    Zombies

    OPENING.

    Darkness.

The news breaks in and the first thing we see are zombies
scattered through the city and a frightened news reporter.

    REPORTER
This is crazy! This isn’t anything
like I’ve seen before in my life!
We have no idea who or what they
are, if they’re alive or dead, we
    don’t know!

Cuts to police fighting off zombies as people in the back
    are running and screaming.

    REPORTER
What ever anyone does, PLEASE don’t
come to Cape May! It’s way too
    dangerous over here! Keep away!
    They’re EXTREMELY dangerous!

Cuts to another reporter on the roof of a building.

    REPORTER #2
If they bite you, you turn into one
of them; again, if they BITE you,
you turn into one of them! A heavy
blow to the head will put them down
    instantly.

Cuts to more zombies roaming the towns and attacking people.

    REPORTER #2
    Please, everyone-just stay in
    doors!

He’s interrupted by loud banging on the rooftop door.

    CAMERA MAN (O.C)
    Damn! They found us!

    REPORTER #2
We have to go! Now! Hurry!

The door breaks open and we hear zombies yelling/screeching
from a distance. The camera cuts off.

    2.

INT. DAMON’S CAR. DAY. 3 MONTHS EARLIER.

It’s mid day. We see DAMON, 45, is driving the SUV he and
his wife, Trish, 42 had owned for quite some time. They’re
driving down a road surrounded by trees and bushes. We see
Trish is on her cell phone, in the middle of a conversation
    with someone.

    TRISH
So what did you guys want for
    dinner? Any requests?

    (break)

    TRISH (CNT’D)
Me and your dad are going to the
store now. Everything at the doctor
    went fine; thank God.

Damon turns up the A.C a little bit.

    TRISH (CNT’D)
    So here’s what I’ll do; I’ll get
some chicken and once I leave there
I’ll figure out something to make.

    (break)

    TRISH (CNT’D)
Did you guys want dessert or
    anything?

    (break)

    TRISH (CNT’D)
Okay, that’s fine. I’ll see you
when I get home. Love you too. Bye.

    She hangs up the phone.

    DAMON
    Who was that?

    TRISH
Xavier. I missed him so much. When
I texted him saying I was finally
out, he called me not even two
    seconds later.

    DAMON
    (laughs)
Well, that’s our kid. He missed
you, we all missed you. I’m really

    DAMON (cont’d)
glad you finally get to be home
    with us again.

    TRISH
Me too, Damon...it was getting a
    little too lonely there.

    DAMON
We’ll make sure that never happens
    again.

They smile at each other and Trish kisses him.

    TRISH
So I was thinking we should make
    chicken alfredo or
    fajitas...something with chicken,
I’m not in the mood for beef or
    anything.

    DAMON
It’s up to you, honey. What ever
    you want.

    TRISH
    (giggles)
You know I hate when you do that.
What ever I like to cook no one
    eats.

    DAMON
Well yeah, you make salads and
    soups, those are just starters.
What do you expect with three men
in the house. On top of that,
    Kierra doesn’t even like salad.

    TRISH
    (sighs)
    Well...I guess I’ll have a decision
when we go into the store. You
don’t know how long I wanted to
just cook, go out again, be in my
house again. I really am blessed
with the life I have right now.

    DAMON
So is this it? No more doctor’s
    office?

    (CONTINUED)

    CONTINUED: 4.

    TRISH
Oh, Damon, you know I can’t do
    that. I don’t think I’ll ever have
    a "last" appointment.

    DAMON
Well, why not? He’s gonna have to
start giving you a free gas gift
card or something. He’s damn near
two hours and some change away.

    TRISH
You’re too much, I swear. Well,
it’s just in case if anything were
to happen. God forbid, it could get
worse at any second. It’s just a
precaution. I mean, come on, you
know you, Xavier and Kierra could
    never live without me.

    DAMON
That is true, I’ll give you that.
Do you think our eldest with the
    emotions of steel would?

    (Beat)

    TRISH
Phoenix...just has a funny way of
    showing it.

    DAMON
    He shows it?

    TRISH
    (giggles)
Come on, he’s a good kid, you know
that. He’s just his own person. We
need to learn how to respect that.

    DAMON
He can show a tad bit more respect
is all. Other than that, he’s okay.
I’m not saying he’s not the devil
    or anything.

    (Beat)

    TRISH
    (smiling)
    He can be at times.

    They both laugh.

    5.

