• CHAPTER 5

Everyone is in Stephanie’s bedroom, and Andrew had already set up everything on Stephanie’s desk. Andrea is sitting on the desk chair, as Peter and Martha are by the wall near the door. Father Nathaniel and Father Sinclair have their bibles out.

“Stephanie, I’m Father Sinclair,” he started, “and this is Father Nathaniel.”

He waves, but Stephanie just stares at him. She had no idea what was going on and why they were there.

“We’re going to ask you a few questions,” Father Nathaniel said, “We need you to answer them with full honesty. Don’t be scared, the reason why we’re here is to be sure that we’re not dealing with something you don’t want to.”

‘I’ve pretty much been doing that all my life’ Stephanie thought to herself. Andrew then turns on the radio, the beeper and starts the detector up. Father Sinclair and Father Nathaniel walk in front of the bed, so Stephanie is looking at them, looking straight. Peter and Martha hold hands tightly.

“Stephanie,”Father Nathaniel began, “the night when you were in the basement and you suddenly passed out, can you tell us what you saw?”

Stephanie looks at her parents, frightened. She didn’t want to tell them what she saw but she was afraid she had no choice. She turns her head to Andrea, and she gave off a nod, reassuring her that it’s okay to tell the priests what she saw.

“I saw…”Stephanie stops for a minute and turns to the side, “I can’t do this…”

“Stephanie, you have to trust us that everything is going to be okay,” Father Nathaniel said, “This will help you and it’ll help us. Just please, answer these questions honestly, and try to be as detailed as possible.”

Stephanie looks at Peter and Martha again. Peter nods his head and says, “Its ok, honey.”

    Pause.

“I…I didn’t see anything. I just passed out.” Stephanie answered.

“Did you hear anything?” Andrew asked.

    Stephanie shakes her head, lying.

Father Sinclair and Nathaniel look at each, and then move on to the next question.

“The night where you ran in for the church, was there anything you saw? Was there anything you heard? Or was there anything that didn’t seem usual at all?”Father Sinclair asked.

Stephanie looks around the room and starts sweating a bit. “I…I saw…” she tried saying, but she couldn’t get the words out for some reason.

“Again, it’s okay to tell us.” Father Nathaniel reassured.

“I saw…”Stephanie drifted off; the words just couldn’t come out.

Andrew looked at his equipment, disappointed that nothing was responding.

    “I don’t think we’re getting anywhere…” he said.

“In the shower not too long ago, did you happen to at least hear or see anything evil?” Father Nathaniel asked, hoping she would answer.

Stephanie starts sweating a bit, and turns to the side. She wasn’t responding and it didn’t seem like she was going to.

    There’s a long pause.

The two priests look in disappointment and look at Peter and Martha.

“Look,”Father Sinclair started, “If Stephanie can’t cooperate with us then there’s really nothing we can possibly do…”

“No, please…”Martha pleaded, walking up to him, “all the doctors, hospitals quit on us. You might be our only hope…”

“We want to help as much as you do,” Father Nathaniel said, “but if she can’t respond to any of these questions, I’m afraid that we’re going to have to call it off.”

Suddenly Stephanie jumps up and screams real loudly, which startles everyone.

“Stephanie!?”Peter exclaimed, rushing to her bedside.

Andrew’s beeper started to beep in a fast-pace.

“It-It’s here, it’s here!” Stephanie exclaimed, frightened, looking all around the room.

“Who’s here?”Father Sinclair asked, “What’s here? What is it doing?”

“Please, make it go away, make it go away!” Stephanie cried. Peter goes and holds Stephanie’s hand tight.

Andrew’s detector starts moving really fast as well. Andrea gets up and goes to Martha, who’s almost in tears.

“What do you see Stephanie, what do you see?!” Father Nathaniel shouted.

“It keeps saying he’s after me!” Stephanie cries, “It keeps saying he wants me!!”

Andrew’s beeper and detector starts speeding up very fast. Martha is in tears as Andrea is watching in complete shock.

“Who’s coming after you!?” Father Nathaniel shouted.

