• What Happened?

What’s going on? Where am I? I look around, though there’s not much to see except a streak of dim light. It feels a bit airy and something is covering my body. I then realized that I am lying down. I try to move my legs. They wouldn’t budge. Move, damn you! Slowly I regain feeling and my legs began to obey me. I pulled them up and went to reach up to grab my legs. Darkness swept over me. Too much for now. I let the darkness overtake me and slept.

When I regain consciousness, there’s this bright light behind my eye lids. I squeeze them shut. What the hell! Slowly I open my eyes and look around me. I’m in a vast room with tall windows and long drapes. Though it’s dark outside, there is a chandelier shining above me. The bed I’m lying in is red silk. The pillow so soft; they must be goose down. I turn my head to the left and there’s a strong pain in my neck. I reach up to touch it. Ow! Dammit! My muscles were sore and hurt to move and to breathe too deep.

“I wouldn’t move your body if I were you.” A strange voice came from beside me. I slowly turned my head to the right and a gasp escapes my lips. The figure standing beside me was drop dead gorgeous. He was beautiful.
He had soft black hair that was short on the sides and a fluff on top. There was a bit of a curl to the ends. Something I would love to ruffle my fingers in. His eyes were a fabulous turquoise…wait…they just changed to a beautiful emerald green. His skin was as pale as snow. His bone structure on his face was sharp, but not in a scary way. His lashes were long and framed his eyes amazingly. He looked about eighteen and was smoking hot. God! He’s unreal!

“Why thank you Salena,” the man said as a smirk spread across his face, “but I’m very real.” Blood drained from my face. Fear rose up in my heart. I strain to breath but it hurt so badly. I opened my mouth to scream but nothing came out. Not even a gurgle. The man covered my mouth.

“That’s not very polite, after all the hospitality I’ve given. Poor little thing, being bitten, raped, and then thrown into the dumpster after what looks as a serious beating. If I hadn’t come around when I did you would be dead.” I stare at him blankly. “You don’t remember do you? Here…” He reaches out to touch my hand and I recoiled. “You have the right to fear me my dear, but I will not hurt you.” He reaches for my hand again. I feel his cold touch and then suddenly I’m looking upon myself in my car.

I’m driving in the rain on the way home from a party after our basketball game. We had won 102-53, our best game ever. I had scored 61 of those points. I was still giddy from the game and the win. We were going to state next week, in Columbia. My car sputters and jerks. Oh God. Not now please. The rain is pouring hard and I am least 2 miles from the closest gas station. I guess that’s what I get for living out in the country. I check my phone. Of course, all that texting I do and calling people after the game had left my phone uselessly dead. Well, I’m not too excited of running in the rain, but I’m always up for a good run. I lent my jacket to my friend so I just climbed out of the car in nothing but my jeans and t-shirt. The jeans were hard enough to run in but when they got wet, well, it was hard. My hair, t-shirt, and jeans were affixed to my skin. I was getting close enough to hit street lights and buildings. No one was out of course except me. There’s this quick movement that I see out of the corner of my eye. I slow a bit then I see a man walk out of the alley.

“Hello gorgeous. Want to have some fun?” He holds out his hand.

I laugh at him, “That was not a smart move man. Talking to a girl who is obviously trying to get somewhere and you stop her asking if she wants to have some dirty fun? Go away.” I start jogging again then I hear footsteps coming after me. Idiot, no one can catch me. I pick up my pace and I hear his footsteps fall silent as I put distance between us. I took a look behind me and didn’t see him anywhere. Oh well. I turn around and nearly slam into the man. ”What the…”

Before I could scream he had his hand over my mouth and dragging me into the alley kicking and screaming. His grip is hard as iron. I can’t struggle free. He lets go of my hand and I take the advantage and punch him square in the nose and I hear the bones in my hand crack. I scream in pain.

“That was not a smart move love.” Then I feel his lips against my neck. I’m breathing hard trying not to show fear. “Mmm. You can’t hide your fear love. I can smell it on you. Your blood smells so rich, so healthy.” Then I feel something pierce my skin. Pain shoots through my body like millions of needles. I scream into his hand crying now. “Shh. I promise not to hurt you too bad.” He lays my body on the ground and I lay motionless, my body in pain, trying to tune it out. Then I see what he’s doing. He starts removing my clothes.

    “Please, don’t.” I croak.

“You may beg all you like, but I will not stop.” With that he loosens his belt and undoes his pants. He pulls it out and suddenly I’m screaming at the top of my lungs. He goes in harder and harder. I see his fist come at my face but I don’t feel the hit. It shuts me up and I close my eyes tighter. I imagine myself somewhere nice. I’m back on the court but the man invades my thoughts and brings me back. I am forced to watch as he…

I’m back in the room crying and screaming moving away from the man though my body is shrieking in pain. I fall out of the bed on the opposite side. I’m stunned by the pain but I force myself to get up. I have a blue silk nightgown on. I look through my tears and see an open door. I run to it and slam the door behind me and lock it. I have locked myself in the bathroom. I don’t allow myself to think. I slide to the floor in front of the door and just sob. I fell asleep on the floor. When I awoke I was curled into a ball. I hear a tap on the door.

