• Walking alone in the dark woods, I was searching for a path. It's dark out, I thought to myself. Scanning the floor for the trail, I felt a disturbance. I quickly scanned the area while I readied myself. The only response to the sound was the chilling silence.

Scared, I started running. As I delved farther into the woods, I slowed down so they wouldn't hear me. I looked at my father's watch to check the time. Almost midnight already? I thought. "Doesn't matter," I whispered under my breath, "as long as I get back t-" My foot got caught on a branch and I fell. Immediately I stopped moving. Did they hear me? They couldn't have. Not when I'm so close. After a few minutes, I got up and checked if I broke my father's precious watch. It was good.

Noticing that it was past midnight, I started looking for the trail again. "It should be right around... Huh?" I saw footprints under a bush. Human footprints. Renewed with energy, I started on the path. Finally, this can all be over.

Almost there. I picked up my pace when I heard something behind me. No, I must be imagining things. I heard the air crack when I felt a sharp pain in my left leg. No, not now! I tried dragging my leg along, but I could only do so for a few feet before another shot rang out. I collapsed. So close... So... close.....

I finally did it. I put away my pistol and followed the trail of blood. There he was on the floor, a bloody mess. A sack of money he had stolen was lying next to him. He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans, and on his wrist an old watch. "Well, you gave me one hell of a time, kid, but I finally got ya. Oh, and thanks for leading me to your hideout. This is what you get when you steal from the Don."
