    Chapter one
    Outcast

It wasn't the first time I'd felt lonely. I flopped my long black hair round me to try and sheild myself from everyones resentful looks, and to not see them manouvering away from me. I'd been used to living in my own sphere ever since i came here, a whole year by now.

It was Kingmans high school that I now attended and which I had attended since I'd moved to america. Everyone here spoke with American slang and mocked me for my skin tone and eastern accent. I had but one friend, and that very person was basking in the sun of greece, leaving me here abandoned.

People here resented me for more than just my skintone, it was for my interlect to. I was in the top 100 birghtest people In america and someone had manage to spread it through the entire school in just a week. People here didn't apreciate being bright in this school, they were more into the slutty styles. While I wanted to discuss maths in maths class (That is what its for afterall) they all wanted to talk about the latest beach party or who got stoned last night.

I walked up to the entrance to the main building, singing my favourite song 'animal I've become' under my breath. I wished kira my best friend was here, the resentment never seemed so bad. Kira was magical, everyone seemed to get on with her. she had what I called the spark, the ability just to be liked. I was seriously lacking in the spark. As I wished, just a few tears managed to escape. I sniffed and wiped them with my hand. I would not cry. I'd make it through this year.

eventually i came face to face with the door to english, my favourite subject. Inside, the classroom was chaous, everyone shouting and screaming. Someones rubber flew at my head, then Jason, the captin of the football team, stumbled up to me, obviously drunk, and asked me where the toilettes were. I just sidestepped past him and took my usual seat at the back. Another rubber pinged off my hair.

When everyone had arrived, the door swung open. I waited for Mr. Long to enter and everyone to fall silent but... someone else walked in. My eyes followed him through the door, waiting to see his face. Then he turned.

He was, well, firstly he was new, but more importantly he was... beautiful. His hair was a deep oak brown with slightly lighter highlights. the grass green eyes which were slightly uneven sparkled in the bashed-up lamp's light, his lips were a full, angular shape. Something about him was entrancing, yet no one else around me seemed to care. They just kept on gossiping and giggling togther.

The boy looked around the room, searching for a seat in our full classroom. I realised the only seat left was next to me. Sheepishly I looked down and pretended to be searching for my pencil case, which was infact on the floor curtosey of another flying rubber.

eventually i gave up trying to avoid him and looked up from my bag. He was smiling at me. Gosh it was ages since someone had smiled at me, it felt like someone was holding the sun infront of me. "Hi I'm Daniel." He said, still grinning his beautiful grin. He lifted his hand to wave but then reaslised he was right next to me and stopped and flushed.

I grinned automatically, but not a nasty grin, a warm one. "Hi im Jailey, but most people call me jade..." or dont call me anything at all I thought sullenly.
"Oh yeah most people call me Danny!" He replied. "Ok, Hi danny." I felt like an utter moron for that. "Are you knew here?" I asked. "Yeah, just moved from australia, it was warmer there." he added thoughtfully. I grinned remebering my days in eygpts baking sun.

"You a sun lover?" I asked enthused. He smilied in response, "Definetly, I-" But he was cut short as Mr.long entered the room. We all rose like robots, chanting the "Good moringing sir!" in union. Dan looked a little lost so i whispered, "Just be gald you aren't a robot yet." If he wasn't gald, it didnt matter because I certainly was.
