• “ Buzzzzzzzz! “The bell alarming fourth period sounded. Lunch.
I gathered my pencils, picked up my binder and "Life Science" textbook, and ran to the cafeteria.

My name is Marisol Lopez. I’m the new student here at Pemberton High School. I’m in 11th grade-the worst year to be new in because everyone else knows each other. So far, I have been here for 2 weeks and I already hate it here.

I sat at my normal table-the one all the way in the back of the room, where no one will see me, but I could see everyone else.
I opened and stood my textbook on the table, not really reading the words but the faces around me. There were cheerleaders and sports players-probably the “popular kids”, the smart kids, the troublemakers, and the normal looking guys table right in front of me.

One of the normal looking boys was chuckling and then stopped when he notice I was staring at him. His beautiful eyes sparkled and his smooth lips curved into a smile. My face burned hot. I quickly ducked my head behind my book, wondering if he was smiling at me.

After I was finished eating I stood my textbook up again, looking for the boy.

“Hello beautiful,” someone whispered in my ear.

I jumped. Was I really so unfocused that I didn’t notice someone walk up and sit next to me?

I flushed. “Umm… hi,” I spat out, still looking at the textbook.

    “You’re Marisol right?”

My heart started pounding against my chest. “Yes, why?”

“Well… I’ve seen you in almost all my classes. Oh sorry! My name is Bryan,” he took my hand and kissed it, “nice to meet you.” He tilted his head. “You know it’s not polite to not look at someone when they are talking to you.”

“Oh sorry,” I flushed and timidly turned my head to look at his face.
Bryan was skinny, but muscular. His hair was jet black and past his ears. His eyes were turquoise but a little bit brighter. I easily got lost in them.

    Talk now please.

A voice in my head? That never happened before.

Then I just realized he was the guy I was staring at.

“Oh umm…. Did I bother you by staring?”

“Not really. I was kind of flattered.” He snickered as he flipped some of his hair out of his eye.

“Oh… well yea...” I blushed again. Ugh. I can’t say anything cool!

"Anyway... Let's learn a little bit more about you," He started, "whats you're favorite color?"

    "Turquoise... I mean! Blue!"

"Seems you noticed my eyes..." He smiled shyly.

How about my lips? The same voice said quietly in my head.

"Your lips are... amazing," I said out loud.

"Really? Thanks!" This time we both blushed.

The bell rang... really bad timing! We both went off to our next class.
