• The glowing insignia of the Royals could only be given to a child of the royal family, and the child had to undergo a rite as well as survive it. Without the a right of passage the insignia would consume the child until it became nothing more than a hollow shell. In other words the child would die and leave the body as a glass casing. But a peseant boy living with the insignia? Impossible, yet here he was before my very eyes, breathing, and asleep with sweet dreams. Tenshi no Sora(angel of the sky) as they called him, but his real name was Destin. The name sounded familiar yet new at the same time. I've never met this child before in my life!

His eyes opened, they were light brown like the autum leaves that fall from the trees, his hair as black as a raven, his light skin reddened as the sun shown and his smile was a picture of perfection. Destin was only 16 but still our military considered him a child until he was a year older. Not only was he somewhat scrawny but I felt as though if I even gave him a sword to hold it'd cause his arm to fall off. Yet, you could see the look of a fighter in his eyes and the essence of a hero in his heart. He seemed born for great things. Something in his voice as he said, "The village is lost isn't it? I understand, there is no need to make things sweeter than they are." created a sense of leadership and ablitlity to move on in petty situations. But what of the girl?

She still slept with her hands upon her heart as if to be sheilding it from evil. Her chest slowly rising and falling back, the long brown hair glistened in the morning shades, her eyes were as beautiful as Destins' the night before, her tanned skin seemed rather pale with her lips as red as the dawn that rose above the mountain ridge. Her name? I did not know at the moment. She never once spoke. Destin watched over her as if she were his sister, yet the two had been best friends since childhood. My guess was that she may have been only a year to two years younger. But there was never a moment that Destin wasn't by her side.

"Aeva?" Destin called. "That is your name, correct madam?"
"Yes, little one. You are the one they call Destin? I've heard stories that you are the only son of Duke Alengrad. I'm sorry to hear of his passing." I replied.
"Father, he was the protector of our village. Now Greslan is no more. I must carry on in his footsteps. Leave not one of your people behind, always protect what's important to you and never let your emotions control your judgment. Father always said that everytime life became hard. All I have left of my village is Aika (aye-cah). I will protect her with my life."
"Your father was a good man. He helped my family across the borders of Staphrem into the kingdom of Maldenrah. I never forgot his kindness. What of Aika?"
"Aika? Well she came from another town. She doesn't remember it, considering she was only a baby when she arrived in Greslan. But we've been best friends ever since. Now we're all we have left. But tell me something, why was our village attacked? Why did you save aika and me last night.? You could've let us die. We're not worth anything to this world."
"Destin...you and Aika are both important! Every being on this earth has a purpose. I saved you both because you were defensless and I couldn't just let innocent blood be spilt anymore. Don't you ever-" as I was in the middle of my sentence, a boulder fell from the cliff above. It hurdled down at a massive speed. Seconds before it reached us I dove for Destin and Aika. The sharp pain in my spine sent excruciating pains back through my body. The boulder came within inches of our heads. Aika awoke screaming and hid behind Destin. My heart pounded so fast that it became hard to breathe.
"Aeva Evangale! You foolish little imbicile! Your captain and your petty army has fallen. General of the 7th calvary, Aeva come out! Or your annoying pest of a lieutenant will suffer a slow death." called a voice.
    "A-aeva don't listen t-to him! Ru..run..." Johann's voice trailed off.
    "Johann!!!!!"
