• CHAPTER 4:CHI'S DESPAIR

Chi and I walked into the hospital, each holding a lily. I asked the nurse what room Mamoru Fujishima was in, she just told me to go to room number 205. I nodded and led the way up to the room. We had to take the elevator because there were about five floors. Chi wasn't being her usual cheery self. I was starting to get worried. "Chi-chan, it wasn't your fault. So don't blame yourself," I told her. Chi didn't answer me. I sighed, "well we're here." It was awfully quiet when we entered the small blueish room. Mamoru must have been asleep. "Hey Mamoru, you awake," I asked him. His eyes opened slowly. "Hey Chi. Hey Kyuu," he replied softly. Mamoru looked over at Chi. "Chi, I'm okay really. They said that I should be out in about two or three days," he said reassuringly. Chi nodded, and put the lily in the small vase next to his bed. "I know, but I shouldn't have hurt you like that," Chi replied. Mamoru smiled. "Don't blame yourself," Mamoru said firmly. Mamoru suddenly passed out. I could see tears begin to roll down Chi's face. She quickly bolted out the door. I quickly put my lily in the vase, and ran after her. She was already gone by the time I got out of the hospital. "Chi!Chi," I called. There was no answer.

    ~Chi's P.O.V. (point of view)~

Tears ran down my pale face, I tried to wipe them away but they just kept coming. "You shouldn't have hurt him you wretched demon," I shouted to the large white furred wolf in my subconscious. It just smirked and scoffed. "You're lucky I didn't kill him brat," It barked. I gritted my teeth. "First off I'm no brat," I snapped back. "Heh, and here I am sitting in a sealed cage, laughing at your pitiful attempts to try and control me," The large demon growled. We glared at each other for a minute. "You know what, I'm leaving," I shouted angrily. It laughed with a large grin plastered on it's demonic face. I found myself still running, I was farther away from konoha than I wanted to be. In fact, I didn't even recognize the land scape. It must have been the mountains a ways off from konoha. But as I came to a stop, I realized that it was getting darker. I started to get scared of the darkness. "The darkness closes in on one's soul," I thought remembering a the poem that Kyuu-chan had recited last year. But I ran back in the direction I came, remembering the quote my favorite song, Your Guardian Angel.
-Even if saving you sends me to heaven-
After about an hour, I recognized the terrain.

    ~Kyuu's P.O.V.~

"Chi," I shouted. "Will you just shut-up already it's pointless," Haru scoffed. I ignored her and still called out, " CHI!" Kuro-sensei had gone out to look for Chi-chan. But, I was still worried. "What if she'd gotten hurt," all of the what if's had been going through my head. I was really worried for my best friend. Haru just sat there like she didn't even care, it was really making me angry. I sighed and sat down.

    ~Chi's P.O.V.~

I was cut up and tired, I had been running for hours. I sat up quickly as I heard the snapping of twigs. Someone had bolted past me just now. I noticed the red hair, it was sensei! I shouted, "Kuro-sensei!!!!!" He stopped dead in his tracks and turned around to face me. "Chi come on back with me," he said calmly. I nodded and walked over to him. We disappeared in a puff of smoke. In an instant we were back in a grove where my team was. I stood there quietly not wanting to be noticed. "Chi-chan," I heard Kyuu yell as she ran up to give me a hug. I noticed she was crying. I sighed and stood there. "Well, we should head back to konoha," Kuro-sensei said exhausted. "How's Mamoru now," I whispered. "Chi-chan, he's fine maybe a little bruised up, but he's fine," Kyuu replied. I nodded, wiping the remaining tears from my face. "We should get going," I said aloud. My team all nodded in agreement. I sighed and took off for konoha, my team followed close behind. We reached konoha in a matter of hours. The second I stepped foot in the village, I was glomped by someone. I realized that it was Mamoru, I blushed. "Uh...., Mamoru," I asked. He replied with the cutest confused face, "Yeah?" "I can't breathe," I said. He let go waving his hands frantically, "Sorry, Chi-cha.... I mean Chi." I was surprised, he hadn't tried to call me that since our mission. "It's okay, Mamo-kun," I replied without thinking. His face turned bright red, and he looked down at his feet. Everyone including me was in shock. "Did I just call him Mamo-kun," I thought to myself. "Sorry, what I meant was uh.....," I said nervously. "It's okay Chi," he replied. I got up and brushed myself off. Haru glared at me, I guess she was mad about the whole, "Mamo-kun thing." She must have a crush on him or something. I made a face at her and she looked away. "Well this is an interesting way to build teamwork. I guess nicknames create bonds," Kuro said, "I want you all to come up with nicknames for each other. You don't have to us suffixes if you don't want. But this will help you become close friends." I stared at Mamoru for a second, "Nicknames, yeah maybe that was the right way," I thought as a small smile came across my face.
