• The pitter patter of footsteps echoed through the dark pathways that was Mellowbrook's park, more specifically, their old abandoned playground. A group of sorority kids had come to initiate their newest member into the sorority.

"Come on Steph! You got to do this!" Cried on of the sorority members, but their new comrade would not budge. Average in height with mocha eyes, and curly light brunette hair, Steph was a sweet looking boy. But a bit stupid for trying to do one of the most idiotic things: initiation.

"If you do this Steph, maybe Even might notice you!" Blurted out a female member. Steph quickly turned at her with suprised, gleamimg eyes. Even was his older brother, who never paid attention to him. The older brother who was more popular than him. Could this attract his brother's attention? Possibly.

So with that, Steph was now stuck on the swings of the abandoned, old, and rotting playground.

He slowly swang up and swang down on the tried swings, but then had stopped once upon hearing the noises of static....Static?....That was not possible!

    Drnnn Deeennn Drnnn.....Dndndndn......

He slowly got off the swings and looked around the playground. Nothing was there.

He then turned his head like a deer caught in headlights when he heard the crunching of footsteps, very fast footsteps. Someone must be running or something....

He heard giggles, and chuckles as the world soon started to whirl around him.

    Drrnnnn Deeeennn Drnnnn...Dndndndn......

    Deeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnn.

The swirling stopped. The laughs stopped. The static had also, like the aforementioned, stopped.

But all that calmness was soon replaced when he heard the blaring of a siren.

    DOOOOOOONNNNNDOOOOOONNNNNDOOOOONNNNN.

It continued to go on and on. He covered his ears with both his hands and his face turned into a grimace with a slight hint of annoyance. Why was there a siren playing when there was no need for said thing to even be playing?!

He turned around and slowly started to walk, trying to keep his fear to himself when he saw the swings rocking back and forth. The merry go round was spinning on it's own accord.

He removed his hands and broke into a wild, frenzied sprint. That's when the shadows came back. Their giggles and laughs still as dark as ever.

He could see the figures of boys and girls, even a few teenagers. They had no face, no eyes, no nothing to identify them with. He could only barely register the wide grinning, pearly whites of mouths. The shapes of ears, hair, and some small minor things were what else he could comprehend.

He continued to sprint away and all the noises stopped again once he reached the border of the playground. He turned around and immediately felt himself go pale. All the shadow children were there. Each sporting a different sort of pose, some where standing upright, others was crouched down, looking like they were about to pounce. Others were shyly looking down, and a few were crossing their arms, or had their hands on their hips. They all still though sported that eerie grin of pearls that made him feel deathly cold. They vanished, one by one, in puffs of black smoke/mist. He watched them all go away.

Should he try and go back?

    . . .

    Nawh.

He was going to turn around, when something covered his mouth and a loud, shrill scream erupted from the Playground.

The next day the Sorority came back to find Steph's dead body, drained off all color, but with his eyes closed and his mouth contorted with the same eerie grin that all the other children bare.

Remember children, you should always have company when going somewhere at night.

Nobody wants to meet their shadow~
