• I savored the chilly drip of ice cream on my tongue every summer. The sweet taste of whatever flavor I got was one of my favorite moments.

Now I pushed my bubblegum pink hair out of my eyes as I licked on my orange sherbet. My friend Darius was sitting beside me, bright blue eyes intense. As usual, his jet black hair was a spiky mess. I liked it that way. It showed how eccentric he could be sometimes.
My own shining green eyes were looking at the beautiful sunset that was settling behind my home, Dusk Town. Darius licked his vanilla cone once more. I could see him smiling ever so slightly.
"Aridity, do you think we will ever get to see the world beyond Dusk Town?" Darius asked. "I want to explore, go and travel to all the worlds out there."
"I want to go with you. I've always wondered what the other worlds are like." I said, smiling. My cute pixie hair might be on another girl, maybe in a different color.
"Darius?" I said quietly. He turned his head, looking cool and serious.
"Yes, Aridity?" His husky voice was one of the things I liked most about this aloof funny guy. He was one of the most empathetic, sympathetic, coolest, funniest people I have ever met. His hair always stuck up at strange angles, like it reached for the sky in a different way every day. Like he did.
"I wanted to say something. . ." This was even more quiet. It floated on the slight summer breeze that ruffled my hair.
"What might that be?" Darius' voice had taken on a softer tone.
    "I, I. . ." I wanted to say it. So badly.
    "I. . .love. . .you." I whispered.
