Also, although similar, this DOES NOT follow the story line on Gaia.

Sarah Leigh Mae Rose Johnson was a typical 15 year old girl from Gaia. She lived with her mother and father in their home in Barton, Gaia. She was sort, standing only 5 foot 3 inches tall. Her hair was always changing to go with her mood. Today it was long, brown with golden highlights, pulled in two buns on the side with a few strains of hair not tied up. She was wearing a plan light wool top underneath a pink tee shirt, plan blue jeans and sneakers. She was packing her bag to get ready for her first year at Gaian School of Magic.

She went down her list that she wrote in her pink, fuzzy note book with matching pen, when there was a knock on her door.

She walked over to the door and answered it, “Mum, I’m surprised you are here,” she said with shock in her voice and on her face.

Her mother smiled, “I am just here to see how you are doing.”

She moved so her mother could enter the room, “I was just going over my list to make sure I had everything.”

Her mother smiled and put her hand on her daughter’s cheek, which caused her to tense up.

“Sarah, what is it?” her mother asked with deep concern.

Leigh backed away, “What are you up too?” she said with bitterness.

“Sarah, although your father and I don’t show it, we do love you and we care a great deal.”

She now looked annoyed, “Come off it. Father locks himself in his office day in and day out making trades with other Gaian stores and you have you hands in every single charity, so I go on being ignored. You only care now because you got this letter and saying I’ve been accepted to this school and I will be gone most of the year.”

“I am sorry we haven’t been there for you for a while now Sarah, but we do care about you and we want you to know that we love you and wish you luck at your school.”

Leigh didn’t want to believe her, but could tell her mother was telling the truth. She put on a smile and said, “Alright. I believe you.”

Her mother smiled, “Good. Would you like to join your father and me for dinner? I made him promise to be there and turn off his cell phone and pager.”

    “What time?”

“In an hour. We will take you wherever you want to go,” he mother smiled.

Leigh returned the smile, “Alright. That gives me enough time to finish. Now, will I have to find my own ride to the airport or can you give me one?”
Kay smiled, “We’ve cleared our schedules so we can take you out. It is tomorrow morning, correct?”

“Yes. I have to be there by 8am so I can be on the plain by 10. No later.”

“Alright, we will be there,” then Kay left.

Leigh sighed, “Just in case I better make arrangements with my aunt,” then she walked over to her pink cordless phone and called her aunt.

An hour later, her father knocked on her door, just as she zipped up her last bag.

She walked over and smiled when she saw him. She hugged him around the middle, “PAPA!” she cried.

“Oh my little Sarah...I am so sorry I haven’t been around lately.”

She cried into his chest, “Oh silly papa, working too much.”

“That’s no excuses to miss out on my baby girl growing up,” he said as he picked her up.

“I know papa, but I am not mad.”

He laughed, “That’s not what your mother said.”

She held onto him, “Okay, I was, but after seeing you, I can’t be mad anymore. I love you so much!”

He held her tight to him, “I love you too Sarah.”

“Papa, please don’t call me Sarah that makes me sound old. Call me Leigh Mae.”

“Alright right Leigh Mae,” he said as he kissed the top of her head.

After dinner, Leigh fell asleep in the car. However Downtain was able to lift her in his arms and put her to bed, making sure her alarm was set, kissed the top of her head and left to join his wife in bed.

After he went though his runitine of a shower, brushing his teeth, and putting on a pajama set, he climbed into bed beside of Kay and said, “Where’d we go wrong?”

Kay rolled over and sat up. She looked at her husband and sighed, “I don’t know Don, we just did...I guess.”

“Well, starting tomorrow I want to be there for Leigh. I want to let her know that no matter what she can always come home and we will always be there for her. Kay, our little girl isn’t little anymore and we need to let her know that we love her and will always be there for her.”

Kay kissed her husband on the cheek, “Then I think we need to go to bed so we can be there for her.”

He smiled and returned the kiss on her lips, “Agreed. Goodnight dear.”

“Night,” and they went to bed.

When morning came, Leigh got up and went to take a shower before dressing and double checking her stuff real quick before going downstairs for breakfast. When she arrived there she was shocked to say the least, her father was sitting at the table reading some information on her school and her mother was cooking their breakfast.

“Okay, I stepped into a parallel universe. Mum, I haven’t seen you cook in ages.”

“This is a special day Leigh, we want to make the most out of it while we can,” her mother smiled.

She smiled back. Then her father spoke up, “I didn’t know you could use magic in our world.”

Leigh smiled at him too, “Yes papa, unlike other worlds, the magic world works along side of the mortal world. They found it was easier to work with mortals than separate.”

“This is interesting. I could expand...” but he wasn’t able to finish what he wanted to say because Kay hit him in the head.

“You said you wanted to be there for Leigh more last night. No talks or thoughts about expanding anything expect you love for our daughter, understood?”

    He sighed, “Yes ma’am.”

“Good, now, here’s your breakfast,” she said as she handed him his plate.

    “Thank you,” he replied.

“Alright. Now Leigh, yours is almost...Leigh, what are you doing?”

“Texting Aunt Mary and letting her know she doesn’t need to pick me up,” Leigh replied.

“You asked your aunt to take you to the airport?” Don asked.

“Yes...well what do you expect papa? You and mum was wrapped up in your own lives, I wasn’t sure if you would actually take me or not, so to be safe, I called Aunt Mary last night and asked her if she could take me just in case.”

Don looked hurt, but understand. He got up and hugged Leigh, “I’m sorry that I have been such a lousy father.”

“Not lousy, just busy,” Leigh replied as she wrapped her arms around him as far as they could go.

After breakfast was done, Don packed the car with Leigh’s bags and had her make sure it was all of them before they drove off. An hour and a half later they where at the airport and once everything was taken care of, Don and Kay stood there looking at their daughter. Leigh smiled, she was glad she finally had her family back. She gave them each a hug and a kiss and after a chours of, ‘I love you’s’ Leigh bored the plan with her carry on bag.

It took her a minute to find her seat and once she did she noticed it was beside a blue-hair boy with bright brown eyes, “Hello,” she said with a smile.

He turned and looked at her and smiled back. He removed her headphones and put down his hand held game system and said, “Hello, my name is Artea. What’s yours?”

She took her seat and held her hand out, “Mine Sarah, but I like for my friends- to call me Leigh Mae or just Leigh would be fine.”

He shook her hand and said, “It’s nice to meet you Leigh.”

“It’s nice to meet you to Artea.”
