• Ember looked, wide-eyed, at the secured, prison-like compound. Twenty houses were erected in the barbed wire fenced off area.

"Welcome to The Fire Demon Lair," he proudly stated. He pulled up into a driveway in front of a two-story white house. "This is where I live with my parents. Estelle lived here too until my father kicked her out."

Ember felt suddenly nervous. What if they can tell that I'm only a half-demon? Will they kill me? She thought.

He led her into the house. The house was lavishly decorated with all the modern things and expensive possessions.

A woman with long blonde hair and reddish-orange eyes walked up to the two in hurried steps. She had horns similar to Ignite's and was dressed in a long orange dress. She had pale skin and painted red nails. "Hello, Ignite! How was your lunch expedition?" She said, sweetly.

"I met a new friend, Mother," he stated proudly, "Her name is Ember and is a Fire Wolf Demon." He indicated Ember politely.

"Fire Wolf Demon, eh? I'm Nagi. It's nice to meet you, Ember. Do you need a place to stay for the night?"

"Thanks, but--"Just then, another demon walked in. He had gray hair that was short and neatly kept. He was dressed in a crisp suit like an important businessman, but the only things that made different were his eyes that were both red and orange like flames and his horns. His mere stance dictated his power as a demon lord.

    "My Mate!" Nagi said excitedly.

"Father!" Ignite said, bowing to his father's presence.

The demon lord walked up to Ember, who froze under his hard gaze. He was studying this new presence in his household. "And who are you?" He said in a cold tone.

"I'm Ember, sir, and I'm a Fire Wolf Demon," she said, slightly scared.

"I see," he said, "I am Horatio, Lord of all the Fire Demons." He seemed too proud of his title. He stared deeply into her eyes. "I also see something deeper in your eyes. You are hiding something from this demon lord."

Ember felt terrified. If he finds out that I'm only a hybrid, I'm as good as dead. She shook under the fear now. She was about to answer, when Ignite spoke up.

"Father, I love her, and she loves me," said Ignite proudly.

Horatio changed his focus onto his son now. "I was hoping that your first love would be from our clan, but," he sighed slightly, "your choice in mates is much better than that girl you still call a sister." He looked over at Ember once more, and then he looked back at his son. "You have my blessings."

Ignite smiled and took Ember, by the arm, up the spiral staircase.

Ember looked at him oddly until they reached a red door. She knew what he now wanted from her. "My-our- room." He admitted, opening the door.

In comparison to the rest of the house, Ignite's room was plain. The walls were white and dingy from smoke damage. The carpet was brown with patches of burn marks. The bed was huge with a giant red comforter and red pillows on it. A giant TV with all the video game systems known in the world hooked up to it was across from the bed. A CD shelf was next to it with the entire famous demon singer worldwide on it. "I've never had anyone else in my room before."

She noticed a large burn mark under her feet. "These burn marks, where did they come from?"

"Fights, and learning to control my powers," he said.

"Oh," she suddenly felt scared again, not ready to spill the truth to him.

Ignite knew, by the fear she was exerting, that she was terrified of something. "Don't worry, Ember," he tried to reassure her, "I wanna get to know you better."

Ember felt better at that. She walked up to him and kissed him right on the lips. "Like what?"

"I’ll think of something." He smiled.

Meanwhile, Horatio and Nagi stared at the stairs that their son and his first love ascended. "So the Fire Wolf Demons survived even after I told that crazy Demon Hunter where they lived," said Horatio, glaring upwards.

"Ignite loves her," Nagi pleaded with her mate, "and if you do anything to her, we'll lose our son."

"Don't fret, Nagi," he said, annoyed, "I do have a plan to get rid of her." He left Nagi and the house, entering another one.
