• "Where are you going Fat Face?".
    Oh no, it's them.
I turned around, my legs wobbling.
I was petrified. Breathing in and out loudly. I could hear my heart thudding quickly.
"No where of your interest Britney" I said.
Britney took a step towards me, we were nearly within punching range of each other.
"Are you trying to be brave or something Fat Face? Where's your stupid brother?".
"He's hiding from you so his eyes don't get burnt by your ugly face" I said, daringly.
    "What did you just say?"
"Well, obviously you're too deaf to hear the truth"
    Britney's followers gasped in shock.
"How dare you say that to Britney?" Stacy whispered, "she's a billion times more prettier than you, Fat Face".
I rolled my eyes and started walking away.
"Yeah, walk away Fat Face, you're a coward" Britney shouted at me.
I could've done a rude gesture or say a swearword back to her but I knew she'd just tell a teacher at school.
Every parent and teach thinks Britney is an utter angel and the sweetest girl they've ever met. It's just her act and looks that are misleading. Every kid knows that she's a horrible bully.
The people who follow her around are only doing that so they can't be bullied by her. I kicked a stone into a gutter and kept walking on towards home. I hadn't noticed how dark it was and so I looked at my watch.
    "8:30pm!! Oh no!" I thought.
    Way past my stupid curfew.
I started running into thr walk at the public gardens, which was the faster way.
I looked up at the dim lights that illuminated the footpath. As I walked, I was certain I heard the crunching of gravel nearby.
I looked around e, I felt my heard thudding beneath my ribs.
    "Oh, hello Rosie".
I turned around to see a guy from my Science class.
"Seriously Jacob, you gave me a fright!"
"I'm sorry that I scared you"
"No, it's alright.. I'm just a bit paranoid cause it is quite late. What are you doing here?"
"I was going to ask you the same thing, I have this habit of having late night jogs instead of early morning jobs.. kind of creepy I know"
"You mind if I walk with you?"
"Nope, be worried if we went separate ways"
    I felt my cheeks blushing.
"Um so did you have a good day?" I asked.
"It was alright, what about you?"
    "Okay.."
Obviously he thought it was awkward too.
For seconds there was silence, just the crunching of our feet on the gravel.
    Jacob suddenly stopped.
"Did you hear that Rosie?" he asked.
    "What?"
    He paused. Waited more.
    "Crunch!"
We looked around, anxiously to find what was making the sound.
"Maybe it just a bird" I said.
Suddenly a man with a mask jumped out with a knife, shouting words.
"Give me your money!" the masked man yelled, holding out his hand.
"I don't have any.." Jacob replied, fumbling around in his pockets.
The masked man looked at me.
    "Do you?"
"I don't have any money either.."
"Jewelry, like that necklace" the masked man said, pointing his finger at my neck.
    "No, it's a family heirloom" I thought.
"This is worthless, um, how about a cellphone?" I asked.
"No, I want that necklace and don't try anything funny, remember, I have knife in my and and you have nothing"
    "Leave her alone" Jacob said.
You could see the masked man's eyes turning to Jacob, fixating at him with anger.
"Shut up kid, she'll give me the necklace or I'll make her"
Jacob suddenly snatched the knife and started running.
    "Run Rosie!" he yelled.
I started running for my life, not even knowing if the masked man had any other weapons.
I felt a hand grab onto my arm.
    Definitely wasn't Jacob's.
