• I stumbled across this end-game event in Pokemon Black that I thought was pretty interesting. After you beat the game, find all six sages, and talk to the Shadow Triad on the Marvelous Bridge, go to Striaton City at about 9:00 p.m. Looker will be waiting for you outside of the gym. Talk to him and he'll tell you that he thinks Cilan, Cress, and Chili are the Shadow Triad, and he wants you to search their rooms for evidence.

I'll save you some trouble by just telling you where their room is. Go to the gym and examine the middle brown panel on the back wall. You'll find out that it's a hidden door. SAVE BEFORE YOU ENTER! There are a lot of ways you could render this side-quest unwinnable, and you don't want to find out the hard way that the last time you saved was just before you fought Ghetsis.

The Striaton trio's house is shaped sort of like a sideways L. The kitchen is on the right side. DO NOT EXAMINE THE PANTRY! There is a very high chance that you will break a bottle of Worcestershire sauce and wake up Cilan. If that happens, he'll kick you out of the gym for good, and you won't be able to finish this side-quest. There is really nothing of interest in the kitchen anyway.

On the left side is the bathroom. I didn't really check anything in here, but if you examine the shower once, then you end up breaking the shower head. If you examine it again, you prove that you are too dumb to live and turn it on. Just to be on the safe side, DO NOT EXAMINE THE SHOWER! Chili wakes up and begins knocking on the door. You get kicked out as soon as you leave the room.

Directly across from the entrance is the bedroom. DO NOT EXAMINE THE TV! If you do, then all three of them will wake up and of course, kick you out. Examining their beds is probably an equally stupid move. Instead, check the dresser to get the Shadow Uniform. After you do so, Cress will wake up. He'll demand to know what you are doing in his room, and then he'll notice what you're holding. After a minor breakdown, he challenges you to a battle.

    Cress' Team

    Cincinno Lvl 60
    Seismitoad Lvl 63
    Alomomola Lvl 65
    Jellicent Lvl 62

This battle is pretty easy, especially if you have an electric, grass, or fighting type on your team. Afterwards, Cilan and Chili wake up and start talking about how they'll avenge their brother's loss, but before they can battle you, Looker runs in and arrests all of them. He thanks you for your help and gives you a Star piece.
If, however, you lose, then you are treated to a short scene where Cress is looking at your character's drowned corpse and having a pretty big breakdown. He wakes up his brothers and asks them what to do with the body. You have to reset afterwards, although luckily it's just back to your last save. This scene creeped me out a bit. I didn't think I'd ever find a death scene in a Pokemon game.

I found a few other ways to end this side-quest. If you check the bathroom again, you'll find a hamper with another Shadow Uniform in it. If you are holding it while you examine the pantry, then you will have to fight Cilan. Unlike Cress, Cilan notices that you are holding the Shadow Uniform immediately.
He tells you that he cannot allow you to leave, and then he fights you.

    Cilan's Team

    Stoutland Lvl 64
    Simisage Lvl 68
    Cinccino Lvl 60
    Whimsicott Lvl 63
    Lilligant Lvl 65
    Sawsbuck Lvl 62

Be careful, as a lot of Cilan's pokemon can inflict at least one status effect on you. Other than that, Cilan is about as easy to defeat as Cress, as long as you have a fire, ice, poison, flying, bug, or fighting type on your team. If you win, then Cress and Chili walk in and help Cilan up, and once again they go to battle you but are cut off by Looker walking in to arrest them.
If you lose, then you get a scene where Cilan stares at your leech-seeded body for a second, and then calmly cleans it up. I found this even more disturbing than when you lose to Cress. At least Cress is like "Oh my God! I just killed somebody! What do I do?" Cilan is just like "It's cleaning time now."

If you examine the shower twice while holding the Shadow Uniform, then you wake Chili up, and as soon as you leave the bathroom, he starts walking you towards the exit. He gets halfway there when he notices that you're holding the Shadow Uniform. He then asks how you got it, and begins muttering to himself. After a few minutes of this, he battles you.

    Chili's team

    Stoutland Lvl 64
    Simisear Lvl 68
    Cinccino Lvl 60
    Darmanitan Lvl 63
    Emboar Lvl 65
    Chandelure Lvl 62

If you have a water, ground, rock, or fighting type on your team, this battle will be easy. He gets pretty mad about losing before the realization that he's probably going to jail hits his brain. After that, he just falls silent. Cilan goes to comfort him, while Cress goes to battle you, but once again, Looker comes in to arrest all of them and give you a Star piece.
If you lose, then you see a scene where Chili looks at your charred body and hopes that you are somehow still alive. He even pours water on you. Cilan and Cress walk in after that. Cilan comforts Chili, telling him that it will all be okay. During this suprisingly nightmare fuel-filled exchange, Cress is dragging your corpse away.

If you examine the TV while holding the Shadow Uniform, then all three of them wake up. After they briefly discuss what to do with you, you have to fight Cilan, Cress, and Chili in a rotation battle.

    Lilligant Lvl 65
    Simipour Lvl 68
    Alomomola Lvl 65
    Simisear Lvl 68
    Emboar Lvl 65

I'm pretty sure you know what types you should use by now. After you defeat them, Cilan is telling the other two that everything will work out, Cress is giving you the glare of death, and Chili is panicking. Looker runs in and arrests all three of them. Instead of a Star piece, you get a Water stone, Fire stone, and a Leaf stone as a reward.
I didn't really feel like checking what happened if you lost this time. That death scene will be added at a later date.

This side-quest isn't all that hard to beat, and it's actually pretty fun. I'm not going to look at the Striaton Trio the same way again, though. Especially not Cilan. That guy's a serious Yangire.