    INT. LIVING ROOM. DAY.

A beautiful 19 year old girl, KIERRA, is sitting at the
dining table, signing a birthday card. She finishes, smiles
and kisses the card softly. We can see it’s a birthday card
    for her mom.

XAVIER, Kierra’s twin, comes into the living room as well.

    KIERRA
    Hey!

    XAVIER
    Hey...what are you up to?

    KIERRA
    Nothing, just got done signing
    mom’s birthday card. You’re signing
    it too, right?

    XAVIER
Yeah, I will in a bit.

    He goes into the kitchen.

    KIERRA
What did mom say about dinner?

    XAVIER (O.C)
    She doesn’t know yet!

    Kierra walks into the kitchen.

    INT. KITCHEN.

    KIERRA
    (leaning against doorway)
I was thinking we should cook for
her today. I mean, she hasn’t been
home for awhile. I don’t want her
cooking when she FIRST gets here.

    XAVIER
    (grabbing a can of soda)
Well, what did you wanna do? Order
pizza? None of us can cook.

    KIERRA
    That’s not true! I mean...we can
try, right? I can try making
something that’s at least a little
    simple.

    CONTINUED: 6.

    XAVIER
That sounds nice, but we’re trying
to keep mom AWAY from the hospital,
    Kierra.

She laughs and playfully hits him. She puts the birthday
card on the kitchen counter with a pen.

    KIERRA
    It’s here whenever you’re ready.
    I’ll go and tell Phoenix.

    Xavier nods, and Kierra leaves.

    EXT. BACKYARD.

We see 24 year old PHOENIX, the eldest of the siblings,
sitting on the picnic table, doing scratch-offs. He often
wore white and black beaters to show off his tattoos on his
arms. He flicks the cigarette away from him and continues.
Kierra comes out and stands next to him.

    KIERRA
    Win anything?

    PHOENIX
    I won 3 bucks...

    KIERRA
    That’s disappointing.

    PHOENIX
That’s alright. Maybe this next one
could be a big winner knowing my
    luck.

Kierra laughs, getting Phoenix’s sarcastic humor.

    KIERRA
Are you going to sign mom’s card? I
picked one up for her birthday. I
    signed it already.

    PHOENIX
Yeah, yeah sure. Just let me get my
    gambling addiction all out then
    I’ll be right in.

    KIERRA
    (smiles)
    You and those scratch off.

    (CONTINUED)

    CONTINUED: 7.

    PHOENIX
    What?

    KIERRA
You get at least 3 scratch offs a
day. I’m surprised you’re not dead
    broke.

    PHOENIX
You should also be surprised AND
happy for me. This is one of the
FEW things I do that’s actually
    legal.

    KIERRA
    I don’t know what you’re addicted
    to more, gambling, cigarettes or
    that hippie flower.

    PHOENIX
One, weed isn’t addicting, and two,
    you forgot sex.

    KIERRA
    (laughing)
    Wow, okay! TMI!

Phoenix chuckles and finishes the scratch off. He tosses it
when he doesn’t win anything, and goes to the next one.

    KIERRA (CNT’D)
    Phoenix...I know you weren’t around
    much then, but...thanks for
    sticking around for mom today.

    PHOENIX
    Yeah, sure.

    KIERRA
    No, I mean it, really-it’ll mean a
    lot to--

    PHOENIX
    (interrupting)
    Alright, alright, alright. Come on
Kierra, you know I don’t like that
    mushy s**t.

Short pause. Kierra turns around and starts for the door.

    PHOENIX (CNT’D)
    You’re welcome...

    8.

Kierra turns to him and smiles. Phoenix lights up another
cigarette and completes his scratch off.

    INT. KITCHEN.

Kierra walks back into the kitchen. Xavier just gets done
    signing the card.

    XAVIER
    I’m done.

    KIERRA
    Awesome. Thanks!

    XAVIER
    Anything else? There’s some
shooting upstairs that has to be
    done.

    KIERRA
One more thing...I was thinking I
should do the cake tomorrow on her
actual birthday. What do you think?

    XAVIER
    That sounds good to me...why?

    KIERRA
    I don’t know. I think it’ll be
better to do it that way.

    XAVIER
Yeah, I get you. What kind of cake
    did you get her?

    KIERRA
    Wanna see it?

She goes into the freezer and takes out a rather big ice
cream cake. When she opens the box she sees that a corner
piece is missing. Kierra, mad, turns and looks at Xavier.