Suddenly a strong force pins Stephanie to the bed and she cries. “It’s starting to come through my skin! It’s coming through my skin, please make it go away!!”

Stephanie tries tugging her skin, as if she was keeping something from entering in her body.

Father Sinclair and Nathaniel grab their crucifixes and start saying a prayer.

“Can you get up, Stephanie?!” Peter exclaimed.

Stephanie just cries more and she rises and sits up screaming, then pukes blood all over the bed.

    “Oh my God…!”Martha exclaimed.

Andrew’s beeper starts beeping incredibly fast as the detector is moving very fast as well, at an incredible speed. Andrew is looking at his equipment in shock, as if he’s never seen anything this strong before.

Suddenly Stephanie lets out a loud screech and yells. Martha and Andrea cover their ears because of how loud the screech was.

“Fallen Angel of Hell,” Father Sinclair began, “I demand you to leave this innocent girl at one peace, now!”

Stephanie lets out another screech, even louder as the detector suddenly blows out and breaks. Andrew backs up against the wall.

Father Nathaniel goes up to Stephanie, holds his hand on her forehead with the crucifix in front of her.

“I command you to leave this innocent girl at one peace, by the power of the Lord, I command you to leave this girl’s body once and for all!” He yelled.

Martha is sobbing, near the wall as Andrea is hugging her close, extremely tight. Peter is holding onto Stephanie’s hand tighter, not letting her go no matter what happened.

Stephanie is then pinned back down on the bed, “Mom!! Help me, help me!!”Stephanie cried out, as she’s moving all around.

“By the power of the Lord, and Jesus Christ, I command you to leave her spirit be, let her soul be in peace!!” Father Nathaniel yelled.

Suddenly Stephanie’s eyes turn white and she yells even louder. The lightning from outside flashes and a face of a demon appears with the flash, right behind Martha.

    “Peter, back away!”Father Sinclair yelled.

“No, I’m not leaving her side!” Peter yelled back.

Suddenly Stephanie pushes Peter to the wall, screeching and he hits his back extremely hard against the wall, as pictures fall down.

“Peter!”Martha yells and runs toward him, kneeling beside him.

Stephanie is pinned back down on the bed, screaming, “Help me! Help me!!!”

Father Nathaniel puts the crucifix in front of Stephanie’s face again and yells, “Evil unworthy Demon, I command you to leave at once! Leave NOW!”

He then softly stabs Stephanie with the crucifix on her shoulder. Stephanie screeches extremely loudly as blood pours from her mouth and eyes. She then flops down on her bed, crying softly.

The beeper stops beeping and everything stops moving.

There’s a long pause and everyone looks at each other.

Everyone is back downstairs, in the living room. Both priests are thinking very hard about the situation. Martha and Peter are standing near the wall, and Andrew and Andrea are sitting on the other couch, slowly taking in what just happened.

    There’s a very long pause.

“That’s one of the strongest spirits I’ve ever witnessed in my life…” Andrew said, looking down, frightened, “The machine I had was built so it was impossible for anything that strong to break it…”

Peter and Martha look at each other.

“And you said…that machine was to detect how evil the spirit was?” Martha asked.

Andrew slowly nodded his head, still in complete shock. Peter thought that if the machine had broken, whatever what was in the room with them, must’ve been something extremely evil.

“You’re saying that’s the strongest spirit you’ve ever witnessed?” Father Sinclair asked. Everyone looks at him and Andrew nods.

“What happened upstairs, was THE strongest, the most evil thing I have ever witnessed as being a priest.” Father Sinclair stated, “the worst part is, what we witnessed up there, wasn’t the Devil…it was a demon, sent out to catch Stephanie.”

“Did you ban the demon, Father?” Andrea asked.

“I did,”Father Nathaniel answered, “but however, I can’t guarantee that another demon will come after her-or worse…the Devil himself.”

Martha covers her mouth and walks out the living room. She couldn’t listen to anymore.

“Martha…”Andrea called out. She gets up and goes after her.

Martha’s soft weep is heard from the kitchen and they hear Andrea trying to calm her down.

“Father,”Peter asked,“How did you know it was just a demon and not—“

“Have you read the books?” Father Nathaniel interrupted.

