    SasuxNaru one-shot--(fluff,omg!)

    --
Sumary~x~x~x~ It’s our little blonde knucklehead's birthday, and Sasuke is crushing on Naruto (would we have it any other way?) While Naruto is feeling the same way. Sasuke is the only one who hasn't given Naruto a present, but his gift will be the best Naruto's ever gotten.

    (On with the story ^ ~ ^)

'No,' Sasuke told himself for the 12th time. 'You're not gay. You don't love Uzumaki Naruto.' But glancing at the blonde next to him, he had to think a bit differently.

Naruto was very short for his age, even shorter than Sakura. He was slim but muscular, and had a big mouth and a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. He had golden hair and bright blue eyes, sun kissed skin always hidden under that stupid orange jumpsuit, and a big, silly pearly white grin.

'I love him...No, I don't! Or do I? AH!' Sasuke put his head in his hands to try and clear his mind. This was so ******** cliché; he was in ******** denial about his feelings. Fighting with himself on a daily basis about his attraction to the blonde. 'No, you're not attracted to him!'

    "Sasuke-kun?"

Sasuke ignored the voice of his most tolerable fan girl, Sakura, and continued to glare at his knees.

    "Genki desu ka, Sasuke-kun?"

This time Sasuke looked up, as that voice belonged to the subject of his interest. Worried blue eyes met Sasuke's ebony ones and the blonde's forehead creased with concern.

"Un." the raven haired boy said, letting his head fall back into his outstretched palms.

"You sure?" this time it was Kakashi that spoke, but Sasuke still kept his head down.

"Just a headache," he lied. If a headache had a name, its name would be Naruto. Day after day the thought about him, night after night he dreamed about him, and yet he still found a way to make it seem like he still hated him.

"Well, perk up, Sasuke-teme! I won't have you emo-ing up the place on myyyy birthday!"

That got his attention. He hadn't exactly forgotten about Naruto’s birthday being today, (dobe had announced it 27 times before lunch) but he had somehow pushed it to the back of his mind all that day. Now a small fear filled his chest, the same fear he had yesterday when trying to find him a present. He still hadn't given the gift to him, he was saving it for a special time, but now he just wanted to throw it away...If that was possible, anyway.

    "Okay,” was all he said.

The table was silent for a while, aside from Naruto's off key humming of "happy birthday" and the occasional crinkle of a turning page from Kakashi's book, for which Sasuke was glad. The quieter the better, for his non existent headache.

The waitress came along after a few more minutes, and they all ordered, subtracting Kakashi, who left money so they could pay and disappeared, leaving the three alone.

"So, Sasuke-kun..." Sakura said, sitting on her knees and leaning onto the table top. "If your headache goes away, would you like to go on a date with me after this?"

"Aahh, Sakura-chaaaaan! Why don't you ever ask me that?!" Naruto whined.

"Because you're too childish!" She retorted, which made Naruto puff up his cheeks and turn away from his friends. "But anyway, Sasuke-kun..."

    "No thanks, Sakura-chan."

Sasuke surprised even himself with that one. Way to nice. A hint of regret in his voice (not that he'd ever regret turning her down). He guessed the others were just as surprised, as they stared at him in mild shock. But as soon as the blonde's azure eyes turned to him, they turned away and that big, goofy grin began to stretch across that perfect, soft lipped mouth (Sasuke mentally slapped himself for that).

"Oi!" he called to the boy across the restaurant. "Gaara-kun! Allo!"

Sasuke glanced at the red head that turned to them and did a little movement with his hand - Sasuke guessed this was Gaara's version of a wave. Gaara turned to tall, blonde Temari and short but still hot Kankurou and said a few things; then began to walk towards them.

“Happy birthday," he said to the boy across form them as the sat down by Sakura.

    "Thanks. Where's my present?"

Gaara laughed - a creepy monotone, stern kind of laugh. Naruto laughed to, but his was like a child's giggle.

"Does a-" Gaara stopped to flip his hand around. Now a piece of colorful paper sat between his first and second finger. Sasuke could make out the words "FRE", "LIF" "SUP" and "RAM". ‘What the ********?'

The red head continued. "-coupon for a lifetime supply of ramen count?"

Naruto snatched the coupon away from him. "Oh, my God, Gaara! Thanks!"

Sasuke inwardly 'humphed', as many Uchiha did when something is to their displeasure. He could have thought of that, and be like everyone else. But it was so simple and expected. Sasuke's gift to the blonde was way better than a million cups of ramen. Make it 83 million cups if it had to last the rest of Naruto's life.

Naruto reached across the table to shoulder-hug the red head, and Sasuke felt a pang of jealous panic. Would his present make Naruto feel compelled to hug him? (Would Sasuke hug back?) Or would Naruto completely hate it? It wasn't something he could really cherish or throw away, but would he hate a few words? Unspoken words, in this case.

