• Chapter One: The Attack
    Makayla --

tab The seventh hour bell rang signaling that school was over and that the weekend had begun. I slowly made my way over to my locker, trying to prolong my unwanted after-school meeting with the Undesirables. The Undesirables, or what you may call the football jocks and preps, would stalk us after school every Friday for the heck of it and, evidently, it ended badly for the ones who couldn’t get away. It always did, but we always hoped that one day would be different, that one day they would tire of chasing and beating us down. Well, lets just say we’re still hoping.
tab After putting my stuff up, I met up with my friends and started walking towards the local hangout for us emo’s, and sure enough, there were the jocks following us at a distance. The ritual was about to start for the millionth time. Glancing over my shoulder every few minutes, I was the first to notice them charging at us, and gave a heads-up to my comrades. The brawl had begun. We scattered in every direction, but we were greatly out numbered by two to one, and pretty soon all but a few of us had managed to escape. My feet pounded the asphalt as I heard from behind at least two of them chasing me. Ahead of me and to my left, Taylor and Matt, to my right, Zach, and all of them had three pursuers.
tab By the time a side street came up, I was already breathing hard and the distance between me and the jocks was closing in tighter. I stumbled once or twice once the pain in my side had started to settle in, and before I knew it, I was being pushed into an alleyway. I doubled over in agony and glanced up looking for an escape route…no such luck. They blocked off the entrance.
tab “It’s Makayla, isn’t it,” the tall, dark haired jock looked over at his companion with a smirk on his face as I stayed silent, “We’ll try to make this as painful as possible.”
tab I braced myself for the sudden pain as fists and feet came in contact with my skin. Then it came all at once. I could only hear myself screaming from a distance. I coughed up blood numerous times, and the pain from my side increased every time. Not too long after, I couldn’t feel anything anymore. My body just went numb, and slowly blackness took over my eyes.
