• Prologue

Alyssa Chan walked silently. She spoke not much, but a lot in her own way. When around people she knew well, a chatterbox was she. The beautiful spring day could of been reflected in so many mirrors, so you could see it not once, but several times, and not knowing which is reality in the dream world.
Alyssa sat under her favorite willow tree with several strong branches atop the withering bark. The leaves were a dark gray color with a hint of green. Pulling out from her side bag, she took out odds and ends; a spring, a music box, a mirror, a book, cookies, a little glass milk bottle and a notepad complete with three pencils.
She put everything back in her bag, and kept the book out. "Dreams in Reality," Alyssa read aloud. Pulling out her ribbon bookmark, a small comb was found in her saved page. She sighed. Whenever an object like this was found, it meant use it. Alyssa pulled out her mirror, and combed through her brown silky hair. Not a tangle was found. She left it on the ground and read her first paragraph aloud.
"Alyss was dreaming. Or so she thought. Whatever she touched was solid, and didn't dissolve. The purple tree barks and the red leaves were beautiful against the sunlight. To think she had gotten here through a trapdoor! She followed the path between the trees. She felt so lost, out of place. Didn't know where to go. Until she gave up and was hungry. She sat on a nearby stump, and began to cry." Alyssa took a deep breath. Thud! A rock hit the surface of her head, and she looked up into the willow tree. A girl that looked her age kicked her legs in the air, smiling wickedly down at her. She had bright, fiery red hair with a yellow ribbon acting as a headband. She had a single fang tooth going slightly out of her mouth. The girl donned a uniform; it was a yellow bow in the center of her chest with short sleeves. At the ends it had little wings. One side angel, the other devil. Her skirt was red, and matched her completely. Suddenly, she spoke.
"I don't suppose you've finished it have you? Since your only at the part where Alyss has arrived in Dream Clouds..."
    "How'd you know?"
The girl jumped off the tree, landing on her feet as swift as a kitten.
"My name is Riika. Double 'i'." She smiled her wicked smile again. "You are..?"
"My name is Sonia." Alyssa felt very uncomfortable talking to this girl.
"Your lying. I can see it."
Riika walked around Alyssa, looking at her closely.
    "Alright, my name is Alyssa."
She nodded in approval, and continued to pace around her, studying her. She slapped her bottom.
"Ah!" Alyssa squealed. She covered her bottom, her face burning. She clutched her book tightly, afraid of her now, and quite angry with her. Angry tears flooded her eyes.
"I'm sorry. Want to slap me too? I'm kidding don't cry. I was just checking." Her red eyes sparkled with worry. Up close, Riika was beautiful. Her uniform was perfect with her eyes and hair. Compared to Alyssa, Riika could be a model. Alyssa was wearing a uniform too. It was a brown sweater vest over a white polo. A plaid blue skirt followed beneath it. Her hair fell gently over her shoulders, and she wiped her tears away from her dark brown eyes. Alyssa did slap her. Hard. But Riika didn't seem to mind.
"Do you have a mirror?"' she whispered seductively.
Alyssa burned red hot, but nodded. What does she think shes doing?!
Riika shrugged, and reached into her side bag. Her hand fumbled inside, and her hand hit Alyssa's thigh high up. She squealed and slapped her hand away. But Riika held the mirror, and put it against the sunlight.
    "It's beautiful. Come."
Reluctantly, thinking they had a chance at friendship, she held her hand and closed her eyes just in case.
"It's alright.." she whispered softly. She slowly brought their hands up, and reached to touch the mirror. Alyssa waited, waiting for impact to hit her hand. She opened her eyes. Alyssa gasped.
Still slowly, Riika was putting her hand into the mirror. She tried to pull away. Riika tightened her grip and began to yell.
"Don't fight it! Please! Your our last hope!"
Her sad face was so adorable, and no one could resist. Alyssa stopped resisting, and allowed herself to be pulled through a looking glass.
    *******
    "That wasn't bad, was it?"
They stood in a forest with red leaves and purple bark. The sunlight reflected lightly, and she could see Riika through the mist.
    "Ah! What.. happened to you?!"
Riika had the same apparel as before. Except now she had golden cat ears, a long red tail, and a yellow paw that looked like a pillow for her hand. She slipped off the glove.
"Welcome to the Land of the Looking Glass. Dream Clouds as you would know." She faced Alyssa. "And the looking glass is about to break, and the clouds are crying. You are our last hope for this land, because your mother failed to save us, Alyss."
