• “Ha ha ha!” cackled Mon Ocle, the most diabolical crime lord in Metal City. “Once my
newest device is finished I can take over the world and… I’m pretty sure Agent R won’t stop me this time!”

Just then there was a sound of glass breaking and a loud thud.

“Ow! Ow! Ow! It hurts! My back! Oh God, I think there’s glass in my back! Why did I do that? What was I thinking? That was so stupid! Oh jeez, is my arm broken? Ok, nevermind, it isn’t. Still hurts, though. Aw, man! I smashed my cigar!” came a voice.

“That voice! Agent R!” shrieked Mon Ocle with despair.

“Yes it is I, Agent R, and I’m going to stop you!” Agent R proclaimed heroically.

“How is it that you always know when I’m up to something?” asked Mon Ocle.

“I live across the street.” replied Agent R, pointing out the window.

    “Oh…”

“Yeah… Anyways, I’m going to stop you!”

“Not this time!” Mon Ocle said. He pushed a button and metal bars sprung out of the ground to form a cage around Agent R. Mon Ocle laughed maniacally. “That’s the twentieth time you’ve fallen for that!”

“What are you planning to do this time?” Agent R asked. He shook the cage bars to test their strength. He figured that a couple of blasts from his cutting laser, located in his sunglasses, would do the trick, but he decided that he would wait till the last moment to use it. He was also glad that he hadn’t worn his Smokescreen Sunglasses™ that day.

“Since you can’t cause me any harm to me while you’re in that cage I’ll tell you,” answered Mon Ocle, “I’m going to use this Ultra Inflation Beam to make every religious person so buoyant they’ll never be able to swim again! And I’ll start with St. Reims Cathedral!”

“What? Why would you do that?” questioned Agent R.

“Well… I’m going to do it because… umm… I don’t know, but I’m going to do it!” Mon Ocle answered as he picked up the remote control for the beam.

Agent R quickly cut through the cage bars with the cutting laser, but he was too late. Mon Ocle had spotted Agent R as he was shaking the last cage bar free. Realizing that Agent R was close to escaping, Mon Ocle pushed the button on the remote labeled “Fire”. The machine’s engines revved and a bright green beam shot into the sky filling the room with pulsating light.

Mon Ocle took off, but not before smashing the remote. Agent R shouted curses after him for a couple of minutes. Suddenly remembering what he was supposed to be doing,` he turned his attention to the beam. After searching around the machine’s base for a while he finally decided to just unplug it from the wall.

Even though Mon Ocle had gotten away, again, Agent R was able to stop the beam. But ever since that day, the nuns at St. Reims Cathedral were buoyant.
