• tab Cillia limped into his arms. Allester had caught her, still held her, but it wasn’t to help her. They had performed a bond, and it was as simple as that. The monster, the creatures, had to ask for a bond to be made, had to make an offer. If the human accepts, the bond is completed and the human is then called users.
tab “As simple as that” Allester says menacingly. It doesn’t matter how you perform the bond. He just chose to perform it by a kiss, and a kiss is what made it work. “This feels….great!” a smile spread to his lips. His body tingled and heated up. The hair on his skin seemed to stand up like static. And that’s what appeared to be happening in the air around him—getting static. It flickered on and off, a streak of blue-white light around his body.
tab Power, this is my power. His smile broadens. Having a user meant more power for the monsters—for him. But the energy doesn’t come from nowhere. The extra power they receive is the strength from their users. Monsters can’t drain them dry because if they do, they both perish. Even from the afterlife they stay bound together. That’s why when you perform a bond; you have to choose wisely because you only get one chance.
tab And this is something that Allester is enjoying deeply. His blood ran quicker and his blue eye shone like the moon itself. His dyed orange-brown hair and blond streak began to disappear as his normal jet black hair returns to its rightful place. He clenched his teeth as fangs began to grow longer and longer. Then his eye patch, which had always been on for as long as he can remember, loosened and fell. A bloody red eye appeared, glowing like the embers in a dancing flame. It was demonic, and a demon is what Allester was soon becoming. He growled with pleasure at his new strength, muscles tensed and grew, veins pulsed. His ears were becoming sharper to the tip and his nails got longer—claws.
tab Then a whimper. It was quiet, very quiet, but very close. And it was coming from the body that was held in his arms. It was coming from Cillia. Her tiny cry of pain jolted Allester to a stop. Then everything went by fast like a forward button; his eyes stopped glowing, his nails went back to normal, his ears, fangs, and the power were all going back to its original form; except for his hair, his night black hair. Cillia was still unconscious. That whimper was her mind giving off a warning that she was weakening.
tab This is not the right time to do it, Allester thought, she’s already weak from the Honstuki. I have to wait till later to try out this new power of mine. Although that was the wisest thing to do, he was very disappointed. After feeling all that strength flow through him, he felt weak without it.
tab Screams echoed from the windows of the hospital. People inside were finding the bodies of the dead that Cillia had murdered uncontrollably. Allester reacted quickly. He swung his right arm under Cillia’s legs and lifted, supporting her body with his other arm around her back. Maybe having a user can also be a bad thing. Taking care of this kid will be a nuisance. He carried her off into the distance, faster than any human, looking like a runaway prince with his princess in his arms. When the door to the hospital opened, they were already gone.