    Peter shook his head.

“The books…”Father Nathaniel repeated, “The books told us what the Devil can do. The Holy Bible—tells us what he can do…and once you see what he can do, you’re going to wish you’ve never lived.”

“Why is that?”Peter asked, leaning forward a bit.

“The Devil will taunt you in your dreams…when you’re awake…when you’re doing the simplest things; even breathing,” Father Sinclair said, “If the Devil wants something he will go to extreme measures to get it. The only person who can stop him is the Lord himself.”

Peter shook his head. “Well…what are the extreme measures? What should we be aware of?”

Both Fathers look at each other, and then turn their heads to Peter.

“Best if we never find out,” Father Nathaniel answered, “Right now we need to focus on banning any demon that comes in Stephanie’s way.”

Peter nods, accepting on how bad this whole thing can get.

In the kitchen, Martha is collecting herself by holding back her tears.

“I don’t think I can do this…” Martha said softly. Andrea was very shocked to hear that; that’s something she would’ve never thought she would hear Martha say.

“Yes you can, Martha,” Andrea said, “Don’t be strong not only for yourself…but for your family…”

Martha grabs a tissue and softly blows her nose, letting out a sigh.

“Be strong for Stephanie…what would her brother do?” Andrea added. Martha then paused and thought for a minute.

“I’m going to go change her sheets…” Martha said, walking away from her. Andrea didn’t bother to chase after her, she just watched as Martha walked away.

She then walks back in the living room where everyone else is.

“She’s taking it real hard…” Andrea said.

“I’m sure…it’s not an easy thing to take in.” Father Nathaniel said.

“So…what are we going to do now?” Andrew asked, with the broken machine in his arms. He couldn’t get over how strong the detector was acting.

“Well…with Peter and Martha’s permission,” Father Sinclair started, “I would like to perform…and actual exorcism on Stephanie, in this living room.”

“Why in the living room?” Peter asked.

“If we’re in the bedroom with Stephanie, it could be dangerous. We would need more space; especially if all of us want to be there for her.” Father Sinclair answered.

Peter nods his head and gets up from the couch.

“I’ll get Martha.”Peter said, walking away.

Andrew puts the machine to the floor, gets up and walks to Andrea. “We need to talk…” He said, pulling her to the side.

They both walk into the kitchen, as both Fathers watch them leave.

    “I don’t know about this…” Andrew said.

“What? What don’t you know about?” Andrea asked, knowing where this was going.

“Andrea, this whole thing is just crazy!” Andrew said, “My equipment broke, people are breaking down, there’s TWO priests trying to exorcise a girl? What the hell is this?”

There’s a long pause and Andrea takes a deep breath.

“Look,”she started,“I think everyone here is just as confused as you, I don’t know what happened in that room, BUT this could be our only hope.”

“Only hope for what?” Andrew snapped, “What are they even hoping for?”

“You saw what happened!” Andrea said, “Your little detector thing even broke, don’t you do this for a living? Find and capture spirits? I thought this would rather excite you in a way.”

“I can’t find or capture anything now that my detector is TRASH!” Andrew snapped again.

“Where is this even going? Why are you talking about this?” Andrea asked, wanting to get the conversation over with.

“This whole thing you have me doing…is too much,” Andrew admitted, “I don’t think I can stay here.”

“Wow…”Andrea said in disappointment, “I’ll tell you what, if you can’t handle this, then you can just leave. No one is going to get mad.”

Andrew looks at Andrea and just stands there, not moving.

    “Well?”Andrea said.

“How could you even stay here and how can—“

“Andrew, if you want to leave then leave,” Andrea interrupted, “I look after Stephanie because she was there for me when—“Andrea stopped herself from going too deep into how she felt the day Brandon died. There’s a pause. “You know why…” Andrea continued. Peter then walks into Andrea and Andrew in the kitchen, and they both look at him.

“Is…everything okay?”Peter asked, stopping in his footsteps.

“Yeah…everything is okay,”Andrea said, “It’s just a lot to bear at once.”

