• Chapter one

"The sunset is so pretty, mommy." "Yes, yes it is." The sunset was a fading orange that slowly turned to pink. "Mommy, look. I see lots of pretty flowers!" I ran to the patch of all the wild flowers that were painted pink and red and yellow. I started to pick them. I had a handful of flowers by the time mommy came to the patch. "Don't run off. You could have gotten hurt running into the middle of the road without even looking." "Sorry mommy." She didn't yell at me, she was only talking to me like she would any other time, but it still sounded harsh to me. Mommy never ever yelled at anyone, she never cried-even if things were really bad, and it was like she never got mad at anyone. "It's ok now lets go back home now, it's almost your bedtime." "Awwwww, mommy, do I have to go to bed so soon?" "Yes." When she said that it sounded like she almost yelled. "Ok." Was all I said and then we started to walk back to where we were first looking at the sunset. Before we crossed the road mommy stopped me and then looked both ways to make sure that there were no cars or trucks coming. I remembered that I had left my bunny stuffy by the bridge when mommy and I were looking at the sunset. I looked at the place we had been and saw that my bunny was about to go off the bridge. I let go of mommys hand and ran out into the road. I was right in the middle of the road when I heard a sound, a sound that I would remember for the rest of my life. I looked to my left and saw that a truck was coming. I couldn't move out of the was because I was so scared. But somehow my life was saved. I sat up from where I was and looked at the road. That was when I saw the reson I was saved. Mommy had ran and pushed me out of the way but could not get out of the way hersleff. I got up and ran to where my mommy was now laying, dead. "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" I kept screeming. The tears went down my cheeks and onto my dead mother. I may be young-very young-but I know when someone is dead. I looked around for help. Maybe the truck driver stoped to help me out? No. He had just kept on going. He had left me and my mother out here with no help-even though he had nearly killed me but ended up killing mommy. The tears kept on coming and I knew they were never going to end. I kept crying there untill I cried myslef to sleep, leaving all that happened behide me as I slowly driffed off to sleep.
I woke up and looked around wondering why I was outside. I looked down and saw my mommy lieing there. She was covered in blood and so was I. Then I remembered everything that had happened the night before. I started to cry again. I had wished that it all was just a bad dream, but it really had happened. I looked around and saw a little girl and her mommy coming. It reminded me so much of mommy and me that I began to cry even harder. The mom say me crying and ran over to me with her kid. The little girl had long blond hair just like me and green eyes just like me. The mom looked at me and then looked down and saw that my mom was on the ground, dead. "What happened?" She asked as she sat down beside me. I just looked at her and said nothing. I finely stoped crying a bit and was able to tell her everything that had happened yesterday. "Come, ill get you cleaned up. But first I'm going to call the cops and then they will take your mom. Ok?" I looked down at mommy for what was probely going to be the last time. Even with her pale white face she looked at piece. I looked up at the mom and all I did was nod my head yes, because I couldn't get my mouth to move and words to come out. She picked me up and said, "I'm Miss.Rose, Sarah Rose. This is my daughter, Abby." I looked up at Miss.Rose and started to cry. That had been my moms name. "Whats the matter?" She asked. I just shook my head and stoped crying. "Whats your name sweety?" "My name." I started. I looked down at my hands and said, "My name is Miss.Alicen Diana Ronels."