“Selena? Please my dear, open the door. I can help you. You need to get fluids in you. I know you thirst.” I lay there quietly not saying a word. “Selena, I can break through this door with no problem, but I choose not to use violence. I shall leave some clothes and a meal on the bed. You may come out when you please. I am leaving you now.” I hear footsteps and the close of a door. I slowly get up. My body is cramped from being scrunched up.

I stretch my aching muscles. I stand slowly and unlock the door. I open it a crack and look out into the room. He’s not there. I see a tray on the bed with a bottle, a glass, and breakfast foods. Eggs, bacon, toast. There is also a bud vase with a single blue rose in it.

I walk slowly over to the bed. A blue dress with a wonderfully beautiful design lay upon the bed. It looks like one of those old medieval dresses a princess would wear. The back was very low cut. I look at the door again just to check. I look at the silk nightgown. It was floor length and long sleeved. I hate long sleeves. It had the same design as the dress. I look closer and see that it is moons with tiny tribal like designs around each one. I pull my arms in from the sleeves and remove the gown from my body. I look upon my naked body. I look a mess. I see why I had such a long gown on. I was bruised from head to toe. Hand prints and black bruises everywhere. I shudder and begin to cry again. I sink to the floor. I hear a tap upon the door.

“Salena, dear, eat and drink, the marks will heal soon.” Without even dressing I walk over and lock the door. “There is no need for that dear, but if it makes you feel safe you are welcome to. I would not have entered upon you.” I huff at that. Sure.

I walk over to the tray and open the bottle and sniff. Eww! What is that?!? Smells like…

“Blood, yes, Selena. That is what it is. The man who hurt you was a vampire. You have been asleep for a few weeks. That is why you haven’t healed properly, because I could not get it into you.”

    Blood…I’m no vampire.

“If you don’t believe me there is a mirror in the side table.” My hand shakes as I reach into the drawer and pull out the mirror. I hold it up to my face slowly. No…It can’t be. I throw the mirror against the wall. There was nothing there! I open my mouth to yell but only a dry rasp escapes. My mind is racing then everything goes gets blurry and I feel my body hit the floor.

I watch in a daze as the man comes in notices my nakedness but focuses on my face. He walks up to me and lifts me off the ground, pulls back the sheets and lays me in the bed, and then covers me again. “I know this is hard for you to except.” He says tears begin to stream down my face. “You must drink the blood darling. You will die if you don’t.”

I don’t know how but I manage to get say, “I’d rather die than be some blood sucker like you.”

“Such violent words from one of such good nature.” He brushes the hair out of my face and I flinch. “I’m not going to hurt you my dear. I am not like the monster that has changed you.”

“How am I to believe you? You pull me out of the dumpster to this place, changed my clothes and who knows what else you may have done to me while I was asleep.” I say my voice getting stronger.

“I could have done and could still do worse than what that man did. I shall not though because I’m not a terrible “blood sucker” as you called me. Would you like to see how I found you? How well I have taken care of you? How much you HAVE healed since I brought you here?” His voice held tension and restraint.

My words escaped me. I didn’t want to see what I looked like before now. I felt embarrassment and turned my face away from him. He reached out and turned me back to him with such a loving and light touch. I looked into his eyes, those changing eyes, and saw compassion. I could feel those eyes reading my thoughts and looking into my soul and all my memories.

“Stay out of my head!” I yelled at him. I saw the compassion leave his eyes and pain replaced it. I felt the touch of his mind leave mine.

“I’m sorry.” He said in such a low voice that I barely caught it.

    “Please, leave me alone.”

“As you wish dear.” And he left.

I removed the sheets and took the bottle in my hands. They shook and I poured the think fluid into the glass. My stomach gurgled and my gums itched. I reached up and felt the two fangs that had taken their places in my mouth. I lifted the glass to my lips, pinched my nose, and took a sip.

Something clicked in my head. I wanted more. I needed more. I quickly downed what was in the glass and lifted the bottle to my mouth and steadily drank the blood. I gulped it until it was gone. The need had been satisfied but my stomach still grumbled. I looked at the food and grabbed the fork. I ate quickly and wiped my mouth on my arm. I looked at my arm. The bruises were fading. Already they were a pale yellow. I watched as they slowly, each one, began to disappear. My body was healing itself. Cool! I looked at the dress. It had fallen to the floor. I picked it up and slipped it over my head. I wish I could see how it looks on me.

I looked over at the drawers. Maybe there are some panties in there. I walked across the room feeling much stronger than before. I pulled the drawer and it came out completely and the contents spread the floor. Oops!

I heard the man chuckle outside my door. I put it back in and picked up all the contents. They consisted of them corset looking things that women wore under their dresses to make them look unnaturally skinny, various kinds of panties, and bras. I can’t possible tighten that by myself, looking at the corset thing. And he is NOT helping me. I ignore the “hmph” outside the door and grab a delicate lacey thong and put it on. I pull of the dress and grab the matching bra and put it on. I look at my pale skin. It looks just like that guys, pale as snow. I replace the dress and sit on the bed.

“I know you are outside the door. You may come in now.” I watch the door know slowly turn and that gorgeous man walks in.
