• Maureen and Daniel had been married for fifty years and Daniel had not been in good health lately. When Maureen's brother died, they both agreed that Maureen should go alone. Daniel hadn't been very close to her brother anyway. All the way through the plane ride, Maureen felt bad about leaving him. Something didn't feel right. She went to the funeral and still felt uncomfortable all the way through it. When she was in her hotel room later that night, she sat on the edge of her bed. She felt so weird not being with Daniel. Then she heard a noise. She kept her head down, staring at her feet. Then someone knelt down in front of her. It was Daniel. He held her hands and whispered to her, "I love you." Then he got up and walked through the door. When Maureen arrived home the next day, the woman who had been taking care of Daniel said, "I think you need to sit down Mrs. Roland." She got a pained expression on her face and said, "Last night, Daniel passed on." Maureen's eyes grew sad, but she did not cry. It was too painful. "But last night, just before he passed," continued the woman. "He whispered I love you."
