• Part 5

"How was school?" My dad was sitting on one of the recliner chairs, reading the newspaper and drinking his usual steamed blood.
"Fine,..." I mumbled out the words, I didn't feel like telling him that I tried to convince my best friend that my family consisted of cold-blooded killers, including me. "Good!-", he paused before finishing his sentence and took a last swig from his blood. He sighed and spoke casually while looking at his newspaper, "Oh, and we are postponing our hunt tomorrow." He slowly rooled his eyes to look at my reaction. I gasped and smacked my forhead.
"What?! I can't believe this! Why?!" I shoved the questions at him and he rolled his eyes at me, but looked away.
"Your mother is feeling, ill, and we want to, talk about some things." His voice wasn't that strong. Was he worried about something? "Like what?" I raised an eyebrow. He sighed, his head still turned. "Nothing,.." This time I rolled my eyes and walked away to the stairs. Groaning as I did so, I remembered that I'd told Shelby I wouldn't be at school tomorrow,...
When I reached the courts of my room, I ran to my bed and jumped on it. I groaned thinking about what I'd be missing tonight, well, Who I'd be missing tonight. My other friends would be there, my vampiric friends. Garth and Chase. As I thought about them I began to laugh, and thinking about my first day of hunting. But then, those thoughts only lasted for a while until I started to dream..
    - DREAM -
I was screaming, throwing myself onto the floor. My body was aching, the pain felt like knives slicing at my veins, fire flamed around me. I was morphing.
Then I was running through a forest. Panicking, I hid behind a tree. A low snarl made me scream as I turned to look into the eyes of a creature, a vampire. Another scream escaped my lips as it attacked me. Fanges seizing the exposure of my neck, penetrating it. No blood trickled or oozed, but my teeth tingeled and grew, sharpening while growing. My body began to feel cold and weak, yet some warmth still lingered in my bones. Grinning now, I shoved back the vampire and let out a growl, cocking my head to the side while watching him stumble. Cackling, I now attacked him, and drank from him feeling ever so powerful.
    - End Of Dream -
My body thrust itself upwards as I sat there, gasping for air. A cold sweat had wrapped itself around me and now I was shaking. My dream, my nightmare, was of my mutation. It happened on my fourteenth birthday. That day I had turned into a vampire because of my bloodline. Because of my bloodline all who turn fourteen in my family becomes a vampire whether they want to or not. I had no choice, neither did my father. You see, when my great great great great grandparents met, they fell in love. But one was a human, the other a vampire. So now, whenever someone in my family descending from my grandparents has a human child and not a vampire, they must wait until their fourteenth birthday to tell them that they are cursed. The child changes into a vampire on their fourteenth birthday because that was how old my grandparents were when they got married. It was an old custom that their family had made. And it sue was strange.. But since my mom married a human, the curse is stronger with me.
I sighed and layed back down, thinking over my dream. I had dreamed it why? I don't know. But I hated it. And that vampire? I don't know where That came from. But it freaked me out. I didn't act like that, I Never act like that. Sometimes I get close to acting that way whenever I hunt, but not on a regular basis. Sighing, I got up and got ready for a grumpy filled day.

    Part 6

Again I arrived at school right before the bell rang. I landed in my seat and just dropped my bag on the floor, not set down carefully, but dropped. My mood was grumpy, and my upper lip was curled into a snarl type form. Everyone was talking and it was giving me a headache.
"Hey Quorra!", I looked over at Shelby, who had a very surprised look on her face. Rolling my eyes I slumped in my chair even more, but took of my snarling look.
"WHAT?!?!" People were staring at me. Now everyone was staring at me, creating a silent atmosphere. "I- I mean what?" Someone coughed, others chuckled, and the rest scoffed as they turned their heads to copy the BellWork on the board.
I was hungry, starving even. Cranky as I was, I Had to keep my cool. My eyes scanned the room for someone appa- 'wait! No! these are my classmates! I can't pick out someone to drink from!' I groaned.
"Nothing, I was just saying hi." Shelby said slowly.
For the rest of the school day we didn't talk at all Thank Goodness!
As we walked home she asked, "Are you doing anything tonight? I was thinking, maybe we could have a sleepover-" I shook my head vigorously. "No, I can't. I am too cranky."
"Well why are you cranky?" She eyed me suspiciously. "You're not on crack are ya?"
    She started laughing.
Grumbling, I sped ahead, forcing her cracked-up self to try and keep up with me. "It was a joke! Gosh! What are you so bugged about then?" She was half serious now.
"Vampire, remember?" I slightly shook my head as I spoke. "My mom doesn't feel well and my parents need to talk some things through, so now we can't go out and hunt tonight and now I am starving!" My voice sounded sarcastic. I knew she thought I was a crack-pot right now but I didn't care, right now I was too concerned about my mood.
"Wow. I can't believe that you are still hooked on that theory of yours." My jaw tightened and I moved it to the right. "It's not a Theory! Why else would I have a sudden mood swing? Well, whether you believe or not don't tell anyone that I told you what we are. Because if you did, then we'd have to kill you." A small smirk planted itself on my face. She rolled her eyes and sighed.
Reaching into her jean pocket, she withdrew her black iPhone.
"What are you doing?" My voice grew dark and alerted, tense.
She started to dial a number. "I'm calling Carly, she'll flip when she finds out that you're a vampire." I growled and spun around to face her. Seizing her shirt collar, I tugged her off of the ground and pulled her closer. Her eyes were wide as my pupils grew small, a sign that I was closer to killing my prey. My breaths were haggard now, and I was shaking. Setting her down, I closed my eyes. That was close. "You were saying?" My breaths were normal now, but I was still trying to control my urges to kill her. I opened my eyes and snarled when I saw her phone still out. Her eyes grew even wider when she saw my fangs. As she spoke she began to shake, "N-noth-nothing. Nothing at all." A faint smile spread on her face. She hurried to put her cell away. She stared at me for a while, probably contemplating on whether to try running away screaming or to just pretend like nothing happened.
A pang of guilt hit me. "Sorry about that, it's just that whenever it comes to family secrets I can get very, very, uh protective." She nodded and started walking. "You won't eat me will you?" This time I laughed. "No! I, uh, wait! We don't eat we drink-" Then I saw the look on her face, though she shouldn't be surprised. Everyone knows vampires drink blood, not 'eat' people. "But don't worry, I won't change either. Hunger tends to take over us whenever we are close to a living thing. Our instincts tell us to attack, seize our chance, but our minds sometimes say different." ,I assured her. She said 'ok' and smiled. Before she went inside she promised not to tell my secret and I asked her why she wouldn't after what I just did? I wanted to know what she would say. "Because you're my friend and I keep my friends secrets." She had said. Those words kept on replaying in my head as I walked into my house.
