• Chapter I: 2008 C.E. Washington D.C.
Washington D.C. is the place where the President works, home of the Pentagon, and future war zone. Volkner Mason, 12, school kid, and Alchemist. To some (most), Alchemy doesn’t seem much of a “fun” thing to do. Alchemy is the bending of nature itself into one non-catastrophic way, but that isn’t the way Volkner uses Alchemy. The Mason family has taken Alchemy to a whole new level.
Volkner was born on June 13th, 1995 at 3:58 am. His brother, Sig Mason, was born on the exact date and time, but five years later. Sig and he both attend “The Pentagon Academy for the Intelligent and Talented”. Acceptance is quite hard, considering it’s only for intelligent, talented, or rich kids. Their parents were quite really poor, but lucky Volkner got accepted after showing his talent for Alchemy, and Sig “easily” talked himself into the academy.
It’s 2:58 at the academy. It was the last period of the day, Volkner’s least favorite and Sig’s most favorite. It was Alchemy.
“Now kids, to properly transmute this simple piece of metal into gold, it simply just to drop it in the freezing solution you just brewed up and let the solution do the rest!” said Miss Finkle, the worst teacher ever who is over like, 90,000 years old. Volkner scoffed. “Or you can just take a Transmution Card and place the metal on the card. Such an idiot,” whispered Volkner. “What was that Mr. Mason?!?!” said Miss Finkle. “Uh….nothin’,” said Volkner. “It may be the last day of school, but I can still expel you! Office, now!!!” exclaimed Miss Finkle. “Um…. Please!!! Just let me stay until the end of the class. Then you can expel me!! Please?” said Volkner. “Oh, alright then,” said Miss Finkle. “Phew. Now it’s time to go back,” said Volkner. “Volkner got in trouble!” said Sig. “Sig, shut up.” said Volkner. Volkner took out a Transmution Time Card to make time go back (it’s like a time machine, but in a card). Volkner bended time and space it self to go back to 2:58. “Now kids, to properly transmute this simple piece of metal into gold, it simply just to drop it in the freezing solution you just brewed up and let the solution do the rest!” said Miss Finkle again. “Yes Miss Finkle!” said Volkner. “Volkner, I never seen you so interested in Alchemy before!” said Miss Finkle. “Well, I’ve been hiding my true feelings for Alchemy all this time I guess!” said Volkner. “Well, I’m going to miss you, Volkner. Just a hint, the 8th grade Alchemy teacher will not be as good as me of course!” said Miss Finkle. “Sure…….” said Volkner. The bell rang for the students to go home.
Volkner and Sig always walk the one and a half mile distance to their home. “Hey big brother, can you teach me Alchemy?” said Sig. “You can’t master Alchemy until you turn eight….which is tomorrow actually,” said Volkner. “Can you please give me a short lesson when we get home?” begged Sig. “I don’t think so…” said Volkner. “Maybe I can teach you, Sig!” said Rose Gartner. “R- Rose!! Never sneak up on us again! It scared Sig!” said Volkner. “No I wasn’t. You were the one who was “emotionally” scared,” said Sig. “So can I teach him?” said Rose. “Well….” said Volkner. She doggie lipped. “Oh no- the face!!!!” said Volkner. It even got doggier. “Oh fine!! You’re lucky I’m a sucker for a pretty face, Sig!” said Volkner. “YAY!!!!” said both Sig and Rose. Sig skipped the rest of the way home.
They were all about a half way home when Rose brought up, “Do you really mean I have a pretty face?” “Well sure. I guess so,” said Volkner. Rose blushed. “Uh…. what I mean is…. Sig, I’ll teach you too!” said Volkner. When Rose and Volkner were crossing a street, a police car was chasing a criminal when all of a sudden the criminal’s get-away-car was about to kill them. At that moment, Volkner took out an Air Transmution Card and sprouted wings to fly upward with Rose before they both got hit. “WOW!!! That was amazing Volkner!! You’ve gotta’ teach me that!” said Sig. Volkner landed and the wings disappeared. “Not until level 739,” said Volkner. “Well come on now! We don’t want to be late for mom’s Norwegian style Chili!!!” said Volkner running with Sig. “Oh brother!! Guys! Wait up!!” said Rose.

