• Belonging only to the stars.

Avi was a mysterious girl. She worked alone and tried her best to do everything alone. But she was a sweet and wide-open person on the inside. She was very artistic.

She drew things that were like her, quiet and beautiful. Her workspace was her room. It was fully painted white, but a white that almost shone during the night. There was a table standing in the middle on the faint room. There was no bed, only a small couch with a blanket covering it. The room had a view out to the forest in her backyard. This all gave her inspiration.

The summer heat barged into her hometown. This and snow were the only things that could get her out of her room. She sat in the cool grass, overlooking the far valley. The valley was full of green, and full of life. She had her sketchbook right beside her. She stared up into the sky, barely any clouds. The wind faintly pushed her hair back. A bird flew over the valley. She smiled and pulled a piece of paper from her notebook. She started to write.

“Hello. My name is Avi. If you receive this note, wherever you are, just remember....”

Her head ran out of thought.

“the stars will guide your way.”

She folded the note into a paper airplane. She stood up and threw it. The plane flew and flew through the blue sky. “Good luck.” She whispered. “Thank you.”

She stayed in the sun until the Sun faded behind the valley. She laid down in the grass and closed her eyes. A light so bright lit up her eyelids. Avi opened her purplish eyes and saw a firefly sitting on her nose. She reached up to her nose and let it crawl on her finger. It seemed like it was smiling at her. The firefly blinked, liked it was winking at her. It flew away and she stood up. Fireflies surrounded her, circling her. Every second something winked at her. She let out her hands and looked around. There was a whirring sound that made the fireflies stop blinking. A person walked up from the valley.

“She has come. Our hero as come.” The figure said. “What? What are you talking about?” The person turned away and smiled. “You are the one who holds the most gorgeous power in the world.” The figure, now Avi had been able to see in the dark that it resembled a young man, held up a rectangle. She looked on the ground and saw that her sketchbook was gone. “Hey! Give it back!” He held the book and smiled. The book lit up and the pages turned.

    “You decide our future.”

Avi's eyes opened wide. “How so?” She asked, tilting her head.

“This book. Whatever you draw in this book will come to life, and if it's too dangerous or unbelievable, something similar will happen.” He turned a page or two. The book was still lit up, and he showed her a picture. The picture contained lights flying around someone. What just happened.

    I'm not getting this...

“So, you get it now?” She looked up from the book and saw that the young man stood closer. “Who are you?” She asked. “Kai.” He replied. “And you?” Avi chuckled. “So, you know all this stuff about me and the world, but you don't even know my name?” Kai chuckled wit her. “Okay. Sorry. I'm Avi.” “I like that name. It's sweet.” Kai whispered. “Thank you.” Avi closed the book. “What are we supposed to do now?” Avi asked, looking around. “Why are you out here so late?” Kai asked. “My house isn't so far away, and I told my mom I would probably be out here all night.” This was true, they were practically in her backyard. Kai grabbed her free arm that wasn't holding the book. “What?” She said, startled. “Look at the moon,” Kai said, pointing obviously at the moon. It was full, and a wolf's cry could be heard. “I love the moon. It makes me feel awake.” Avi said, in a trance.

“Do you?” Kai asked, smiling. “Lovely.”