    XAVIER
    Don’t look at me, I didn’t even
    know you bought her that.

    KIERRA
    Oh, I’m not blaming you...

Phoenix walks into the kitchen, and stops, seeing the look
    on Kierra’s face.

    CONTINUED: 9.

    PHOENIX
    What?

    KIERRA
    (points at the cake)
    Really?

    PHOENIX
No one told me it was saved for
    anything...

    KIERRA
    (sighs)
    Sure...

    She closes the box.

    INT. LIVING ROOM. EVENING

The front door to the house opens. Damon is setting the
    groceries on the counter.

    DAMON
    (going into the kitchen)
    We’re home!

Trish walks in, and closes the door behind her.

    TRISH
    (calling for her kids)
    Hello?? Xavier? Phoenix? Kierra?

She sets her things on the counter and looks around. She
    walks into the kitchen.

    INT. KITCHEN.

    TRISH (CNT’D)
    Where are they?

    DAMON
I’m not sure. Maybe they went out
    or something?

    XAVIER (O.C)
    Knock, knock...

Trish turns behind her and sees Xavier standing by the
doorway with a rose in his hand.

    CONTINUED: 10.

    XAVIER (CNT’D)
    Welcome home, mom.

Trish’s eyes fill with tears and she gives him a very tight,
big hug, as Xavier hugs back just as tight.

    TRISH
Hey sweetie! How are you? I missed
    you!

    XAVIER
I missed you more...I’m so happy
    you’re okay. I’m happy it didn’t
    get any worse...

    TRISH
Me too. Thank God you’re all okay!
I promise I won’t be gone for this
    long ever again.

    XAVIER
    (smiles)
That’s all I wanted to hear.

She looks at him and takes the rose, smiling. The front door
opens and Kierra walks in with a bag in her hand.

    TRISH
    Where’s your brother and sister?

They hear the front door open.

    KIERRA (O.C)
    Xavier! I got it!

She walks in the kitchen with a bag in her hand and sees
    Trish.

    KIERRA (CNT’D)
    Oh My God!! Mom!!!

She runs and hugs Trish tight, almost crying. Trish is
    already in tears.

    TRISH
    Kierra! How are you, honey?

    KIERRA
A thousand times better now that
    you’re finally here!

They exchange looks and hug each other again.

    CONTINUED: 11.

    DAMON
It’s nice to know that no matter
how old you brats get, you still
show how much you love her.

    They all laugh.

    TRISH
    What’s in the bag, Kierra?

    KIERRA
(almost forgot she had it in
    her hand)
    Oh-um, nothing, nothing!

    TRISH
    Hm..
    DAMON
    (knowing what it is)
Kierra, go tell your brother to
come down here. She’s dying to see
    him.

    KIERRA
    Sure...Xavier, come on!

    XAVIER
    Why?

    KIERRA
    Come on!

She runs upstairs. Xavier laughs and goes upstairs as well.

    TRISH
    What was that about?

    DAMON
Who knows with her. She reminds me
of you when we were young.

    TRISH
Hey...we still are young! Okay? And
    don’t forget that, sir.

    DAMON
    (jokingly)
    Sure thing, mistress.

They both laugh and Trish gets out all the groceries and
    gets started on dinner.

    12.

    INT. XAVIER’S ROOM.

Kierra and Xavier walk in the bedroom. Kierra sets the bag
down and takes out a very nice jewelery box on Xavier’s
    desk.

    KIERRA
Got it. If only I’d gotten home
    twenty minutes earlier. Ugh!

    XAVIER
Hey, at least she didn’t see it or
    anything.

    KIERRA
I guess. Here, hide it somewhere.

    XAVIER
    Why here?

    KIERRA
Because apparently I suck at hiding
    things.

    XAVIER
    Hah...since when?

    KIERRA
Since 2 minutes ago. Have you seen
    Phoenix? Is he home?

    XAVIER
    No...he still didn’t come back.

    Pause.

    KIERRA
    (disappointed)
Are...you sure? He said he would be
    here.

    XAVIER
Check if you want but I didn’t see
him or hear him come back.

    KIERRA
    Seriously?

    13.

    INT. HALLWAY.

Kierra walks up to Phoenix’s door and knocks on it. She
tries opening it but it’s locked.

    KIERRA
    Phoenix?

No response. She knocks again, a little bit louder and waits
a minute. Still no response. Xavier walks over to her.

    XAVIER
    Is he in there?

