• It is a quiet night in Cashton. It’s a dirty little place out side Atlanta. I got here last week sometime. I walked along the side of the road not looking for anything in particular. Its gotten real quiet since I got here. It’s like all the people I saw last week seamed to have vanished into thin air. As I walked along I thought back on the week past. “It was Monday I think when I saw her. She had a long lean body and the oddest green eyes I had ever seen. They were an off green with the lightest touch of yellow. Soft and worm but filled with an odd untouched sadness. As my eyes met hers I felt a surge of energy flow through my body. She motioned for me to take a set right down next to her. I accepted the invite and ordered a bottle of tequila the good stuff. If it wasn’t top notch it wasn’t for me. She asked for my name and I obliged to tell her. Tom I said with a quick gulp. Mines Tara pleasure to be yah Tom heeeeeee her hand covering her plump red lips.”

Gerrrr with a jerk I stepped back as a cat raced past me. “That reminds me”; it was about three days ago when I saw another cat. This cat was black with one white strip over its left eye. It looked at me and hissed as if to challenging me to a fight. I just keep on walking not a bit fazed by the ugly old cat. What was I really doing here, for some reason I couldn’t remember. Then again this town would do that to you. Now where was I, He thought? “Ah Tara she was the greatest beauty I had ever seen. Deep brown hair with light highlights and long bouncy curls. After a few drinks I remember asking her if that was her natural hair color. She smirked and said “why yes it is honey.” That smirk was almost catlike, in fact it was just plain eerie. After that night I saw people less and less often. It was like something or someone was driving them out of town.

It was late now “best be getting back to the hole tell.” I see the street lights flicker on-and-off. I get this wired sensation in the pit of my stomach. “Just like last night I was taking a walk to clear my mind when it happened. I heard a voice, someone was behind me. “Tara is that you.” “You must get out” “what are you talking about.” “Just get out while you still can.” She vanished into the darkness and I felt a burst of energy take over my body. I ran as far as could, I had to get away form this town. I remember every terrifying step one-by-one. Down the ally, through main street, past the bar, and straight to the welcome to Cashton town sign. Just as I reached the sign I thought why. Why am I running, what was Tara so afraid of, and why do I care she’s just some delusional brood I picked up at a bar anyway. So I decided to stay and here I am now just walking around aimlessly trying to remember why I stopped in Cashton in the first place, and where I was going next.”

The town had a mysterious calmness to it tonight. I came to the hotel just a little rattled. I pushed open the old door and proceeded to the pay phone. The lobby had an eerie glow about it and the low but ever present hiss of that irritating cat. I picked up the receiver and heard nothing but silence. This old piece of junk wasn’t worth my time “I will call mom in the morning” and I went up the stairs do left of where I was standing now. I walked down the empty corridor and finally reached my door after an eternity. I took the key from my pocket and turned it in the key hole. I turned the door knob. The door creaked opened and a in a flash I was on the ground. “I’m so sorry Tom but its either you or me.” Then out of no where a black cat with one white strip over its left eye appeared in front of us. “Good Job Tara I will let you live to see another day.” “Thank you father I am humbled.” “Now my dear do you want the first bite or should I.....
