• Bella…… heart

    This is definitely a dream…
I tried to convince myself that she was nothing more than a figment of my imagination, but as much as I didn’t want to admit it, she was me—in a sense. I closed my eyes, hoping that when I reopened them she’d disappear.
Go away, go away, go away! I shut my eyes even tighter, my heart fluttering in anticipation. I was afraid to look. Unwillingly, I peeked through my chocolaty eyelashes. Nope, it didn’t work. There she was, standing at the end of the pier on the sandy beach. Her silky, light, ebony curls swayed in the wind as her hand, reached out for mine, beckoning me to come closer. I hesitated for a moment, inspecting the setting around me. I was standing on the other end of the pier, underneath a blanket of stars in the nighttime sky, facing—well—me.
In no doubt were we different. Her beautiful hair flowed down to her waist while mine was short, spiky and terribly unruly; she was a bit shorted than me, too; but besides those small things, she was me. I heard a sudden, creaking noise before I realized the definite difference between us. Her gaze shifted slightly, her eyes sparkling brightly. A tentative smile spread across her dainty, pixie face. That, I thought, was it. When was the last time I had truly smiled?
I turned to observe what she was staring at. Then it hit me. My entire body froze as I saw Lukas, leaning against the railing only a few feet away from me. My breathing accelerated, memories flooding into my mind. The moonlight shimmering against his face made his eyes glimmer a pure silver. Within seconds, he pushed himself forward, cantering towards us.
A pleased expression sailed across his face when he grabbed her hand—the one I had thought was meant for me. I inched closer until I had finally reached the middle of the pier before I could hear their hushed whispers.
“Bella, this could be the hardest thing we’ll ever do,” He warned her before bringing his freehand, clenched into a fist, between them. “Isabella Rae Kielle”
Suddenly my heart stopped, my throat went dry, and I couldn’t breathe. I knew what I was witnessing. I felt my heart breaking as he continued on: “I love you more than anything…”
I couldn’t watch, knowing what was coming next. I clenched my stomach, knots forming, as I saw him unfold his balled up fist. His next words pierced my heart: “Will you marry me?”
Tears streamed down my cheeks as she nodded her head in utter astonishment. His smile widened as ever so slowly, he leaned in to kiss her.
No…NO! I turned away from them, running toward the end of the pier. More than anything I wished to wake up. Tears fogged my vision as I sped up, heading toward the water.
“Bella, stop!” I heard Lukas scream, but it was too late. Feet first, I plunged into the waves. It took merely a second for me to realize what was going on after that: they had been a dream, but the icy depths were real.