    KIERRA
His door is locked...he should be,
    right?

    XAVIER
    You’re talking about our brother
who used to sneak out of his own
window to avoid waking up mom or
    dad.

    KIERRA
But...he said he would be here.

    XAVIER
Come on...maybe he just got into a
little bit of trouble. Let’s at
least try and have a good day. Mom
is back, that should be good
    enough.

    Pause.

    KIERRA
    You’re right...okay, let’s go. I’ll
    call him a little later.

    They both go downstairs.

    INT. DINING ROOM.

Damon is setting up the table and Trish is having a glass of
wine, standing with him. Kierra and Xavier come to the
    dining table and join them.

    TRISH
    Where’s Phoenix?

    Short pause.

    CONTINUED: 14.

    KIERRA
    I don’t know.

    TRISH
    Oh..

    DAMON
What do you mean you don’t know?
    He’s not in his room?

    KIERRA
It was locked. I know he left
earlier but...he said he would be
    back.

    DAMON
    Christ, that kid, man...

    TRISH
Damon, it’s fine. Please, just let
    him be.

    DAMON
No, I’m sick and tired of letting
him slide. He knew what today meant
to every single one of us. Him not
showing up today pretty much tells
us it didn’t mean a damn thing to
    him.

    TRISH
He’s grown, now. He’s an adult.
Every time he upsets you it doesn’t
    really mean he’s doing something
    he’s not supposed to.

    DAMON
If he’s grown he needs to show more
    respect, now. He’s not eighteen
    anymore.

    KIERRA
If he’s late we can just have
    dinner without him...you all know
    how he is.

Pause. Damon sighs. Trish walks closer to Damon and looks
    into his eyes.

    TRISH
    Honey, trust me. It’ fine.

    CONTINUED: 15.

    DAMON
    It’s not.

    TRISH
Please just relax. All I want to do
is eat and have a good, peaceful
    night. I haven’t had a good night
since the day I stepped foot in
    that hospital.

    Pause.

    TRISH (CNT’D)
I just want happy days. No more
tough days, I’ve had one too many
    of those.

    DAMON
    (nods)
    Okay...okay. Fine.

    TRISH
    (smiles, kissing his cheek)
    Thank you.

    INT. LIVING ROOM. EARLY MORNING.

We see Phoenix slowly creeping inside, under the influence
of marijuana. He looks at the clock which read "3:33 AM". As
he makes his way to the stairs, Damon comes in the house
through the patio door and spots him. They both stop in
their tracks and look at each other.

    DAMON
    Where were you?

    PHOENIX
    Out.

    DAMON
Out? Out where? Must’ve been more
important than seeing your mom come
    home from the hospital.

    PHOENIX
I don’t have to answer you anymore.
Those days were over the second I
    turned eighteen.

    DAMON
I understand you’re an "adult" now,
but you’re STILL under my house,

    DAMON (cont’d)
and I’m still providing a room,
food, and everything else. Get your
own place if you don’t want to hear
    anymore "questions".

    PHOENIX
    (rolls his eyes)
    Whatever.

    DAMON
Why weren’t you here? She was
    FINALLY coming home from the
hospital after so many months. This
is what you wanted too, and right
when she’s here, you don’t bother
to show up. What kind of man are
    you?

    PHOENIX
You’re probably one of the most
dramatic people that I have ever
met. Every time I don’t impress you
or meet up to your retarded
standards, you have a ******** fit
all the time. It’s stupid. Sorry
    I’m not perfect, and I’m sorry I’m
not the perfect son that you
dreamed of having. It’s not my
    ******** fault though.

    DAMON
    I don’t think you’ll ever learn how
    to respect your parents...do you
even respect yourself? When are you
going to grow up? You haven’t
    changed a bit.

    PHOENIX
It’s my life, and maybe that’s
exactly how I want it to be. Jesus,
I swear, you are the LAST person in
the whole ******** world I would
choose for a parent. The LAST
    person.

    Pause.

    PHOENIX (CNT’D)
    ******** bullshit...

He goes upstairs to his room and slams the door shut.

    17.

    INT. DAMON’S BEDROOM.

Damon walks into the bedroom and sits down on the bed,
opposite from Trish. She sits up and looks at him. There’s a
short pause. Trish shakes her head and gets up from the bed,
    and leaves.

    INT. PHOENIX’S ROOM.

Trish cracks open his door. She sees Phoenix sitting on his
    bed, really upset and mad.