The waitress came back with their food and bill, then left them to their eating. Gaara and Naruto argued over the dish the blonde got (Naruto wished to share with his fellow jinchuriki, Gaara insisted the birthday boy should enjoy his meal). Sakura tried to make light conversation with Sasuke, but he only ever answered with his usual grunt, and soon the poor girl gave up and focused on the soup in front of her.

Sasuke's rice was just a bit to chewy for his taste, so after a few mouthfuls he pushed the small bowl away an requested entrance to the blonde's mouth. (Just kidding!) "Can I get out?" he asked, and the blonde moved out to let him through. Sasuke escaped the confinements of the small booth, headed to the men’s room, and finally entered a stall in the white and blue tiled room. Not that he had to go or anything, he just wanted to be rid of the blonde at least for a little while.

"What’s your problem?" half of Sasuke asked. "Do you really think you love him? That stupid little s**t?"

The other side of the Uchiha retorted to that sentence. "You must love him. You don't feel that way with anyone else. "

Sasuke almost expected two mini hims dressed as an angel and devil to pop up on his shoulders and have a little gay-vs.-strait battle. Now the side of of him we all hate kicked in again. "He's annoying. A loser. He's pathetic! A dobe! You’re...not. How could you love him, Sasuke?!"

    "Because you do."

The silence in the room matched the silence in Sasuke's mind. Often when he was thinking of Naruto he'd just stop thinking completely. Although he had had this good-vs.-evil mind argument before, his "evil" side never had a comeback for that one. One would think he'd have an answer for it now, but no. He felt his shoulder make contact with the cold metal wall of the stall and his tired, thought filled head fell onto his collar bone. "Just...rest my eyes..." he said quietly as his lids dropped to half mast. He would have fallen asleep if not for the huge crash that broke the silence as the door was opened.

    "Sasuke-teme?"

So of course it was Naruto.

Sasuke mumbled a curse and flushed the toilet to make it seem he had come to the rest room for that reason. He opened the door and nodded to the blonde as he crossed to the sink to wash his hands. "What do you want, do-" he bit his tongue to keep himself from saying the dreaded 'D' word.

Naruto raised an eyebrow at his unfinished sentence, but soon shrugged it off and turned to the automatic paper towel dispenser. "Sakura-chan's finished her dinner so she left and Gaara went back to his table. That just leaves you and I'm soooo not done annoying the hell out of you yet." he explained in one breath. He moved his hand under the movement censor and a paper towel protruded from the bottom.

"Do your worst." Sasuke took the towel and dried his hands. The two made their way back to the table, where three onigiri magically appeared while they were gone. They sat on a small rectangular plate, and a small card stuck out from under said plate. Naruto took the card and read it out loud.

"Happy birthday, knucklehead. Make sure you don't eat all these onigiri. There's one for each of you. If you have to, shove one down Sasuke's throat. Kakashi-sensei."

Sasuke grabbed the card and read what it said. "It doesn't say that!" he said, as Naruto reached for the rice treat and started nibbling on it as he sat. Sasuke did the same, subtracting the nibbling cutely on the onigiri part.

"Well, it should, you eat nothing but rice and tomatoes." He continued to eat until he was on the second one, when he asked, "Don't you want one, Sasuke-teme?"

Sasuke had been concentrating on his screwed up emotions while staring at a poorly drawn cake on the card, but now he looked up from the card and almost 'aww'ed. Rice from the onigiri sat at the corners of Naruto's mouth, dwelled on his top and bottom lip and even reached up to the bottoms of his scarred cheeks. His eyes opened and closed as he blinked hiding then revealing their amazing cerulean gaze.

Sasuke smiled an almost non existent smile. He reached across the table and wiped the rice from Naruto's mouth. "Nah, I'm good," he said, bringing his rice covered fingers to his mouth and licking them.

Naruto's face turned red, but he continued to munch on the onigiri until all three were gone. Then they paid with the money their lazy sensei gave them and -after Naruto back-glomped Gaara- left the restaurant.

They were a block away from the building before either of them spoke. Looking the opposite way they were going, Sasuke asked, "Naruto-kun, don't you live that way?"

Naruto quickly looked back to the direction Sasuke indicated and turned around. "Oh, yeah," he giggled. "I guess I do." He started walking, with Sasuke staring after him. "Ja ne, Sasuke-teme!"

Sasuke smirked in Naruto's general direction. "Later, Naruto-kun."

Then Naruto stopped. And he turned around. And he looked at Sasuke. And said, "What did you call me?"

"I called you Naruto-kun," said Sasuke.