“Yeah, I know”Peter admitted, “I’m sorry about your equipment,” Peter apologized, turning his head to Andrew.

“It’s okay,”Andrew said, letting out a sigh, “All of those are replaceable anyway.”

“But very expensive,”Peter joked, letting out a short chuckle.

    Andrew nods, forcing a smile.

“So when do the priests want to start?” Andrea asked.

“Soon,”Peter answered,“Martha and both Fathers are getting her from her room right now.”

“This all seems so unreal,” Andrew said, “I mean yeah ghosts are real but…something as evil as this?”

“I know,”Peter said, “We can’t lose hope though, to be real honest with you guys, when this is all over, I could really care less on to what was happening…I just want it to be over.”

    Andrew and Andrea nod.

“Peter…do you think anyone should know about this?” Andrea asked, “Like the state-or the town-or the police department? Do you think anyone should know?”

“I think it’s a bad idea to be honest.” Peter answered.

“Why?”Andrew asked, taking a seat on one of the stools next to the island.

“Do you know what would happen if everyone or if anyone found out?” Peter said,“It would be all over the media, newspapers, they might even send paparazzi to come and spy on us and take pictures of Stephanie when she could be doing just the simplest things-like walking on the sidewalk or driving to school one day. What Stephanie has been through, that’s really the last thing she needs.”
Andrea nods, understanding what he’s saying.

“Do you think anyone ever will find out?” Andrew asked.

“I hope not…”Peter said, under his breath, “best to just keep this a secret until this all comes to an end.”

Martha comes in the kitchen, and everyone turns their head to her.

    “We’re ready.”Martha said.

    “Are you…ok?”Andrea asked.

“Yeah…it’s just hard, but I’m okay.” Martha said, forcing a smile, trying to stay strong. At this point, that’s all she really could do.

They all walk into the living room, where they see Stephanie sitting on the couch. Father Sinclair and Father Nathaniel are preparing, they both each say a prayer and does the sign of the cross with their hands.

Andrea and Andrew stand near the wall as Martha stands next to the couch Stephanie is on. Peter goes near Stephanie and kisses her head.

“It’s going to be ok…” Peter comforted, “This is going to be over very soon.”

“Dad…I’m so scared,”Stephanie cried softly, looking at him. Peter had never seen Stephanie so broken down before. He then leans down and goes to her ear.

“You can do this honey, just stay strong…you’re doing good.” He whispered,“Like I said, you have your Mother’s strength. Don’t give up.”

Peter rises and sees that Father Sinclair and Nathaniel are ready to start.

“We’re ready when you are.” Father Nathaniel said. Peter looks at Stephanie, nodding. Stephanie sheds a few more tears as Peter walks beside Martha and holds her hand.

Father Nathaniel walks up to Stephanie and does the sign of the cross on her head.

“Stephanie,”Father Sinclair started, “Just to be very sure we are dealing with something evil, all I want to do is ask you a few more questions, can you do that for us?”

Stephanie stares at the priests for a minute, and then turns her head to her parents.

“Stephanie…”Father Sinclair said again, getting her attention, “Please…just so we can get somewhere.”

Stephanie nods slowly, tearing up a bit.

“It’s going to be okay Stephanie…” Andrea said, smiling at her.

Father Nathaniel then stands by Father Sinclair.

“Stephanie,”Father Sinclair started, “In the bedroom…you had mentioned you saw someone…who exactly did you see?”

Stephanie hesitates at first, but then takes a deep breath and begins, “I…I couldn’t tell exactly who he was, but…I remember seeing something evil…I remember seeing fire…”

“You saw fire,”Father Sinclair said, “What was evil that you saw?”

Stephanie starts to cry softly again and says, “A creature…”

    There’s a short pause.

“I saw a creature...with wings.” Stephanie said quietly, “and that creature kept telling me…’He’…wanted me.”

“Who exactly was the creature referring to?” Father Nathaniel asked.

    “I…don’t know.”Stephanie replied.

Both Fathers look at each other and open their bibles. Martha is fighting back tears, watching.

“Was this creature doing anything to you?” Father Sinclair asked.

