• Edgar blinked softly, before groaning, grabbing his forehead. He blinked a few more times, still somewhat blurry, and grabbed around underneath his bunk, before feeling a pair of glasses. He pulled his hand back around to his face, then rolled over so that he was facing the ceiling of the brightly-lit room. He put his glasses over his eyes and sat up, before realizing something. “Where the Hell am I?” he asked himself under his breath, before noticing a set of clothes on a Sterile-white table across form his bed. He sighed, put his hand through his shoulder-length hair, standing up.
He immediately wished he hadn’t done that, mainly because he realized that the floor was very, Very cold, and also because he felt slightly…heavy. Edgar wondered if that would be a good word to describe it, then shrugged to himself. He walked over to his clothes.
Ed grabbed and slipped on his underwear and tattered Dark-blue jeans, before noticing something. He picked up the black t-shirt, and looked a it’s back, to see two long holes go from his shoulder blades down, about half a foot long each. He blinked, before seeing a mirror above the table. He proceeded to scream and fall backwards, sitting for what seemed like a millennia, before standing back up again.
What had shocked Edgar wasn’t that he had gone from slightly chubby to almost starved-thin, or that he seemed slightly paler. While these would seem trivial, they were a large shock to him, albeit nowhere near as large as the giant, grey wings that had sprouted from his back.
He leaned closer to the mirror, reaching around himself with his left arm to touch his right wing, before feeling the feathery surface. He closed his eyes and counted up, before stopping himself, his wings moving backwards suddenly, pulling him almost back towards the center of the room. “No. This is just a dream, or a nightmare, or…or…” he tried to think, but stopped. “Christ” he murmured.
Edgar looked over at his shirt, then pulled it over his head and felt as his Wings almost Instinctively folded into the holes. He felt it make a gust as they expanded slightly, and sighed, before noticing a Brown hoodie, cut similar to his shirt. He sighed, pulling it on, his wings repeating themselves. “Huh.” He looked around himself for one more time, then looked back at the table, seeing a pair of black socks and a pair of Dark-grey sneakers. He put them both on, and headed back to his bunk, before stopping himself to look at the table again, noticing a drawer. He stepped over to it, and contemplated opening it, when a voice boomed into the room over an unseen intercom.
“Hello, subjects. To those of you that are awake, good morning. To those of you that aren’t, well, hopefully somebody will tell you what’s going on after you do. Anyway, we will be testing those on you on several things, including survivability, adaptability, and usefulness in a combat scenario.” Edgar heard the man stop for a breath, and continued.
“You see, at the end of the Next ten days, whoever is left standing will be deemed victorious, and may have their Enhancements, or mutations, if you prefer that term, evaluated on a scale, depending on how our subjects use the, After which you will be free to go. Now, in your room, there is a drawer underneath your clothing. In it is a Weapon and an object of varying use. Now, you may be lucky, and you may be Unlucky. In either case, it really depends on what you can do with it, so best of luck.” He heard the man stop, before hearing him go on again. “Also, those of you who awoke in a room with another subject, you have been paired up, though you may have already discovered why. Good luck.” Edgar heard a click, and the intercom went silent.

Edgar looked inside the drawer, his wings expanding and folding in a breathing motion. The first thing he noticed was a CD player, a set of generic headphones wrapped around it. He shrugged and took it out, stuffing it in his Jacket pocket, before feeling it not fit. He grunted in disappointment, and spent several minutes trying to get it to fit, before noticing a clip on one bit of it, putting it through one of his belt loops. He glanced back at the drawer, before blinking. “…Hello.” he muttered, gripping the handle of the Glock 17 that was put to the side of his Drawer.
Edgar ejected the magazine, seeing it full. “Goodie…” He muttered, glad they hadn’t given him a one-bullet gun. He made sure the safety was on, then put it in the back of his pants, before looking around the drawer to find nothing. “Phooey.” He muttered, stuffing his hands in his pockets, before stopping in shock.
He pulled a Cell phone out of his pocket, clearly confused. “Does everyone get one of these?” he asked himself out loud, before flipping it open. He pressed the menu button to see one message in his inbox. He looked over his shoulder, then opened the text message, reading ‘Here’s a gift. –Phantom’, from an unavailable number. Edgar closed the cell phone, putting it in his pocket. “I Guess not…” he muttered, before glancing over his shoulder. ‘Phantom. Guess that’s a Sign I Should be careful, if my knowledge of movies is not attempting to be cruel to me.’ He thought to himself, before chuckling.
Edgar looked over at his door, and sighed. “Should I leave...?” he asked nobody in particular, before deciding he may as well see where the Door went. His wings folded behind him, he touched the door, its steel handle freezing his palm. He pushed the door open, to see a hallway lit by low-intensity lights along the floor of the hallway.
The hallway itself was painted Dark blue, and seemed much taller then it probably was. Edgar looked down his left then his right, seeing nothing but the lights. He sighed, before closing his eyes and starting to spin. Eventually he stopped, and opened his eyes.
He was facing the hallway to the right of his door. Edgar looked over his shoulder, then trudged forward, until he came at a crossroad.
While it was still lined with lights, they were different. One of the rows had a red light instead of a white light, and there was a much larger spacing for the way across from Ed. And to his left, was a line of Green lights. He looked down both hallways on his sides, and glanced at the walls, before barely catching a plate that said “CAFETERIA” He looked down the green-lighted hallway, then at the Red-lighted hallway, and assumed that it must have been the direction, due to that hallway containing said plate. Edgar looked down the hallway with the fewer lights, but decided he may as well follow the red, not knowing where he was going anyway.
    And so, he walked.