Naruto nodded and started walking back towards his stone faced friend. Sasuke would've taken a cautious step back if not for that big, goofy grin on the blonde's face. His face now wore a playful smirk instead of the near permanent scowl.

"In fact..." Naruto stopped walking when he was toe to toe with Sasuke and planted his hands on his hips. "You've been calling me 'Naruto-kun' all day. You haven't once called me 'dobe' or 'usurantonkachi' or 'baka' or '-chan' or anything! Just 'Naruto-kun' alll fricken day!"

    Sauke smiled. "Happy birthday, Naruto-kun."

Naruto's brow creased in minor confusion and his mouth twitched in an unclear manner. Sasuke smiled even bigger.

"You know how I'm the only one who hasn't given you a present today?"

Naruto huffed out a breath. "Yeah."

"Well, that’s my present to you. Not calling you any names but your own."

The blonde's face turned even redder than the onigiri incident and he began to fumble with his hands. He shifted his weight from foot to foot as he stared at them. He was going to say thanks, if not for the fact Sasuke's hand found his chin before he could and angled his head up. He then bent his neck and brushed his lips gently over the younger boy's.

Naruto jumped back from shock and slapped a hand over his mouth as his face went even redder. Sasuke not so calmly touched his own mouth, as he too was shocked by his inappropriate actions.

"Sa...Sasuke?!" the blonde gasped in surprise.

The raven haired boy pawed the ground with the toe of his sandal. "Sorry," he muttered into his shirt while his hands hid in his pockets. "I...didn't mean to do that. Just forget it even happened." He turned on his heal and headed down the road without another word to the blonde.

(Sudden change to Naruto biggrin )

Naruto watched the blue and white clad figure walking away from him and bit his bottom lip. He wanted to call out to him and run to him and stop him and tell him how he really felt, but his voice stuck in his throat and his feet felt like iron, and his legs were lead. He just stood there, blushing and staring at his retreating friend. Tears pooled on his bottom lashes and he closed his eyes to shove them away.

    He gulped. "Sas...uke..?"

The raven stopped and barely turned to face him. Naruto felt his ebony stare on him, and he suddenly felt nervous. "What if...What if I don't want to forget it happened?" Sasuke's eyes grew in size. Naruto took an uneasy step forward, then an embarrassed step back. "I....I think I love you, Sasuke-teme..."

The Uchiha turned fully around to stare at the blonde. "You think you love me?"

Naruto nodded and bowed his head. "Yeah...I know you must get that all the time from girls and stuff, but I really think I do... It's weird, but when you almost died for me..." Tears formed in his eyes again at the memory of Sasuke on the ground with a thousand or so senbon needles sticking out of his neck and body. He had blocked that memory out for along time, but now.... He outwardly sobbed.

Sasuke started walking towards him. He couldn't really see his expression, for his bangs hung in his eyes and his way to high collar covered his stern mouth. But soon they were toe to toe again, and Naruto braced himself for a beating, closing his eyes and flinching back.

"Naruto..." the raven said, sounding relatively happy, and just as nervous as Naruto felt. He opened one eye, then the other. "I think I love you too..."

The blonde smiled up at his friend, a strong blush crawling up his neck and reaching across his face. His hands found Sasuke's and their fingers intertwined and weaved with the others.

    "Naruto-kun...can I kiss you?"

Naruto's hands left Sasuke's to pull the raven's collar and bring his closer. "What do you think?"

Sasuke's lips were a smirk before they were covering Naruto's. The kiss was slow and gentle, cautious and careful, and after all the gentleness, Naruto felt Sasuke's mouth give way and his tongue slip between his lips. He moaned and opened his mouth more so Sasuke could have better access and the raven moaned an approval. His tongue ventured around the blonde's wet mouth and visited each and every corner and cavern. The younger boy moaned when his tongue finally reached his own and coaxed it up to play with his. The two muscles turned and twisted and coiled up and sprang while the two boys clawed at each other and made needy, desperate sounds.

Sasuke's tongue pulled back into his own mouth as he pulled away slowly as to not surprise Naruto. They somehow managed to catch their breath as they looked at each other and breathed each other's air. Their foreheads met and their hands locked together again. Sasuke smiled.

"I love you, Naruto-kun..." he said.

Naruto grimaced. "Ugh, there’s that 'Naruto-kun' again... Common! Call me dobe!"

"And take back my present? I don't think so."

Naruto pulled away enough so only their hands held. "This nice Sasuke is scaring me!" he whined. "Bring back my teme!"

    "You dobe..."

Naruto smiled and went back to standing toe to toe with his friend. "Thank you."

"Happy birthday, usurantonkachi," Sasuke whispered, pressing a kiss to the blonde's forehead.

"Now I think that's going a bit too far, teme..."