Stephanie doesn’t say anything. She just cries softly.

“Stephanie…was the creature doing anything to you?” Father Nathaniel asked.

    Stephanie nods slowly.

“Can you tell us what exactly this creature was doing?” Father Sinclair asked.

    “No…”Stephanie said softly.

    “Why not?”Father Nathaniel asked.

She doesn’t respond. Instead, she ignores the question, and wipes the tears from her cheek. Andrea is also holding back tears, as Andrew leans his back against the wall.

“Do you remember screaming? Do you remember anything that happened in the bedroom?”

Stephanie nods slowly and says, “I…I felt like a monster…”

That answer had almost made Peter’s heart stop. Chills went up his spine as Martha rests her head on his shoulder. Andrea covers her mouth.

“Did you see…the Devil at all, Stephanie?” Father Nathaniel asked.

Right when Stephanie is about to answer, she suddenly starts taking deep breathes, a little rapidly.

“S-Stephanie? Are you ok?” Father Sinclair asked.

Suddenly Stephanie starts to roar high pitched, and it started to get louder and louder, moving her head side to side. Father Sinclair tells Peter and Martha to back away. Martha refuses, but Peter urges her to move away a bit. She does so, and they stand near Andrea and Andrew.

Stephanie’s eyes close as she roars more and she opens her eyes. Her eyes had turned a different color and her nails started to grow longer and sharper again. The whole living room started to get cold, as everyone who was breathing, could see their breath.

Father Nathaniel and Father Sinclair now know that Stephanie was no longer with them. Father Nathaniel walks up to Stephanie.

“E-evil s-spirit in Stephanie Lewis…s-speak…your name.” he said, very scared. Stephanie gives off a big smirk.

“Judas…”The words came out her mouth, in a very raspy, evil voice. Martha covers her mouth crying, as everyone’s eyes are widened. Stephanie is giving the priests a very cold and mean stare.

“Evil Spirit, why do you seek to do harm to this girl?” Father Sinclair asked.

Suddenly Stephanie starts screeching and yelling very loud. She screeches so hard; specks of blood come shooting from her mouth. Everyone covers their ears as the lights start blinking on and off.

“E zyyn wyl zaid sa xy balyjyl salsilyk ef Wydd!” (translation: I seek her soul to be forever tortured in Hell!) The words screamed out her mouth. Everyone’s eyes widen as Martha falls to her knees crying. Father Sinclair and Nathaniel are extremely shocked.

“Betrayer of Jesus..!”Father Nathaniel yelled, “By the power of Christ you will leave this innocent girl’s body at once!”

“Swy izydyzz haqyl ab Pwlezs pof fyjyl zojy wyl! (Translation: The useless power of Christ can never save her!) She screamed out, “Swy Odterwsu Kyjed qedd tony wyl zibbyl mizs deny wyl xlaswyl”! (translation: The Almighty Devil will make her suffer just like her brother!)

Peter kneels down with Martha comforting her, looking at Stephanie at the same time. Andrea is crying, with Andrew comforting her as well. Furniture starts shaking and the pictures in the living room fall and the frames break. A picture of Brandon falls and breaks as well. Stephanie lets out a very loud shriek.

Father Nathaniel takes out a small glass bottle of Holy water.

“Evil Spirit, I command you to leave her soul at peace at this very moment!”Father Nathaniel then sprinkles Holy Water onto Stephanie, which makes her screech very loudly. Father Sinclair sprinkles Holy Water on her as well.

“Es xilfz! Es xilfz!” (translation: It burns! It burns!) Stephanie has yelled out, moving around on the couch, yelling.

Martha is sobbing on the floor, and Peter tries helping her up.

“You don’t deserve to have her soul!” Father Nathaniel yelled, “Go back to the fires and pain of Hell where you belong!!” He sprinkles holy water on Stephanie again. “ Zwy xyslouyk Myziz mizs deny E kek! Zyfk ty sa wydd E qedd klor wyl kaqf qesw ty tuzydb!!” (translation: “She betrayed Jesus just like I did! Send me to hell I will drag her down with me myself!!)

