• As Talon, a small brown haired boy, grew up in a small village, it never snowed. According to his parents, it hadn't snowed since the day that the war between the village and another village close by started. Talon had lost his father to it when he was only five years old. His older brother, Kyle, became Talon's father figure. Thought Kyle was mature, Talon never truly thought of him as his father at all.
Talon grew up on a small farm near the center of the village and had tons of social interaction with traders and new people moving in nearby. His school, luckily, was just down the road. His mother and brother never worried much about him getting caught in the middle of a battle with no way home.
Talon loved walking to school because he could talk to his best friend Colin. Colin had dark hair and strange arctic blue eyes. He always knew Talon better than Talon knew himself. Kyle thought that Colin was a suspicious character. He always objected when Colin came over to play. Talon wouldn't listen though. No way would he give up his best friend just because his older brother thought of him as dangerous.
Then, everything became worse. On April 21st, Colin was caught in the middle of a huge fight. It had broke out earlier that morning. Colin's mother had told him to stay home, but he wanted to see Talon. He ran off and was shot.
Later in the day, on the news, word of this was distributed. Talon was crushed completely. His feeling abandoned him at that moment, leaving nothing but cold apathy. Kyle was relieved when he heard the news. He thought that sort of thing should have happened years ago. It ended Talon's relationship with his older brother and tore them apart. Slowly they came back together, but it was so slow that no one had noticed. Talon still felt bitter and Kyle still wouldn't talk to Talon. It was a horrible silence that their mother felt as a growing pain in her poor, sweet heart. Would they ever stop? She thought.
Then, when Talon was eleven, Kyle moved away. He said that he couldn't stand the place any longer. He obviously felt terrible about the incident with Colin years ago. He couldn't stand himself. Talon begged him to stay, saying that if he did he would be kind. He told Kyle that he loved him more than anything in the world, but his mind was made up. It was torture for both Talon and his mother. Kyle, the loving older brother was gone.
And so, only a few years later, Talon is learning about where his brother has gone. He never stops. He wants to find his caring brother, whatever it takes, before it's too late.
