• "There will never be a day more beautiful than the day we die!" He whispered curling his fingers around mine.
"There will never be a day more beautiful than this?" I smiled into the sunset, as it danced across my face making me look like I was blushing. I had never blushed before I met him. I had never smiled the way he made me smile. My heart had never thumped so hard, that I thought it might leap from my chest. Although this may be my last, I don't care, because I don't want to be in a world where our love is considered wrong.
"Are you afraid?" He asked, his grip on my hand tightening.
I considered for a moment. "I'm only afraid that we will not be allowed to be together in the afterlife. That this will be the end for us." The tears welled up in my eyes and I tried to blink them away. I didn't want to cry. Not in front of them.
"No matter how far apart they tear us, I will find you. No matter if it take me eternity to find you, I will not give up looking. Because there is no world without you." He whispered back. A tear trickled down his cheek, tainted red by the scarlet sky.
"Eternity is a long time to wait." I whispered, my hand shaking in his.
"Then don't let go of my hand." His voice cracked, as a sad smile paused on his face.
We both knew this was the end. We had known it was coming from the beginning, because in this world, in this life, the union of such two souls as ours, is forbidden.
"Aim!" The call rang out, like the cry of some monstrous beast lunging out of bushes towards its prey.
The clicking reminded me of the clock that used to sit on my bed side table. The clock that I use to watch, waiting for it to strike twelve and for him to climb through my window and kiss me again.
If we weren't chained I would kiss him now. So as to let him know that I would never let him go and no matter how far apart we may be, I would also search for eternity to find him. Because there is also no world without him.
    "Fire!"
The gunshots like a storm. The boom of thunder and flashes of lightening.
I did not close my eyes. I stood and faced my fate, hand in hand with the only man I would ever love.
    In this life.
    In the life after.
And until the stars stopped sparkling in the sky.
My eyes rolled back into my head, as the sun slid into the earth and out of sight.

Eternity maybe a long time to wait, but I would do so, if it meant we could be together.