Each drop of Holy Water hade left a scratch mark on Stephanie. She then sits back up and spits blood in Father Nathaniel’s face.

“Key hleyzs, key!”(translation: Die priest, die!) Stephanie yelled out. She then lifts up her hand and slashes Father Nathaniel’s face with her long, sharp nails, scratching his eye out, leaving 4 deep wounds on his face, and ripping his mouth open. He falls to the ground, hitting the back of his head on corner of the coffee table.

    “Nathaniel!!”Father Sinclair cried out.

    Everyone sees what has happened.

“Father!”Peter yelled out, running to him.

“Oh my God…!”Martha screamed out. Andrew is in total shock, as he stares at what’s happening.

Stephanie from the couch is laughing, in a very raspy voice, as her laugh echoes. Blood is dripping from her mouth and the couch begins to shake. Father Sinclair then grabs his crucifix and stabs it in her chest shallow. Stephanie lets out a huge scream, face to face with Father Sinclair.

“Evil Demon and Betrayer of the Lord…!” Father Sinclair yelled at the top of his lungs, “I command you,” He stabs her again, “To leave this girl in one peace!” He stabs her again, as Stephanie screeches, with her eyes closed. He sprinkles Holy Water again and he puts his hand on her forehead. The screeching slowly fades into a soft moan and Stephanie lies on the couch, unconscious. The furniture stops moving and the lights stop flickering on and off.

“Andrea, get me a cloth, or something, he’s bleeding very badly!” Peter yelled. He wanted to get his attention to Stephanie as soon as he could, but Father Nathaniel was slowly dying in front of them; he had to do something. Andrea hurries into the kitchen, in tears in search of one. Martha gets up and grabs a pillow from one of the other couches.

“Here, put this under his head,” Martha said, in tears. Andrew is just in complete shock, watching everything with his eyes widened, and his breathing rapid. He leaves the living room as Andrea comes in with a bandage from the first aid kit.

“Here, wrap this around his head,” Andrea said, trying not to panic.

Father Sinclair kneels down beside Father Nathaniel, and puts his hand up, gesturing everyone to stop what they were doing. Father Sinclair places his finger on Father Nathaniel’s neck, checking his pulse. There’s a short pause.

“Father, is he ok?” Martha asked, in shock as well. Father Sinclair puts his head down and shakes his head. He was gone. Martha covers her mouth and begins to sob as Andrea crawls to her and comforts her.

“It’s going to be okay, Martha.” Andrea said softly. Father Sinclair has a tear in his eye and looks at Peter. He looks back and can tell that Father Nathaniel had died. Father Sinclair rises and leaves the room as well. Martha rises up and hurries to Stephanie.

“My baby…”Martha cried softly, rushing to her. Stephanie was breathing, which gave Martha a lot of relief.

“Martha,”Peter said,“You and Andrea take Stephanie to her room, I’ll go and talk with Father Sinclair.”

Martha nods, locking eyes with him. They both knew that they were actually dealing with an exorcism now, and they would have to do whatever it takes to save Stephanie. Peter then walks away, as Martha and Andrea try to grasp Stephanie and wake her up a little bit.

Peter walks to the family room on the other side of the house and sees Father Sinclair finishing a prayer and doing the sign of the cross on him. He then turns to Peter.

“Father…”Peter said, walking up to him, “I’m so sorry…” Peter felt like he had to apologize for every reason.

“Don’t…”Father Sinclair said, “This was our idea, and now Nathaniel is in the hands of the Lord. Yes, I’m going to miss him as my partner, we had done a lot of things together.” Having Peter hear this just made him feel even guiltier.

“Me and Nathaniel had made a promise to each other,” Father Sinclair continued,“We have both experienced something like this, but far less dangerous, but we have promised each other no matter what were to happen, we shouldn’t dread, grieve, envy or hold any grudges if we were to loose each other. We made a promise to always keep the Holy Lord’s name and continue on with whatever has to be done.”

Peter was amazed on how strong Father Sinclair was. He had just lost his best friend by performing an exorcism, friends for over a decade, and he still had the courage to stand strong. Even though it was killing Father Sinclair inside that Father Nathaniel had just been murdered, he would never hate anyone for it.

