Now your guests are arriving, and you will greet them.” My mother glared. Father agreed with her and left the room. I sighed and rummaged through my gowns. I found a stunning back gown with lace and the bottom, now to find shoes to match. I decided that my black stilettos would work…even though I despised them. Oh well beggars can’t be choosers. I rushed down the stairs to greet my guests. Instead I ran into Tanoak, my guard. Tanoak was born of werewolf and Werecat blood, and has been looking over me for many years. My father saved him when he was and found that he had great potential, soon after he decided to try him with my life. He took his job very seriously but at times can be… flirtatious.
“Whoa where’s the fire?” he smiled.
“I’m so sorry but I have to go and greet the guests…did you put beads I your hair?”
“…I always wore beads, it part of my heritage. I though you knew that.” I was so embarrassed. Brilliant Scarlet just brilliant, you insulted his heritage. Hurry think of something…something smart.
“Sorry I must still be a little drowsy; I’ll be going now…”
“Hey wait I need to ask you something.”
“Not now ok I’ll find you later.” I ran ballroom to greet my guests. After hour of greeting and entertaining I decided to go find Tanoak. Now finding my way out of the crowd wasn’t easy, nor was it fun especially when your mother jerks you over to the side.
    “Where is your guardian Tanoak?”
“I was on my way to find, why do need he for something?”
“He said he could smell and angel near by and ran off… be careful my child.” I nodded and ran off. Something inside me said that Leo was here and Tanoak found him. I grabbed a quick change in clothing then my sword and jump out the window into the backyard. My backyard was about three to four acres long. It wasn’t going to be easy to find them… okay it was easy than I thought, for Tanoak flew out of the gathering of trees.
    “Tanoak are you alright?”
“Lady scarlet what are you doing? Get out of here you could get hurt,” I glared at him.
“I’m not leaving; I’m just as strong as you.” I ran towards the trees, and found exactly what I was hoping for. Leo was sitting on a branch of an oak tree.
“LEO I HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU!”
“why” is it because I invaded your home, beat you guardian up, of is it because I gave you my blood?” I blushed, I tried to talk but word wouldn’t come out, “… or is it that I left you all those years ago?” he snickered. I drew my sword.
“For an angel, you’re a real a**,” I pointed the sword at him.
“That’s my job… but you have to love me for it. After all if it wasn’t for my a** attitude I wouldn’t be here.” I gave confused look, “here I’ll explain… I did something unforgivable and the elders found out. My punishment was that I was banishment and the only way to redeem myself is…”
    “…is what?”
    “Nothing it’s nothing.”
“Of course it’s something, maybe I can help you.”
“NO I WONT DO IT! I WONT COMMIT SUCH A CRIME!”
“Crime, what crime,” Leo turned away.
“I’m sorry I came here. It was a mistake,” he leaped out the tree and disappeared into the distance.
“Lady scarlet… are you alright?” I nodded. I put my sword in its sheath and returned to my room. Soon after the guest left and the house was quiet once again. I stared out my window for most of the night replaying the events that occurred tonight. Sadly I couldn’t figure out what he was hiding. I slammed my fist into the wall behind me to release some of my belt up anger. WHY WON’T HE TRUST ME? WHY CAN’T HE JUST ASK FOR HELP? Maybe…maybe I should have told him that I…I... Tears ran down my face, but I didn’t care. I wanted to see him once more, just once and I would have been happy.
“Scarlet, you should be in bed,” I turned.
“I was just admiring the moon father,” he smiled.
“Why do you have to be so formal around me? I guess it’s your mother’s fault huh?”
“No father, you’re wrong. It not her that chooses to act as such it is me that chooses to do so,” I closed my eyes, for I feared his reaction.
“What is bothering you my child?” my father always knew when something was wrong. He was always that way, which is why I feel so comfortable around him.
    “It’s nothing,” I forced a smile.
“You are lying through your teeth.” I began to explain my situation to him. He seemed ok with it. In fact he seemed giddy that his child was in love. Good thing I left out the “fallen angel” part. Father wished me luck and left my chamber. I spent the rest of the night thinking. Morning came and my training began. When a vampire reaches the eighteen years she/he inherits the family name and fortune. Then that vampire must find a partner to keep the legacy going. I detest that fact that I have to keep the family going and the fact I have to learn to sew. I hate sewing! I changed my clothes to a black tee and blue jeans, and ran downstairs.
“WHAT ARE YOU WEARING!” my mother shrieked.
“Look mom I’m old enough now that I can do what I want when I want. Oh I’m not learning to sew got it.” My mother swung her hand. That very same hand made contact with my face, “HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT YOUR MOTHER!” I cover my cheek and stared back at her. Then I stormed out the house. I could hear her yell at me demanding I stay, But I ignored her. She went to far… but I kinda had it coming.
“Scarlet what happened to your face?” Scythia asked me as she walks towards my house.
“Scythia, can I crash at your house for awhile?”
    “Sure, but what happened?”
“My mother and I didn’t see eye to eye that’s all.” She wrapped her arms around me.
“I think there is a better place for you to stay,” she grabbed my hand and directed me through the town. She stopped in front a small cabin in the woods. I could smell the forest animals and freshly burned logs.
“Why are we at Tanoak’s home?”
“He has protected you for years and he more suitable to stay with than me.” She knocked on the door, but there was no answer. This continued for a few minutes, until we finally gave up. We left the grounds.
“Your mother probably called him, and he’s looking for you.”
“I’ll watch over her for awhile,” a voice came from behind us. I growled. Leo was behind us.
“What do you care? I can take care of my self.” I declared.
“That’s why I’m here, I can to apologize. I disrespected you and caused you pain. Please believe me when I say that I am truly sorry.” I turned to look at him. I couldn’t help but cry.
“There you go crying again, now didn’t I tell you that some like shouldn’t cry but smile?” I smiled and glomped him (tackle hug). I buried my face into his chest.
“I wanted to see so badly and when you left yesterday like you did I felt I would never talk to you again. Please don’t leave me this time stay a little longer.”
“You know what that crime was that I committed?” I looked at him, “Five years ago I fell in love with a vampire. I was order to kill her to make amends with the elders, but I refused to. That vampire was only thirteen years at the time and I could tell her my true feelings…” my eyes grew. My pale face turned red. He wrapped him arm around me, “…so I waited till she was of marring age to tell her how I felt. Unfortunately she was very hard to tell being the kinda person she is. I’m afraid I hurt her badly.” He wiped tears off my cheek, and smiled. I smiled back. He kissed me gently.
“Leo I’ve loved ever since that day, and I would love you to become my partner.”
“I would love to spend eternity with you, because I too love you.”
Years have past since that day and I now live peacefully with Leo and out twins, Kate and sapphire. I thank it all to my forbidden love with a fallen angel, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