    TRISH
    Hello? Can I come in?

    PHOENIX
    You know you can.

Trish smiles and walks in the room, closing the door behind
her. She looks at him, then walks up to him.

    TRISH
    Things aren’t the same
    anymore...are they?

    PHOENIX
They’ll never be the same. It seems
like the older I get the more
bullshit I hear from your damn
    husband.

    TRISH
Don’t talk like that. He’s your
father as much as he’s my husband.
And yes, sometimes you do have to
    hear him out. He’s right.

    PHOENIX
You don’t think I know that?
Sometimes I even wonder why I stick
    around here anymore. It’s like
every single thing I do, it upsets
    someone. Why can’t everyone just
    leave me alone?

    Short pause.

    TRISH
    You’re not a child anymore,
Phoenix. You don’t need me or your
dad to tell you what’s right and
    what’s wrong anymore. You should
    know that by now.

    (CONTINUED)

    CONTINUED: 18.

    PHOENIX
    I do what I want. That’s acting
like an adult as far as I’m
    concerned.

    TRISH
I understand that. But growing up
isn’t really what it’s all cracked
up to be. It comes with a lot of
    responsibility and understanding
the fact of having a dinner with
your family is more important than
    smoking a...doobie.

Trish and Phoenix laugh, sensing Trish’s lighthearted humor.

    TRISH (CNT’D)
You know deep down in the bottom of
your heart that you’ll always be my
special boy under those tattoos and
    piercings. Always.

    PHOENIX
    (smiling)
Yeah...you tell me that all the
    time.

    TRISH
I remember when you came home with
your first tattoo. Your father went
    insane.

    PHOENIX
    (chuckles)
    Insane isn’t the word. Hostile
    would probably be it.

    TRISH
    I think it’s because you’re growing
up to be the guy he once was a half
    century ago.

They both laugh and Trish notices Phoenix’s smile hasn’t
    faded yet.

    TRISH (CNT’D)
You know...we do understand you. Me
and your father were your age once.
Just try and grasp the fact that
family is a lot more important than
    you think.

    Short pause.

    TRISH (CNT’D)
    I won’t lecture you...you’re an
adult, just like you said. But just
always keep in mind; you’re never
too old to realize the good that
has been around you all this time.

    PHOENIX
    (smiles)
    Thanks, mom.

Trish kisses her fist and softly nudges her fist at his
cheek, playfully. Phoenix chuckles and looks at her.

    TRISH
I know I gotta use tough love when
it comes to you. I’ll see you
    tomorrow, okay?

    PHOENIX
    Sure thing, mom.

    TRISH
    Goodnight, Phoenix.

    She heads for the door.

    PHOENIX
    Hey, mom...I love you.

    TRISH
    (smiles)
    I love you more. Goodnight.

    PHOENIX
    Night.

    She leaves his room.

    INT. TRISH’S CAR. MORNING.

Trish is in her car, listening to her favorite song. She’s
driving on her way to work, we can tell she has gotten and
feels a lot better than before. She arrives and parks her
    car.

She enters the office and her workers surprise her with a
cake and coffee. Trish laughs and smiles, and goes to hug
everyone. They all wish her a happy birthday and a "welcome
    back".

    20.

    INT. KITCHEN. NOON.

Kierra is in the fridge, taking out a can of diet cola. She
takes a sip and takes a deep breath. She walks aimlessly
around the house and notices Phoenix outside in the
backyard. She then goes outside to him.

    EXT. BACKYARD.

Phoenix is smoking a cigarette, staring off into the
distance. He looks like he has a lot on his mind. Kierra
    comes near him.

    PHOENIX
    Need something?

    KIERRA
    Your undivided attention would be
    nice...

He turns to her. There’s a short pause.

    PHOENIX
    Yes?

    KIERRA
I heard what happened last night.
    It woke me up.

    PHOENIX
    Now’s not the time.

    KIERRA
Now’s not the time for what?

    PHOENIX
To get a lecture from my
    little sister.

    KIERRA
    I don’t want to lecture you...all I
wanna do is talk. When will I ever
get that chance to have a deep
    conversation with you?

    Pause.

    KIERRA (CNT’D)
What happened with you? I want my
    older brother back...when we were
kids, all you used to do was look
after me. Every time I was with

    KIERRA (CNT’D)
you, I knew I had nothing to worry
    about.

    PHOENIX
What’s the problem? You have Damon,
right? You also have Xavier. I
don’t see what you still need me
    for.

