• I left the school with a one-track mind. My hands were shaking as I walked quickly down the streets to the closest grocery store, praying they had Advil. My head had been throbbing with pain all day, and I really missed the numb high. I was suspicious of every empty face I came across down the street, and my hands were jammed in my pockets, clutching onto my twenty dollar bill so hard my knuckles were going white. I finally reached the market, and I walked into the doors with ambition. A few eyes were on me, just as suspicious as I was. The city is a paranoid place.
I zig zag through every little aisle, searching for my guilty pleasure, the Advil. Finally, I found the painkiller section, and I was in heaven… they even had Extra Strength. Even though I would have to start taking only five pills (or at least until I could figure out how many I could take without puking) I knew these would be worth it. I also eyed a few boxes of Trojan condoms.
“You can never have enough skins…” I said out loud, grabbing a box.
I had three bottles of Advil in one hand, and one big box of Trojan condoms in the other hand when I went over to the check-out aisle. I was placed right in front of a big fat lady, with enough food to feed two families. I bet she’s going to eat it all herself. I snickered at my own thought. Finally, fat lady had paid for her whole hoard of food. I put my items on the belt, and the punk-teenager check-out girl gave me an eyebrow raise. I just gave her a seductive smile, and then wiggled my tongue. I heard a few gasps behind me, but I had done what I had meant to do: I made the angry teenager laugh. My eyes wondered as she tried to find the price tag on the Advil, and they landed on someone across the room. It wasn’t even a second after I had laid eyes on him that I slipped into madness.