“Father…”Peter said softly, “Will you still…help us?” He just felt like he had to ask. Father Sinclair forced a smile and nodded his head. Peter had longed for this kind of hope for his daughter. He knew that Stephanie still had a fighting chance.

“What should we do with the body, Father?” Peter asked.

Father Sinclair looked at him and replied with, “We will leave him in the basement…I will ask the Lord to watch over him for now.” He walks away into the living room where Father Nathaniel’s body still lies. He kneels down beside him and does the sign of the cross on his chest.

“Rest in peace…my friend.” Father Sinclair said softly. The bandage was bloody and fully red, wrapped around Father Nathaniel’s face. Father Sinclair rises and Peter walks in the living room.

He didn’t see the girls there anymore, they had brought her upstairs. Andrew slowly walks in the living room, staring at Father Nathaniel’s body. The only thing running through his mind was how badly he did not want to end up like him. He was thinking about the situation a lot-he was scarred.

"Father..." Peter began, "We can bury him outside if you want...until this is over and we can have a proper funeral for him..."

Father Sinclair thought for a minute. He definatley didn't want Father Nathaniel's body anywhere else. Father Sinclair looks at Peter and nods his head. "I think that will be best." He said.

"Okay," Peter said, "I'll tell Martha and we will do so." Peter starts for the stairs, but already sees Martha walking down the steps.

"Martha," Peter called, "Get the shovel from the shed ready..." Martha didn't even have to ask what he was going to do; she already knew. She nods and goes outside. Peter walks back to the living room.

“Where’s Andrea?”Andrew asked, still shaking up a little bit.

“She’s upstairs.”Peter answered, “Can you help me bring the body outside?”

“Are you kidding?”Andrew exclaimed, “There’s no way on God’s green earth I’m touching that corpse! This is just too crazy.”

“Andrew, please calm down…” Father Sinclair urged.

“No!”Andrew exclaimed,“Don’t tell me to calm down! You saw what happened, what if she pulls off something like this again? What if she kills you, Peter? Huh?”

Silence filled the room for a moment.

“What if she kills Martha? She’s going to kill us all if we even try and help her!” Andrew exclaimed.

Peter walks up to Andrew fast paced, “That wasn’t MY daughter who killed him!”Peter said, “There was something inside of her that drove her insane! You don’t know what happened!”

“Fair enough, I don’t”, Andrew said, “But what I do know is that girl is way too dangerous. You guys must be out your minds if you’re even considering helping that demon child.”

“Don’t talk bad about my family,” Peter said, “You don’t even know my daughter.”

“Yeah but, she’s the one who lost faith in God, She’s the one who just ended up having no soul at the end of the day.” Andrew snapped.

Peter then grabbed Andrew and pinned him against the wall with his hand around his throat. Father Sinclair looked down; he knew it was better not to get involved.

“Just because she lost faith in God…doesn’t make her a demon child,” Peter whispered, “Before you go around judging people, look in the mirror first, because that just shows the type of person you are.”

There was a long pause. Peter was giving Andrew a cold, hard stare then he let him go, and walked toward Father Sinclair. Andrew then leaves the living room, to the front door and goes out, slamming the door behind him.

“Are…you okay?”Father Sinclair asked. Peter just nodded and looked up at the ceiling, “Yeah, I’m okay.”

“Things will get better, as long as we don’t give up,” Father Sinclair smiled.

Peter smiled back. Peter always knew no matter what happened; as long as Father Sinclair or Martha didn’t give up on him, he was going to be okay. He could care less what Andrew thought, he wasn’t important. They both picked up Father Nathaniel’s body and walked outside, with sheets covering him. They had agreed to do a proper burying when this was all over. Although all the pressure had fallen on Father Sinclair now, it would be a lot tougher, but he and everyone else knew that giving up was never an option.

They had brought the body outside, a fair enough distance away from the house, and Martha was waiting for them with the shovel. They both put the body down and Peter grabs the shovel. He takes a deep breath and started to dig. He was hoping that he wouldn't have to do this to anyone else.