    Short pause.

    KIERRA
Because you’re you. And that’s who
    I truly miss...is you.

    Long pause. Phoenix turns away.

    PHOENIX
    Hope you’re not expecting an
    apology.

    KIERRA
No, I never do...but if you wanted
to make it up...please be here
tonight. It’ll mean a lot to
    everyone.

    PHOENIX
Who will it impress? Our dad?
Someone who I don’t even want to
    bother impressing?

    KIERRA
Mom will be very happy...when we
were on the phone she always talked
about you. Wondered how you were
    doing, if you’re okay...it’ll mean
    a lot to her...and me. That’s all.
    This isn’t about dad...it’s mom’s
day. Let’s try and make it the best
    one she’s ever had.

    She walks away.

    INT. KITCHEN. LATE NOON.

Kierra is lighting candles on the birthday cake on the
counter. Xavier comes in with the jewelery box in his hand.
It has a small bow on it.

    KIERRA
    Think she’s gonna like it?

    XAVIER
Of course. She needs somewhere to
put all of her jewelery. I got her
    this too...

He sets the jewelery box down and takes out a silver
necklace with an angel on it.

    KIERRA
    Wow...that’s beautiful! She’s gonna
    love it! I can’t wait, she’ll be
    home any second now!

    XAVIER
    She’s going to be stoked!

We see Trish’s car pull in the drive way. She gets out the
car, a bit slow and a little out of breath. She makes her
way to the house door and comes in.

Suddenly, her eyes roll in the back of her head and she
collapses hard on the ground. Xavier and Kierra hear the
thud. They quickly run to the front door and see Trish
    laying on the ground, unconsciously.

    XAVIER
    Mom? MOM???

    KIERRA
    Oh my God! MOM!!!!!

Xavier runs beside her. Kierra starts going into shock and
starts crying hysterically. Phoenix rushes in and sees what
    happened.

    PHOENIX
    What happened??

    XAVIER
    Quick! Call 911! She’s not
    breathing!

    KIERRA
What do you mean?? What’s wrong
    with her?? MOM!!

    PHOENIX
    Kierra, Kierra, calm down! Relax!

    XAVIER
    Phoenix! Get the phone!!!

    KIERRA
    (crying)
    Mom...!!! MOM...!!!!!

Phoenix runs and gets the phone out and calls 911.

    PHOENIX
Hello? 911? We have an emergency!!!

    EXT. PARKING LOT. EVENING.

Damon is heading to his car, just getting off of work. Right
before he gets into his car, his phone rings. He answers it.

    DAMON
    (into phone)
    Hey Xavier, what’s up?

Silence. Damon’s face changes, as he’s listening to Xavier
on the other line. He hangs up, rushes into his car and
    hurries out the parking lot.

    INT. HOSPITAL. NIGHT.

Damon rushes in the hospital and runs to the stairs, heading
to the floor level his kids are in. He rushes down the hall
and meets up with Kierra, Phoenix and Xavier in the hallway,
outside the trauma room Trish is in.

    KIERRA
    Dad!!

She runs up to him and they hug extremely tight.

    DAMON
What happened? Is she ok? Where is
    she??

    XAVIER
    (almost in tears)
    I don’t know; w-we just saw her
    lying on the floor, unconscious...I
    don’t know what happened...

    KIERRA
Is she gonna be ok? I’m so scared
    for her...

    DAMON
    (hugging her)
It’s going to be ok, Kierra, trust
    me.

We see Phoenix is against the wall, in total shock. He’s
stiff as a statue and is staring aimlessly into the
    distance.

    DAMON
How long has she been in there?

    XAVIER
    It’s been like...

He’s interrupted by the door opening, and the doctor coming
    out of the room.

    DAMON
Doctor! Is she ok? What happened to
    her?

    KIERRA
I wanna see her...I wanna see my
    mom!!

Pause. The doctor looks at everyone then slowly shakes his
    head.

    DAMON
    Wh...what do y-you mean?

    Pause.

    DOCTOR
    I’m so sorry...

    DAMON
    Please...no...

    DOCTOR
We...really did all we can do.

Kierra falls to her knees and starts crying her eyes out,
    which has everyone watching.

    DAMON
    No, no, no...!! NO!

Damon starts sobbing, as the doctor goes to hug him. Xavier
is shedding a few tears, holding Kierra close. Phoenix is in
shock, and then goes and punches the wall out of anger
