• Chapter 1

Vayla stared at the newly hung kitchen clock. It struck one in the morning loudly as if to laugh at her insomnia. Sighing heavily, she dragged her feet towards the refrigerator, AGAIN, looked over the old milk and cartoon of eggs, AGAIN, and sadly walked away. Again. Nothing to do and nothing to eat. She had already exhausted the tv. All that was left for her to do was mope.

Ironically, she found herself in a teen situation heaven. Home alone because her mother flew to New York for a business trip. Loaded with five credit cards (luckily for her, she and her mother look eerily alike and her mother had no problems leaving her with an old ID) Oh, and did i mention she happened to be stuck in Hawaii?

It was summer vacation for Vayla but she had all the right to be depressed at one in the morning. Her mother neglectfully forgot to tell her about her Fabulous promotion that landed her with a main office in Hawaii. They had to move immediately else the spot would be given away. What was a good little daughter to do but sadly tag along.

Of course she couldn't complain about leaving her childhood friends for the LAST summer vacation of their high school years. And who was she to yell about having to change schools for her SENIOR year? No, not Vayla, the girl who got everything from her loving (yet a little scatterbrained) mother.

So this is how she found herself walking down by the golf course at one thirty in the morning sipping on iced tea wondering if she could find something remotely interesting on this small overgrown island. Thats when she heard the engines. It seemed like she encroached upon dueling lions, roaring for dominance. And it was exactly just that.

Before a second thought, she climbed through the brush near the sidewalk to hide from the group obviously having some midnight event. Well, more like "two in the morning" event, but same thing.

The road along the golf course snaked up to a slight incline with a dead end at the top. The road itself was lengthy but smooth, with enough curves to make one pay attention a little more to the road. The perfect road for say.... racing?

And that was what Vayla found. She hid behind a family of coconut trees (yep. real live coconut trees) surrounded by a few sturdy bushes for camouflage. Although her education in cars was limited between how to drive them and funny noises meant a trip to the autoshop, she could tell the five cars parked in the quaint cul-de-sac were anything but normal. If she could have made an educated guess, she would have pointed out the "hydrogaspic pipe majigers" and the "awesome neon light thingies" were pretty much fancy illegal parts that were meant to be shown off at two in the morning.

But the fancy cars and their ridiculously cool designs and parts were nothing compared to the people surrounding them. There were the normal people loitering around with drinks in hand and anticipated looks on their faces. But then there were THEM. They stood out like a golden toilet boil in a public bathroom. Too gorgeous to be even thought about being used.

One had the look of Adonis the Greek god. Not that she knew how Adonis looked like... but if he could, he would have opted to look like this guy. He had BRONZE skin. Not brown, or a little tan. It was BRONZE. He wore a regular black wife-beater (how do gorgeous people make the most natural apparel look like million dollar suits?) with a nice fitted black vest. His jeans weren't baggy as was the trend for most boys his age would wear. Instead, he wore his jeans like a man. (don't ask whats the difference... there just is) Every outline of his body showed his muscle. He constantly smiled a brilliant white set of teeth that contrasted his jet black hair. His eyes were too dark to judge the color from where she was; probably a dark intense brown. He was, in short, someone to behold and stare at for a couple of hours. He was one of THOSE people.

The other one was basically the opposite of Adonis (for now, and probably always, Vayla will think of the bronze god as Adonis). He had a paler complexion and golden hair. His aqua jet eyes pierced through you even if he was looking at you. He looked a bit more solemn in his black collared shirt and dark jeans. His clothes weren't as fitting as Adonis's but they didn't hide his wonderfully built body. He was slightly larger than Adonis with a quiet dignified air to him. Serious yet with so much dominance in his stance.

Vayla couldn't stop staring. This was the first exciting thing that had happened to her since she arrived in the boring island a week ago. Impatient to see if a race would proceed the festivities, she inched forward and tried to get a more comfortable position. When she looked up from her adjustment, she felt two pairs of eyes bore into her. One dark as night and the other ice cold. She froze, knowing she should sprint back towards her house before they sent anyone to fetch her. With all the beauty and excitement, she wasn't stupid. All her surroundings, as glamorous as it looked, was dangerous. And illegal.

Her mind raced as she realized the two godlike creatures were slowly but surely walking towards her hiding spot. She could run, but how far would her legs take her with two healthy GODS on her tail? If not them, the pumped up cars wouldn't even break a sweat. So she did what any panicked girl would do when getting caught. Sat still and hoped they were just going to take a piss in the brush. Together. With curious looks on their faces.

    Crap.
