• “Abed! Abed!” a mother monkey howled and hooted for her son who was sound asleep on a branch in the endless rainforest they called home. Abed yawned. “What does she want now?” He thought. Abed slowly stretched his weary limbs and began to climb down the tree. Abed galloped to his mother where she sat, he looked at her crossly.
“Really? You had to wake up the whole rainforest just to get me to come down here to groom you?” He said.
“Well it’s a large Rainforest Abed. And I didn’t feel like looking for you.”
“You don’t even know,” Abed said as he rolled his eyes.
“Whatever honey, just come here and groom me.” His mother said to him without a second thought.
“Not now mom, I have somewhere to go today.” Abed walked off, leaving his mother screeching for him to come back.
“Now where should I go today?” Abed thought with a grin, thinking of what kind of mischief could be plotted. “First a stop at Clarice’s to see if she wants to come along.”
When he got to the small hut, he could smell something cooking over the fire, reminding him of the many scents he had experienced when he had ventured to the very edge of the rainforest.
“Clarice!” he called, “Come out! I want you to come play with me today!”
“Coming Abed! Just one minute!” Clarice called from inside of the hut where she and her master lived.
“Hurry up!!! We have things to do today!” he yelled back.
She trotted lazily out of the hut, smirking as if she had done something funny. Even though she was the tiniest monkey in the world she was gorgeous. With her shiny gray fur and striped tail; it had been love at first sight.

“Come on Abed! You wanted to go did you not?” she had caught him staring at her, and he was struggling for an explanation.
“Oh! Uh, yes Clarice, let’s go.” He said.
They began to walk a distance from her hut, reaching their favorite spot in the forest, for its many different paths.
“Which path today Clarice?” he asked.
“How about the overgrown green path we’ve never been on?” she suggested.
“Whatever you say Clarice, you are the boss.” He replied humorously.
They began to walk along the long winding path, wondering where it would lead them.
