• Chapter One

........The Pale brown house had each windowsill with sandy peach gloss as the outer layer, followed by hand made carvings of infant angels at the corners. The Front door was exactly the same, but the carving looked more real then what you would expect to have seen. The marble gloss stones lead from the front gate to the wooden steps of the porch. The gate was quite old with the rusted bolts that latched it all together, it seemed to be the only thing out of order. The silent wind blew the Autumn leaves across the lawn, scattering them around the Dove statue. The dead rose bushes was lined up against the statute from corner to corner, while the withering pedals fell upon the green grass. The soft noises of birds chirping from a far distance made it seem more lovely.
..........A corvette stopped in front of the rusted gate. The glittering paint of the corvette was a light brown color. As the ignition turned off, the back door, stepping out was a young six year old girl. Her short, brown, and curly hair held back in a French braid, as to show off her big blue green eyes. With a gentle smile, she slammed the door and ran to the gate, pushing it aside, making a small creaking noise as the rusted bolt pressed up against each other. Slowly closing from the wind. The tapping of her shoes heel clicked against the stone floor, shuffling at the same time as she sped up to the front porch. She never saw something so beautiful on any door. Her delicate small fingers traced the design of the Angels cheek. It was rarely seen anywhere. Her eyes fluttered as she looked at the steal knob.
........Soon she took her eyes away looking at her mother stepping out of the vehicle, nice high heel boots, skinny jeans and a shirt that was tight around her stomach. It was as though she was a model. The roots of her hair was hidden by a leather jazz hat, hiding the black roots of her hair, and the mixture of the brown dye. She turned around and breathed in slowly her heart started pounding on her ribcage for some reason. A small shadow crept up behind her taking the suns warmth away from her chill body. She turned quickly looking at the man in the black and white suite stood back to her. His blond hair was combed back, and stayed with gel, and his clothing was brand new, shoes bought yesterday, and shined and cleaned at home. Unless he was the type to do his job with passion of judgment, or to get Melanie?
.........His piercing blue eyes, stared at the floor, he seemed to swallow a bit. He straightened his tie and gave a confident smile. Charlotte didn’t understand expressions, but she did understand the flirting processes to encourage the other person to flirt back. She shook her head and turned back to the door. If he wanted to flirt with Mel, then it would take a lot to get past her mean strike against guys who flirt in front t of her daughter. Then have at it!

.........Melanie’s heels stopped tapping on the stone path toward the porch. She looked at the guy who stood still, his smile strange with flirtation in it. She smiled politely, and nodded her head going past him, but he stopped her by clearing his throat. “I think, a beauty like yourself, would let me walk you to the door,” he said his left side of his lips lifted up showing his teeth.
..........Talk bout fast, stupid if you ask me, aren’t they already at the door?
..........Melanie smiled and folded her arms under her chest, her jazz hat covered her right eye with the soft shadow. She tilted her head to the left and shook her head softly; unnoticeable. “Well, if you look,” she started as her finger pointed at the door. “Were already here,” She shook her head for him to see. He jiggled the keys in his pocket and smiled.
........“I have the keys, If you want to go in you will have to get it from me,” he said as he raised his arm up high. He was a very tall guy, a normal size, she still looked small, her growth spurt probably is over. She sighed and went close to him, he lifted it up more straight, as she tried to reach for it, but by the time her body was close to his, she knew what he was trying to do.
..........“Can you give me the keys, Please,” she stuck her left hand out.
..........“Uh, no get it first,” he said his smile going as confident as it could go.
..........Playing a game huh? Well were sure going to play!!!

..........Charlotte Looked at the knob, something odd was upon it. Everything around her had shut off. The noise, movement, and the house. Only her and the knob remained. Behind the two adults, was a figure of a man moved on the knob. She squinted hard, looking deeper in the knob, looking at the figure of the man. He stood there his hands in his pocket, but he was nothing but a shadow. As She turned her head looking past the paused adults. There was nothing there, that odd sensation crept up her spine, giving her hair the chills. Looking back at the knob, her eyes were closed, she didn’t want to say a word, but for some reason, why wouldn’t she?
..........Her eyes popped Open as her surroundings became clear. The noise, the movement, and the shaking knob? Her eyes flustered as she looked at it. Suddenly, it stopped, but only because something was about to happen. She looked closely at it and breathed in heavily. A hand came out from behind her onto the knob, making her flinch and back up with a gasp. Looking up she looked at her mother, her heart hitting her cage, as her pulse vibrated on her ears.
..........“Did I scare you?” She asked already knowing the answer. She tilted her head her smile with the closed eyes, and the perfect face in contact with Charlotte’s.
.........“Mommy?” She asked more then say. Her eyes were upon the guy, that was standing earlier, and was now on the floor. Curled up in a ball like a cat, grunting in pain. “What happened to him?” she asked.
..........Melanie turned the key in the key hole. Turning it she gave a sweet smile. Hidden behind it was another one. “Oh him? Mommy was playing a game,” she said smiling, still holding that hidden smile behind her face.
