• I'm so hungry. I need to eat something. They promised me a full stomach if I came with them without a fight. Clearly, they lied. I thought bitterly as I wondered around the castle. I suppose they think a single slice of bread is enough for someone like me. Even a small slave boy needs more then that.

As I walked closer to the kitchen a new smell hit me. It was sweet and made my mouth water and my stomach growl. I try to walk past the door but the smell and the warmth of the kitchen drew me in. Both of those things, I had been missing sense the raid on my village. I stand in the doorway, trying to convince myself that I would get caught if I stole from the queen. That it wasn't worth it to put my neck on the line, but the only things that I could think about were how hungry I was and how good those pastries smelled.

I hesitate in the door way then take a small step forward, into the warmth of the kitchen. I glance around the room and it is a rather large and empty. There is a stone fireplace along the back wall of the room and some counter space to the along the left wall of it with one small window above it for when it gets too warm. There is also a big table in the middle but that is about it. I glance around the room one more time to make sure that the chef isn't in the room. I also glance behind me and down the corridor in both directions to make sure there is no one coming.

I take another small step forward and cannot wait any longer. I practicly run to the table and look down at the small plate. There are four small rolls covered in a light glaze. I reach out slowly, afraid to touch it. Finally, the tips of my fingers touch one and are instantly coated in the glaze. I pick it up slowly and glance back one more time just to be safe then look back at it. I sit there and stare at it for a few seconds then take a huge bite. The sweet glaze coats my tongue and I feel my eyes widen. This is like nothing I have ever tried! It's sweet and still warm. I quickly take another bite and grab another and get ready to run. I turn on my heel and I see who I was afraid would return.

The chef is staring at me, the anger in his face is obvious, but he just stands there. I look between him and the pastries trying to decide what to do. We stand there staring at each other for a few minutes then hear footsteps coming down the corridor. The chef glances behind him then turns back to me, a wicked smile on his face. I turn around, drop the pastries, and start to run for the window, forgetting the table was there. My side hits the corner of the table and I cry out. I step around the table then continue to run for the window. The chef is yelling something I can't understand and the footsteps are quickly growing louder. I climb up onto the counter and try to unlatch the window but it's stuck. I pull at it for a few more seconds but just as it opens, I feel a sharp pain in my head and fall to the floor. My vision gets blurry then I black out.

That's it for now ^^ Tell me what you think!! =3 Thanks for reading!! ^_^
