• The city of Leyawiin was quiet, nobody walked the streets. Not a thing disturbed the silence save the occasional alley cat running in between the buildings. No signs of life could be seen, for the village had recently been plagued by a mysterious disease. All of the inhabitants of the village were either dead or dying, and the dead seemed strangely alive, they could look as if they were dead, but then they would open their eyes and ask for water. Wells were dry, the crops were withering, and animals had long since fled. A lone inn sat on the outskirts of the town, once a haven for travelers and traders of all types, now a desolate building that was falling apart. Inside cobwebs covered the walls, dust covered the tables; the only thing inside were two figures. One was a male, with a dark black cloak and blueish hair, his face was pale, almost like a marble statue, and his eyes shone an amber brown. The other was female, she wore a long cloak with a black rogue's suit underneath, her hair was a dark brown, black-colored in the light. Her eyes and facial features were the same as her companion. Both were vampires. They sat at one of the tables, one was on a chair with one too small leg, and he was busily reading a book on his lap, rocking back and forth in his chair. The other was staring at the wall, her hands holding an old puzzle, she was absent-mindfully solving it over and over, tuning it this way and that. Her brown eyes were abstract, unresponsive. She glanced over at her companion, setting the puzzle down on the table. "Your turn, cousin." she said, pushing it towards him. Glancing up from his book, and looking at the puzzle, he closed the book and set it next to the puzzle, picking up the latter. Looking at his cousin, he began to solve it just like she had. After turning it to the left, he solved it all to one color, then turned it right, checkering it. She watched, following his exact pattern carefully. Finally he set it down and said, "Solve it." Smiling slyly, she picked it up and did his entire pattern backwards, solving it in seconds. Laughing, she did a different pattern, making it more complicated than before. "This one should be hard, Tony." she said, not looking up from her work. He sighed, and watched closely, following her perfectly. "I don't think so, Sam." he said, taking it from her before she could finish. "You just did a circle." He twisted one of the parts, and switched it back and forth, solving it instantly. "Now, let me get back to my book." Sam sighed, "Fine, you're no fun anymore. By the way, bookworm, why are we still here? It's well after nightfall." Tony opened his book again, "We're waiting for someone, I think. She's supposed to have an offer for us." Not a second after he finished that sentence, then the door swung open with enough force to leave a dent in the wall. Looking up from their table, the vampires stared at a young figure standing just inside of the building. A long blue cloak hid its face and hair. It held a blue leather-bound book under one arm. Striding up to them, it spoke in a small voice, "Are you the vampires I was supposed to meet?" Tony jumped at the sound, and moved his chair further away from it. Sam looked up at the newcomer, "Who are you?" she asked cautiously. Removing the cloak's hood, revealing a rosy-cheeked girl of roughly seventeen, with deep brown hair, light green eyes, and small, close set lips. She looked fatigued, and spoke with a weariness that only comes from days of travel with little sleep. " I am Robyn, daughter of Shion." she said with a slight bow. Sam smiled cheerily, "I'm Sam, daughter of Hansen, and this is my cousin, Tony, son of Dracula." Tony grunted, and moved further away, his eyes more black than brown now. Robyn nodded, "Pleased to meet you. Are you the ones I was supposed to meet?"
"Yes, I think so." said Sam, looking at her cousin. "Sorry about him, he's nervous around strangers." Tony hissed very lightly, so only Sam could hear him, "Am not, I just don't trust her." Robyn shrugged, "It's okay, he should get used to me quick." Pulling a map out of one of the pockets in her cloak, Robyn laid it on the table. It was a map of Sol, Solesthiem, and Volar. Trasil lay in the east, but only vampires have ever recorded it on maps. "We are here." Said Robyn, pointing at a small dot on the map, labeled "Leyawiin" "I need to get here." she pointed at a spot near Solesthiem, labeled "Mother's home". "We need to avoid the cities if we can," she continued, "because the creator of the disease that's taking over Sol, Isaac, has minions in the people that die from it." She pointed at the largest spot on the map, "Chorrol", "this is where Isaac holds power, and he'll stop at nothing to be king." Tony was watching from the exact opposite side of the table from Robyn. "So, you want us to get you to your mothers house in Swampmarsh, the most dangerous place, save Solesthiem, on the map? What's in it for us?" Sam elbowed him in the ribs, "Shut up, Tony." she said telepathically. "We don't need anything, we'll take you because we want to help." She said out loud, looking at Robyn. She smiled, "thank you." she said, glancing at Tony. He looked back, his eyes almost black, "Yeah, what she said." he muttered, looking away. Robyn edged slightly closer to the vampire, and he flinched away with a small hiss. Confused, Robyn stayed where she was, staring at him curiously. Eyes darting to her often, Tony leaned forward and said, "We should go to Bravil first, in order to resupply for the human, and to grab a snack ourselves." Sam eyed him skeptically, "Tony, you do remember we don't drink human blood?" Tony shrugged, sitting back in his chair again, "yes, but sometimes it's a good change of pace." Robyn felt the color leave her face a second time, these vampires were either psychotic, or this was how they always acted. "The boy seems to be avoiding me, what's wrong with me?" she sniffed her hair, seeing if it had any putrid smell. Nothing, with a sigh, she let it fall back behind her neck. Tony was slowly edging away, unheard, but seen when he shifted uncomfortably.