    Chapter II: Teaching Sig
It was the first day of teaching Sig “True Alchemy” or the “True Transmution”. “Okay, first, the basic of all Alchemy is to focus on the transmution and not on anything else,” said Volkner. “Yeah sure what ever,” said Sig while playing his PSP. “Focus is the key to learning, so give me your PSP,” said Volkner. “Hold on! I’m playing my Naruto game!!” said Sig. “Hey Sig…. if you give me your PSP, I’ll show you something only Volkner and I know….” said Rose. “You both like each other?” said Sig still playing his PSP. Volkner pulled out a Fire Transmution Card and burned Sig’s PSP. “Hey!!! Ow!!!” said Sig. “Will you learn or not?” said Volkner. “Ok,” said Sig. “As I was saying, focus,” said Volkner. “First you need to see how simply Alchemy can be,” said Volkner. “Here are the simple Alchemy Cards. Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind,” said Rose giving Sig four different cards. “Cool! Can I keep them?” said Sig. “Of course! It can be your early birthday present!” said Rose smiling. “But they won’t be of any use if you don’t know how to do Alchemy first off,” said Volkner. “Unlike me, everyone new to Alchemy that starts off like this has the rank of, well, “Under Achieving Trainee”. I’m called the “Air Alchemist”. Rose here on the other hand is an “Alchemist Apprentice”. Wow. Rose is so cute. She is perfect for me, but she is so much older than me…. thought Sig, intentionally ignoring Volkner. “Sig. Sig! Sig!!” yelled Volkner. “Huh? Oh yeah sure, ranking,” said Sig. “I just showed you the simple technique of transmuting metal into gold!” said Volkner. “You should pay attention more often,” said Rose. “*Sigh* we’ll start tomorrow morning then,” said Volkner. They all headed in. “Is it okay if I sleep over?” said Rose. “Well…” said Volkner. “Can she?” said Sig when he rudely interrupted him. “Sure, if you can stay up until three in the morning….” said Volkner. “Okay then! I’ll sleep over!” said Rose. Volkner yelled to his mom asking, “Mom! Can Rose sleep over?” “Sure, Volkner! You and Sig haven’t had any friends over for a while!” replied his mom back.
The Mason family and Rose sat down at the dinner table to have Volkner and Sig’s mom’s Norwegian Chili. “SO GOOD!!!!!” said both Volkner and Sig. They had seconds before you could say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (seriously). After they were done eating, Volkner, Sig, and their dad, were sitting down for their “Friday Night Smack down” guy night (they do this every Friday night).
After Smack down, Volkner and Sig made a bed for Rose up in their room. “Well Rose…. this is the best we could do,” said Volkner. “It’s right near my bed….” said Sig. “Yeah……. Sig you’re going to watch a movie with mom tonight. I’m teaching Rose Alchemy that you can’t really hear,” said Volkner. “But why?” said Sig sadly. “She’s my apprentice,” said Volkner. “You’ll be watching Lord of the Rings the Fellowship of the Ring, your favorite movie…” “Coming mom!!!” said Sig excitedly. He ran to their mom’s room. “He loves the series,” said Volkner. “Anyway, we’ll start from the beginning of lesson level 118.” “Volkner, wait. I have to tell you something,” said Rose. “What is it?” said Volker. “Well, we’ve known each other for a very long time,” said Rose. “Yeah. Since we were two months old and our parents knew and lived next to each other in the same exact house for the past thirty years. Heck, my dad known your dad when they were toddlers,” said Volkner. “And we grew up together, right?” said Rose. “Before Sig was born, I used to go over your house every day. Went to church with you every Sunday. Went to the same school and been in the same classes for the past eight years since kindergarten. Yeah, you could say that,” said Volkner. “And have we made a liking to each other?” said Rose. “Well as a friendship, yeah,” said Volkner. “And, um, do you have any, um, feelings for me?” said Rose. “Oh I remember that! Remember when we at the local playground? Before we went home, I-,” said Volkner, paused at the last word. “I……..kind of….you knows…*coughed* kissed you,” said Volkner. “Yeah, I could say that we had some good times, er, times I mean.” “I didn’t ask that Volkner. I asked do you have feelings for me. Do you?” said Rose. Volkner stuttered. “Maybe. I really don’t know. Things are just to confusing now for me to make that decision now,” said Volkner. “Maybe a kiss will help?” said Rose. What do I do? Kiss her? Thought Volkner. He went for it, and just when they were about to kiss, Sig jumped in. “HA! So that’s why you don’t want me in here!” said Sig. Volkner broke away and said, “Sig, it’s just a friendly….. Mind helping kiss, er, thing,” said Volkner. “Right, sure…….” said Sig. “By the way, why aren’t you watching your movie?” said Volkner. “Mom couldn’t find it,” said Sig
It was soon tomorrow for Volkner and Sig’s birthday. The cake blowing was soon going to start. “Mom!!! When can we eat the cake?” said Sig. “You mean “you”,” said Volkner. “Aww….. It’s so cute when Sig asks…” said Rose. “Really? Oh Rose honey, that’s so nice to say that about Sig,” said Mrs. Mason. “Ok kids! The cake is ready to be blown out!” The cake had the number 13 and 8. “Happy Birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy Birthday, dear Volkner and Sig. Happy Birthday to you….” said their parents and Rose. When they blew out the candles, a wormhole appeared out of know where and sucked in Volkner, Rose, and Sig.
